A delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the XV Congress of the Euroasian Universities Association
The congress was attended by rectors and vice-rectors of the member universities from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and other countries. Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Iryna Kiturka and Director of the Scientific Library Mikalai Hrynko took part in the event.
An essential part of the program was the discussion of a general agenda in the field of science and education with the administration of other interuniversity associations in the Eurasian space as well as the representatives of the academic communities of Vietnam, India, Jordan, Iran, China, Mongolia, Oman, Serbia, Syria, Montenegro and other countries.
During the Congress, development trends of the Association in the modern world, steps and actions aiming at the expanding and deepening of ties between universities in the Eurasian space were determined. 26 new universities decided to join the Association. Iryna Kiturka was actively engaged in the work of the congress, established contacts with the participants and discussed prospective areas of cooperation.
On March 2, Cooperation Agreements with St Petersburg University, P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University, Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov were signed. Joint work in various areas will allow parties to mutually enrich scientific and educational experience.
Iryna Kiturka and Mikalai Hrynko visited the Center of Belarusian language, literature and culture of the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. The Rector presented scientific literature and fiction in Belarusian language to the Center. The delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno held talks with the administration of MSU`s Faculty of Philology, during which promising areas of cooperation and the involvement of foreign citizens in joint events were discussed. Furthermore, Mikalai Hrynko, coordinator of the Center of Belarusian language, literature and culture conducted workshops in Belarusian language, along with lectures in the history of Belarusian literature for the students of the Centers` Belarusian language courses.
The teacher of the Yanka Kupala State University presented a monograph at the “Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk”
In the "Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk" in the Marc Chagall Art Center, a lecture and presentation of the monograph "Transformation of the traditional lifestyle of Jewish women in Belarusian lands in the conditions of modernization (the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries)" by Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Candidate of Historical Sciences Yulia Ermak took place.
Yulia Ermak spoke about the peculiarities of the life of Jewish women in the Belarusian lands during this historical period. She pointed out what changes have taken place in the traditional way of life of Jewish society under the influence of modernization processes. She explained how socio-economic, political, moral and ethical factors influenced the position of women in society. The speaker's speech found a lively response from the audience.
Yulia Ermak introduced Irina Voronova, Director of the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk, to the list of scientific events planned for implementation in 2023 at the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism. Plans for further cooperation in the field of culture and historical science were outlined.
Yanka Kupala State University students won medals at the Republican Universiade in Indoor Athletics
In the overall standings, the team of Kupala University took fifth place. In total, students from 31 institutions of higher education in Belarus participated in the competition.
The Republican Universiade in Athletics was held in Gomel. The winners were determined in the all-around and relay, long jump and triple jump, 400 and 3000 meters running. There are three first, three second and three third places in the medal piggy bank of the Kupala individual standings. Charlotte Paeglite, a student of Yanka Kupala State University, received a special prize from the Belarusian Association of Student Sports. The girl won the pentathlon.
Online conference between higher education institutions of Grodno region and Gansu province
Grodno region and Gansu province cooperate within various fields, including education and this event let the participants further develop friendly ties.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Grodno State Medical University and Grodno State Agrarian University participated in the conference. Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, Hexi University, Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, Gansu Agricultural University took part from the Chinese side.
The meeting was also attended by Zhang Xiaodong, a member of the party committee of the Department of Education of Gansu Province, Ruslan Abramchik, head of the Main Department of Education of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Roman Sokol, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the People’s Republic of China.
Within the framework of the conference, Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Iryna Kiturka presented the educational potential of the university and told about its advantages and achievements.
By the way, Chinese universities are significant strategic partners for our university. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno implements an active international policy within the framework of around 200 agreements with foreign institutions and organizations from 30 countries, including 9 organizations of the People's Republic of China, cooperation with which was established back in 2001, when the first agreement of international cooperation with the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law was signed. For that purpose, the university implements a strategy for the development of cooperation with China in the field of education, which is an integral part of the overall strategy of our university – advanced development strategy.
In September 2017, during the visit of a delegation from Gansu province to Grodno, an agreement on the support of the organization of training within the project «Russian Language School» between the Office of External Relations under the Government of Gansu province of PRC and the Committee of Economics of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee was signed.
In October 2017 and May 2018, representatives of Gansu Province have been learning Russian at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. In the 2017/2018 academic year, the staff of the Office of External Relations under the Government of Gansu province attended Russian language courses at the Faculty of Philology under the educational program of the first stage of higher education «Russian Philology» and at the same time received a Master's degree in International Economics. On August 3, 2018, during the visit of the delegation of Gansu Province, our university hosted the ceremonial opening of the Center for Training of Gansu Province Personnel.
Agreement of International Cooperation with the University of Vavuniya was signed at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
The Agreement was signed during the online meeting on the 20th of December.
A delegation of the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage and a delegation of the University of Vavuniya headed by the Rector, Dr. Thampoe Mangaleswaran participated in the online meeting. The delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was headed by the Rector, Iruna Kiturka.
The meeting was productive, since both sides are interested in mutual cooperation development. The Agreement will facilitate scientific, academic and professional cooperation between partner universities and open new horizons for both parties within the framework of universities' activities.
By the way, it is not the first meeting with the University of Vavuniya, on the 10th of July 2022 with the support of the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus a meeting with the administration of the University of Vavuniya was held. During this meeting, Sri Lankan side expressed interest in the development of academic mobility of staff and students and organization of scientific research in the following fields: biology, math, philology, tourism, economy, international law.
The University of Vavuniya is opening new faculties and specialties, and therefore the design and implementation of joint educational programs in English and Russian languages could become a promising area of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Soon a program of cooperation to the current agreement will be developed.
A delegation of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
The delegation arrived to get acquainted with the university and discuss prospects of cooperation.
The foreign delegation of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University consists of Sergey Aksenov, Director of the Higher School of Engineering and Natalia Flotskaya, Director of the Нigher School of Psychology, Pedagogy and Physical Education. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was represented by the first vice-rector, Aliaksandr Kareusky; Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Vitali Khramau; Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Volha Mitrafanava; Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Yury Hniazdouski; Dean of the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering, Aleksandr Vorontsov; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Construction, Alla Volick.
Though the representatives of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for the first time, this did not prevent us from holding effective negotiations and identifying certain areas of cooperation. In particular, foreign colleagues are interested in implementation of joint diploma programs, as well as academic exchanges of students and staff, interaction within the frameworks of joint scientific laboratories, holding conferences, elaboration of joint scientific projects.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in a thematic exposition «Education in Belarus» in the Republic of India
On November 17-19, 2022 Volha Minava, head of the International Relations Office presented educational possibilities of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on the thematic exposition «EducationinBelarus» within the framework of 17th Summit of higher education – 2022 in New Deli.
In order to discuss current areas of cooperation with Indian higher education institutions, representatives of Belarusian universities visited the University of New Delhi. With support from the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of India they held talks with the staff of the University of Chandigarh, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and recruiting agencies.
As part of the participation in the collective exhibition, contacts with the WORLD1 Group Company, Shobhit Institute of Engineering and Technology, Sandip Institute of Engineering and Management, Bennett University, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, as well as Ivanovo State University (Russia) and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (Uzbekistan) have been established.
In order to attract foreign citizens to study at YKSUG, throughout the exhibition the work on informing and consulting potential applicants and their parents, representatives of foreign organizations, recruiting agencies about educational opportunities of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was carried out.

A delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Iryna Kiturka warmly welcomed the delegation of the Embassy, comprising of the First Secretary Abdullayev Azimjon Aliyevich and the First Secretary-consul Vakhabov Hajiakbar Juratovich.
In March 2022 Azimjon Aliyevich and Hajiakbar Juratovich visited university for the first time and took part in the V Open Festival "Novruz Bayram". During the current visit, the delegation got acquainted with the Scientific Library of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, presenting a collection of literature to its fund. Then the guests met with Uzbek students studying at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Grodno State Agrarian University.
After the conversation with the youth, the guests were given a tour of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, during which they were able to get acquainted with its potential, equipment and facilities.
Undoubtedly, the visit further strengthened the ties between our university and organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and outlined new ways of interaction. Currently, Yanka Kupala State State University of Grodno cooperates with universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of 13 International Cooperation Agreements and 8 Agreements on the implementation of 23 joint educational programs.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno takes part in a business visit to Ethiopia and Kenya as part of the delegation of the Republic of Belarus
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Yury Bialykh is visiting Ethiopia on a business trip as part of the delegation of the Republic of Belarus. Meetings are held in the city of Addis Ababa in order to establish cooperation with foreign organizations and educational institutions.
Today there was a meeting with the State Minister of Education of Ethiopia Samuel Kifle Kidane, during which Yuri Bialykh presented the educational and scientific potential of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and also discussed possible areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
A business forum, which was attended by Belarusian enterprises representing various sectors of the economy and educational institutions, was held the previous day. Addressing the participants of the plenary part of the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kenya and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Pavel Vziatkin spoke about the potential and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation, noted the need to intensify contacts between chambers of commerce and business circles of the two countries.
During the business visit, Yuri Belykh held talks with representatives of recruiting companies and other interested organizations in order to establish contacts and attract foreign citizens to study at our University.
A visiting professor from Turkey will give lectures at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
For four days, Candidate of Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Business School, Head of the Distance Learning Center of Istanbul Medipol University Gökhan Silahtaroğlu will give lectures to our students and get acquainted with the potential of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
The working visit was opened by a meeting of Gokhan Silakhtaroglu and First Vice-Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Yury Ramanouski, which was also attended by Maryna Karpitskaya, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Yury Hniazdouski, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Alena Livak, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Scienсe, Aleksandr Vorontsov, Dean of the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering, Marina Kolotsey, Head of the educational and methodological department, Volha Minava, Head of the Department for International Relations, Volha Piarkova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign languages, interpreter.
The participants of the meeting discussed the work of faculties and structural units and expressed hope for close cooperation.
The visiting professor will give lectures on the following topics «Network Security Problems» (discipline «Fundamentals of network technologies»), «Fundamentals of project management» (discipline «Computer Information Technology»). He will also conduct seminars and laboratory classes.
The visit takes place within the framework of the «Visiting Professor» program, and the Faculty of Economics and Management became the host.
Vladimir Kosov, Professor of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Vladimir Kosov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan got acquainted with the scientific potential of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
During the visit, a meeting between Vladimir Kosov, Professor of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Yuri Belykh, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, was held. During the meeting prospects of cooperation between higher education institutions were discussed.
Vladimir Kosov also visited the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and got acquainted with the activities of the research laboratories of molecular-level spectroscopy, optics of nanostructures and radiation material science. Laboratory staff told about the scientific potential of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, indicating the demand for scientific equipment by the teams of many institutions of higher education and scientific organizations.
Legendary athlete Aleksandr Karelin became an Honorary Professor of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
On the 21st of October the Rector of our University Iryna Kiturka awarded an honorary certificate of conferring the title to Aleksandr Karelin during a meeting with students, staff of the Yanka Kupala State University and the sporting community of Grodno.
During the event, the famous wrestler spoke about his professional path, self-improvement and reflected the fighting spirit and the desire to win. The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue. Everyone could ask the guest a question and get an exhaustive answer to it.
«I am sure that October 21 will be one of the brightest and most memorable days of 2021 for many of us. It was on this day that we had the opportunity not only to see with our own eyes the person who in 2021 was recognized as the youngest ever winner of the Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling, but also to fathom a wisdom that is not drawn from books, but is born on the basis of personal experience. The experience of a legendary man, the idol of many generations of athletes and sports enthusiasts. Today we are present at a meeting with a Hero of the Russian Federation, three-time winner of the Olympic Games, nine-time world champion, twelve-time European champion, thirteen-time champion of the USSR and Russia, holder of the title of the greatest Greco-Roman wrestler of the twentieth century, Doctor of Pedagogics, professor and an amazing person – Aleksandr Karelin» noted Iryna Kiturka, introducing the guest.
The meeting with Kupala students is not accidental: the national team of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has won the Republican Universiade more than once. In addition, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has a glorious sports tradition in Greco-Roman wrestling.
«I was lucky enough to be together with Aleksandr at various Greco-Roman wrestling championships. I always noticed the qualities that made him stand out noticeably among other athletes: curiosity, responsibility and discipline» said Viacheslav Maksimovich, Professor of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Honored Coach of the USSR in Greco-Roman wrestling, who, in fact, initiated this meeting.
According to Aleksandr Karelin, this format of meetings with young people has always been a priority to him. The three-time Olympic champion not only spoke about his path to sports, the role of coach Viktor Kuznetsov, but also answered all questions concerning high performance sport and personal experience.
His quotes "The struggle does not take away strength – it gives strength", "Find time, not excuses", "It is not the one who missed the move who loses, but the one who is ready to lose", "Life should be treated greedily" will be remembered for a long time.
The Olympic champion wished the students to never give up and always achieve their goals despite obstacles.
At the end of the meeting, the Rector of the University, Iryna Kiturka, announced the unanimous decision of the University Council and presented a certificate awarding Aleksandr Karelin the title of Honorary Professor of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
