The meeting was held at the Polish Language, Literature and Culture Center with organizational and creative support of Grodno University’ civil-patriotic project "Live History". Elzbieta Ksenzhek, Yaroslav Ksenzhek’s wife, also came to the university.

The basis of the event was a cultural, historical and literary retrospective of the Grodno region.

“Our beautiful Grodno land have long been full of songs and delightful artistic word. People have been born and are born in love with poetry and literature on this very land, where fast Niemen flows, where Shchara, Ros, Ditva, Kotra, Black Gancha are scattered like blue ribbons, where mysterious Svityaz flaunts. Spiritual heritage of Belarus, the past and the present, landscape close to heart, images of people, dreams and hopes are the basis of their creativity. Poetry is the voice of earth, the strength and wisdom of generations, it’s memory,” welcomed participants of the meeting Olga Pan'kova, head of the civil-patriotic project "Live History", assistant professor of Russian philology.

Yaroslav Ksenzhek, Polish Consul General in Grodno, continued the conversation about the book, donating to the Polish Language, Literature and Culture Center encyclopedic and reference literature necessary for university students of various specialties to study Polish language.

“I’m very grateful to students for creative component of this evening and historical excursion. I was convinced once again that Grodno is full of talents and Grodno region is an interesting place where history borders on modernity. In Grodno, there are many architectural landmarks and unique sights that we are unlikely to see in other regions of Belarus. And this heritage Grodno residents should protect and preserve,” stressed the head of the Polish diplomatic corps in Grodno.

The meeting ended with screening of a feature film "Tomorrow we will go to cinema" directed by Michal Kvitinsky, which tells a story of three high school graduates who enter adulthood full of hope, but sudden outbreak of World War II will forever destroy all their plans and dreams. Yaroslav Ksenez noted that this film raises a number of topical problems and is an outstanding film of contemporary filmmakers in Poland.

Such film viewing sessions are expected to become regular at the philological faculty. Next meeting is planned to hold in January, during which university students will get acquainted with Polish cinema and discuss watched films with Consul.

As a part of the visit, Yaroslav Ksenzhek also met with Yury Bialykh and Henadz Hachko, Vice-rectors for Academic Affairs, and considered promising options for cooperation between higher educational institutions of Poland and the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
