International seminar and coordination meeting within the PRINTeL project took place on 16-17 May 2019 at Yerevan State University

Within the framework of the PRINTeL project («Change in Classroom: Promoting Innovative Teaching & Learning to Enhance Student Learning Experience in Eastern Partnership Countries») of the ERASMUS + program,  a seminar and coordination meeting "Innovative teaching in higher educational institutions" was held at Yerevan State University on 16-17 May 2019.

 

The events were coincided with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Yerevan State University. More than 70 representatives of the countries participating in the PRINTeL project took part in them. The main purpose of the seminar was to improve the curricula of advanced training courses for teachers for their further use in the Centers for the Development of Professional Competencies of Teaching Staff in partner universities.

In addition to the plenary sitting, the work of five parallel sections was organized where the participants were invited to debate about innovative methods of active teaching and their own learning experience with the use of information technologies. Parallel sessions were devoted to the following topics:

  • Active learning and learning with the use of ICT: learning through mobile applications and gamification;
  • Video as a teaching tool for teachers and students: webinar and promoting classroom interaction;
  • Active learning in a flipped classroom;
  • Active learning with a focus on the enhanced co-education technology;
  • Hybrid / blended learning.

Armenian colleagues and students also took part in the section work and gave their opinion on the progress and results of the teacher training courses. The curricula of the courses were improved and finalized for further use when developing and improving the professional competencies of the teaching staff in partner universities. The improvements were based on the results of the seminar, as well as on the results of a survey of the participants after the course completion.
