Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the training session for volunteers «Effective Communication in Business and Personal Relationships»

The event was held at the Grodno State Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity on March 3.

The training for Kupala students was conducted by representatives of Heritage 2019 LLC together with Unisef. The purpose of the training was to develop communication competence, the ability to listen well and perceive information accurately.
During the training, the volunteers learned about the rules of communication and the current communication model. The students were able to apply their knowledge in practice by performing various exercises.
As the Kupala students themselves note, the event was an excellent chance for them to learn to find an approach even to uncooperative interlocutors, to correctly convey thoughts to other people, which is important in volunteer activities.

Rector Irina Kiturko meets student activists of university faculties at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

Representatives of the Faculty of Arts and Design, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, and the Faculty of Philology were invited to the first meeting.

The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue. Setting the tone for the upcoming conversation, Irina Kiturko noted that she is ready to support any initiative of students.
“You are a driving force in your faculties, you are the ones that other students follow. Therefore, I expect more activity from you, I expect that in the future we will increasingly hold such meetings on the initiative of students, rather than leadership,” – addressed the audience Irina Kiturko.
One of the most discussed issues was the construction of a new dormitory. In particular, the students were interested in whether there had been developed any criteria by which the Kupala students would be settled in the new dormitory as a matter of priority. Irina Fedorovna replied that she was ready to consider the proposals on this subject by the students themselves. By the way, the survey has already been conducted, and its results will be known in the near future.
Continuing the topic of building a new dormitory, the rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Irina Kiturko, noted that the construction of the building is proceeding at a faster-than-expected pace, and she is ready to support the student initiative to participate in properly organized subbotnik works at the construction site. In turn, students proposed to organize the work of a student construction team in the summer and thus contribute to the speedy commissioning of the long-awaited facility.
During the open dialogue, issues related to the functioning of other dormitories of Kupala University were also raised. Many of them concerned student hostel No. 3. As a result, the rector decided to sort out the raised problems on the spot and made an appointment with the students living there the very next day.
Among the topical issues voiced during a frank conversation with the rector, there was also the question of a possible increase in tuition fees. Irina Kiturko confirmed that payment will increase from April 1, the size of the cost increase is currently being discussed.
During the open dialogue, medical care for students, catering, and support for student startups were discussed. Also the topic of the 75th anniversary of the great Victory was touched and events which can be held in a new format to mark the milestone date were discussed.
At the end of the conversation, the rector of the Yanka Kupala State University Irina Kiturko thanked the students for their activity, as well as for the frank conversation. Irina Feodorovna once again reminded that, clearly following the Mission of the University, its management strives to identify, reveal and realize the potential of each student. And if there is a mutual interest in this, then such meetings of students with the University management should be held more often, including at the initiative of the students themselves.

Student of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Veronica Kostrova takes part in the final round of the contest «100 Ideas for Belarus»

The final round of the project started on March 2 and takes place over two days in Minsk. The exhibition presents more than 100 authors' developments, of which eight projects are defended by representatives of the Grodno region.

In total, more than 500 schoolchildren and students, as well as young scientists, took part in the ninth season of the competition. Among them is the project of a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Veronika Kastrova, who, according to the results of all the rounds, became the finalist of the competition.
The student proposes the development of a composite material based on sulfur-containing waste of Grodno Azot OJSC, which will replace the raw material component with sulfur-containing industrial waste. By the way, Veronika already defended her idea at the zonal stage “100 Ideas for Belarus” and took part in the “InNaStart” contest of student startup projects of Grodno State University.
The participants' developments are evaluated by an expert Council. The winners will be determined in ten categories. According to the organizers, the final round of the ninth season of the competition is held with an emphasis on environmental issues. The most promising projects will receive grants for creating business plans and the opportunity to participate in the main Republican competition for innovative projects.

Belarus approves schedule for centralized testing in 2020

The relevant information “On conducting centralized testing in academic subjects in 2020” is available on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus.

Applicants will take tests in Belarusian on June 13, in Russian on June 15, in social studies on June 17, in mathematics on June 19, in biology on June 21, in a foreign language (English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese) on June 23, in chemistry on June 25, in physics on June 27, in the history of Belarus on June 29, in geography on July 1, in world history (modern times) on July 4.
The reserve days for centralized testing are set for July 8 and 10 – Belarusian and Russian languages, and July 8 and 12 — other subjects.
The resolution contains a list of educational institutions identified as the registration points for taking the CT, including on reserve days, as well as the points for conducting the CT. On reserve days, the CT will be held at the Belarusian State University.
The working hours of the registration points are from 9.00 to 19.00, on Saturdays (May 2 and 30) - from 9.00 to 18.00. You can register for CT on reserve days from July 30 to July 5. CT start time, including on reserve days - 11.00.
Applicants will be able to obtain certificates at points of conducting CT from July 12, and at BSU (reserve days) from July 15.

Students, teachers and employees of Yanka Kupala State University said good-bye to winter

City cultural and sports festival “Towards spring 2020. Shrove Kingdom, Pancake State” was held in the Pyshki forest park on February 29.
Representatives of all faculties of Yanka Kupala State University gathered to say good-bye to winter. There worked a field kitchen, where Kupala students warmed themselves up with tea, tasted army porridge and were treated to the main symbol of Maslenitsa – pancakes at the festival. In addition, everyone could play darts, checkers or chess, as well as compete in arm wrestling and weight lifting. Creative performances prepared by the Department of Cultural and Leisure Activities of the Department of Educational Work with Youth and the Campus of Grodno State University of Yanka Kupala were a gift for the guests.

Student of Yanka Kupala State University is the winner of the regional stage of the National Professional Skills Contest "Worldskills Belarus" in the competence “Car Repair”

The competition was held on February 26 at the Ivan Schastny State Professional Electrotechnical College of Grodno.
Participants in the competence “Car Repair” were to perform welding and straightening work on the car. The work of the contestants was evaluated by qualified experts.
3rd year student of the Faculty of Innovative Mechanical Engineering specialty “Technical operation of vehicles” Eugene Kuprianovich became the winner of the regional stage in the competence “Car Repair”. He will represent the Grodno region at the IV National competition of professional skills “WorldSkills Belarus-2020” in Minsk. The winners of the national stage will represent Belarus in 2021 in Shanghai.
On the subject: “WorldSkills Belarus” is an international non-profit movement that aims to improve the status of professional education and standards of professional training and qualifications around the world. The mission of “WorldSkills” is to develop professional competencies and increase the prestige of highly qualified personnel, demonstrating the importance of skills for economic growth and personal success.

The instructions-and-methods class on shooting training took place on February 27.
The event was attended by heads and their deputies from Belarusian universities, where there are military faculties and departments. The activity was aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Military Department and educational institutions in the training of military personnel.
According to the results of the activity, Irina Kiturko, rector of Yanka Kupala State University, was awarded a first-degree diploma for participating in the competition. Irina Kiturko was also awarded a Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus certificate for active participation in the training of military personnel for the Armed Forces.

A year-round sports contest among students started in Yanka Kupala State University

The first in the marathon of sports events was kettlebell lifting competition.
Eight men's teams of faculties took part in the competition. The first place was taken by the team of the military faculty, the Head is the teacher of physical training and sports of the Department of theory and organization of physical training of military personnel Ivan Krupenich. The second place was taken by students of the faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Head is the senior teacher of the Department of physical education and sports Alexander Flerko. The third place was taken by the faculty of civil engineering, headed by Associate Professor of the Department of physical education and sports Vitaly Maklakov.
The competition was held in five weight categories: up to 65 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 85 kg, up to 90 kg and over 90 kg. The winners were determined by the sum of double event results: push and jerk of the kettlebell. The Chief Judge of the competition is senior teacher of the Department of physical education and sports Ivan Bernatovich.
The sports contest among students of the Yanka Kupala State University will be held during 2020. Kupala students will compete in basketball, volleyball, mini-football, chess, swimming, table tennis, athletics and autumn cross. By the way, in 2019, 1101 students took part in the sports competition, and the law faculty won according to the results of all competitions.

In the nomination “Doctor of Sciences”, the first place was taken by the head of the Department of Botany, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Oleg Sozinov. The head of the Department of Biochemistry, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ilya Zavodnik became the second. The third place was awarded to the professor of the department of Russian philology, doctor of philological sciences, professor Alexei Nikitevich.
The first place in the nomination “Candidates of Sciences” was taken by the head of the Department of Zoology and Human and Animal Physiology of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology, candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Olga Yanchurevich.
