Alexey Alferov and Evgeny Karmilchik, students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, are the winners of the World Boxing Championships

Belarusian boxers won two medals at the World Championships for the first time in 18 years.

Alexei Alferov, a third-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education, has won a silver medal at the World Championships in Belgrade (Serbia). It is the second award of the Belarusian national team at the world forum. Evgeny Karmilchik, also a third-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education, has earlier won a bronze medal.

Alexey Alferov, competing in the 80 kg category, lost in the decisive battle to his American rival Robbie Gonzalez by a separate decision of the judges. It is worth reminding that in the semi-finals Alexey Alferov did not leave a chance for the Russian athlete Savely Sadoma. In addition, he defeated the Croat Luka Plantic, Iranian Maysam Geshlagi and Irish Keylan Cassidy.

Earlier Evgeny Karmilchik, competing in the 48 kg category, lost in the semi-finals to Kazakhstan's Temirtas Zhusupov. Prior to that, the athlete had three victories over Sri Lanka, Kenya and Mongolia.

It should be noted that Belarusians haven't won two awards of the World Championships since 2003. That time silver went to Magomed Aripgadzhiev (81 kg). Victor Zuev (91 kg) took the bronze.

Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno won awards in an international essay contest

International student essay contest "My profession is a teacher" was held on November 10, 2021 by Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Almaty. Students from Kazakhstan, Poland, Belarus and Russia took part in the contest.

Students of the specialty "Elementary education" of the Faculty of Pedagogy Anelia Zamana, Julia Lyskovka and Margarita Maleeva took the first places in the International essay contest "My profession is a teacher".

The aim of the contest is to identify professional abilities and quality of students training, creating conditions for the disclosure of their talents, professional, pedagogical and creative potential, self-realization.

    Yury Ramanouski, the First Vice-Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, took part in a seminar on state accreditation

    The seminar was held on the basis of Minsk State Linguistic University. It was held with the aim of implementing the Agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science on cooperation in the field of state accreditation of higher education institutions, and also in the context of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus on establishing the National Agency of Education Quality Assurance.

    During the seminar the participants discussed such topics as transformation of the national education quality assurance system in the context of new approaches in education legislation, procedures for conducting accreditation expertise, testing applicants as experts, and many other issues.

    Among the participants of the seminar there were representatives of the Education Quality Control Department of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Accreditation Agency in the sphere of education", higher and additional adult education institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. Yury Ramanouski, the First Vice-Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, also took part in the event in the face-to-face format, as well as the university staff and teachers online.

      Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno have completed the Huawei program "Seeds for the Future 2021"

      “Seeds for the Future” was first "planted" by Huawei in 2008. Since then, more than 30,000 people from 126 countries have completed the training program. Belarus joined the project in 2015.

      Not everyone can become a trainee of the “Seeds for the Future” program. In order to achieve that, it is necessary to pass several qualifying stages, thus proving your motivation and desire to obtain new skills. The acceptance rate among applicants is high because students from 500 universities around the world apply for participation in the educational program.

      This year the students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno managed to get into the top 20. Among the lucky ones are Karina Burlakova, a second-year student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, Violetta Vasina, a third-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Valery Zakrevsky, a second-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology and Alexey Novik, a second-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology.

      The program is aimed at attracting students to the ICT domain. Huawei is convinced that talented and dedicated professionals are one of the driving forces of sustainable development.

      During eight training days the students studied the specifics of 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, took part in the group project "Tech4Good". At the end of the training program young people gained skills in one of two areas. Technical specialties (STEM): telecommunications, radiophysics, artificial intelligence, information technology, cloud computing, cybersecurity, energy (thermal energy, solar energy). And non-technical specialties with high learning outcomes and aspiration to work in the ICT domain.

      At the final event the organizers and the finalists were welcomed online by Iryna Kiturka, Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. She expressed her hope for further fruitful cooperation with Huawei.

      At the Faculty of Law there was an internship of representatives of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University

      The representatives of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University had a scientific internship at the Faculty of Law of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno from October 25 to November 6, 2021. During these days teachers of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno held a series of seminars for foreign colleagues.

      The internship was preceded by a meeting of its participants with the management of the Faculty of Law, which was held in early October. The participants discussed promising areas of cooperation and opportunities for international students to participate in scientific events held at the Faculty of Law.

      During the internship the teaching staff of the Faculty of Law of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno conducted a number of scientific and methodological seminars for colleagues from Kazakhstan. The discussions covered labor legislation, constitutional issues, mediation and many other issues. Internship participants were actively involved in discussions and shared their experiences.

      The main university building tour was organized for foreign guests. Tatiana Kalosha, head of Yanka Kupala State University Museum of History, told about the history of the university and the achievements of its graduates, the modern opportunities and directions of development. Equally informative Scientific and Technological Park of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno tour was held for guests from Kazakhstan by the director Alexander Vasilyevich.

      Also, members of regional tourism study group "TourYur" of the Faculty of Law conducted a tour around the historical part of Grodno for guests from Kazakhstan.

      Concluding the scientific internship, representatives of both parties identified the prospects of cooperation, considered the possibility of participation of representatives of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in the scientific activities carried out at the Faculty of Law. According to the results of scientific training, Svetlana Cheburanova, dean of the Faculty of Law, presented the guests with certificates.

      Representatives of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University noted that the internship was informative and left only pleasant impressions.

        Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno won an international environmental competition

        On November 9-10 the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management hosted the IX Ecological Cup in an online format. The competition is designed to draw attention to environmental issues and organize active discussion of environmental problems in the student, expert and public environment.

        Among the participants of the Ecocup were representatives of Russian higher education institutions, the team of the International University of Innovative Technologies from the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the Interstate Educational Institution "Belarusian-Russian University" and two teams of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno - the Faculty of Biology and Ecology and the Faculty of Engineering and Construction. According to the results of the Cup the team of Biology and Ecology Department "Kupalovtsy" was recognized the best of 13 participating teams.

        On the first day of the Interuniversity Environmental Cup the teams presented to the jury projects in the format of homework. The students of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of YKSUG prepared a project titled "Development of quality landscaping of the territory of the city park in the central part of Grodno. When evaluating the projects, the main criteria were the relevance and significance of the development, the quality of the project elaboration and effectiveness of economic costs. Kupalovtsy's project was highly appreciated by the jury of the competition for its scientific component, economic justification and specific measures for its implementation.

        On the second day of the competition the participants of the teams had an intellectual game "Ecology" in the format of an individual Internet-testing on the Moodle platform. All team members had to answer 30 questions in 40 minutes. And also before the start of the main eco-cup tests it was necessary to hold a local environmental action "Ecobattle" and create a video on "Comfortable Urban Environment".

        In its composition Team "Kupalovtsy" were undergraduate and students of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of our university - Yaroslava Sapach, Elizaveta Bogdanova, Julia Yushkevich, Alena Amshey, Nikita Brjuko, Anna Dobrinets and Vadim Gunko.         Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno invites you to participate in the II International Scientific Conference “Eastern Europe: contexts of socio-economic development”

        The conference, which will be held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on November 30, is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Department of Sociology and Special Sociological Disciplines.

        The participants of the scientific conference will share the experience in socio-economic development of Eastern Europe, discuss the problems of modernization processes, investment and consumer behavior of the population, monetary practices, development of markets and entrepreneurship, transformation of labor relations in a digitalized economy and precarization of employment. The conference is organized by the Department of History, Communication and Tourism of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and the Department of Sociology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

        A representative of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno had an internship at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University

        During the educational visit the possible directions of cooperation between the universities in educational, innovative and scientific activities were determined.

        The internship of Natalya Bashun, the Head of the Technology, Physiology and Nutrition Hygiene Department of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took place within the framework of the State Program "Education and Youth Policy" for 2021-2025. The main purpose of the traineeship was to improve the qualifications and professional skills in the field of nutrition science, development of innovative methods of the educational process on the subjects "Fundamentals of functional nutrition", "Physiology of nutrition", "Biosafety and bioethics in biotechnology".

        During the educational visit the representatives of the two universities discussed the prospects of cooperation in education, innovation and research activities, the implementation of joint research in the field of nutrition science and technology of creating functional foods. Natalia Bashun, Head of the Technology, Physiology and Hygiene of Nutrition Department of YKSUG, studied the experience of youth organizations and the Military Historical Club of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Peter the Great.

        Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has leading positions in the rating of technical universities of Russia. In 2010, it received the status of a national research university, which recognized its role and capabilities in both training and multidisciplinary research and development.

        Professor Vladimir Kosov from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

        Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan acquainted with the scientific potential of Kupala State University.
        During the visit, Vladimir Kosov, professor of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and Yury Bialykh, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, discussed the prospects of cooperation between the institutions of higher education.
        Vladimir Kosov also visited the Physico-Technical Faculty of Kupala University and familiarized himself with the activities of the research laboratories of molecular spectroscopy and nanostructure optics and radiation materials science. The staff members of the laboratories told about the scientific potential of the Physico-Technical Faculty, outlining the demand for scientific equipment in many higher education institutions and scientific organizations.

        Yanka Kupala State University students from Uzbekistan early voting in presidential elections

        Early voting centres were set up across the country from 14 to 20 October. Students at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno also had an opportunity to express their civic position.

        Fifty students from Uzbekistan study at Kupala University. The adult students naturally exercised their right to vote in the elections. One of the first to do so was Ruslana Tolstosheeva, a third year student of the History of Communication and Tourism Department and coordinator of the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan in Grodno region. The girl said that the election is an indicator of concern about the future of their country.
        Kupala students were glad that, being thousands of kilometres away from their homeland, they could take part in the most important event for each state.
        Overall, more than 1,000 foreigners from more than 30 countries study at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. For each of them comfortable conditions of studies and accommodation are created.
