English-medium Master's degree programme for international students from China implemented at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
At the Faculty of Pedagogy of YKSUG, the English-medium Master's programme for international citizens from the People's Republic of China has entered its active summer phase. During the period from June 1 to September 30, 2026, 101 international students from China are studying in the specializations 7-06-0114-02 "Educational Management" and 7-06-0111-01 "Scientific and Pedagogical Activity" with English as the language of instruction.
Currently, the educational process is organized for 20 Master's students in the specialization 7-06-0111-01 "Scientific and Pedagogical Activity" (groups МДП-НПД-254 и МДП-НПД-255), as well as for 81 Master's students in the specialization 7-06-0114-02 "Educational Management" (groups МДП-ОМ-253, МДП-ОМ-254, МДП-ОМ-246, МДП-ОМ-247).
It is important to note that the key stage of completing the studies will be the final state certification. The defense of graduation theses is scheduled for August 24, 2026 for group МДП-ОМ-246 (8 students), and for September 28, 2026 for group МДП-ОМ-247 (29 students).
The educational process is structured according to a hybrid model, combining in-person classes during the summer period and during academic holidays with distance learning formats. Such an organization of the educational process allows for flexible training and the integration of international educational experience.
During the implementation of the programme, systematic and comprehensive educational processes have been achieved. Special attention is paid to the integration of the competency-based approach, and clear mechanisms for assessing the theoretical and practical readiness of students have been developed. The programme has a distinctly practice-oriented and socio-cultural focus. The developed educational and methodological support allows for the effective combination of academic depth with applied skills.
The implementation of the programme contributes to increasing the international attractiveness of Belarusian higher education and the formation of a sustainable interest in studying in an intercultural and English-language environment. As a result, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno achieves a high level of quality education that meets modern requirements.
Interactive research-oriented seminars for international students held at YKSUG
The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Pedagogy of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno served as a venue for interactive research-oriented seminars "Exploring Creative Thinking of the Individual through Experimental AI-Assisted Projective Techniques." The project supervisor was Snezhana Semernik, Head of the Department of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor.
The seminars were attended by 10 students from the People's Republic of China: An Zilong, Zhu Zhenji, Liang Yuzhou, Luan Yongkang, Tian Luoyi, Chen Xin, Zhang Jian, Zhou Xueqin, Wu Shaohu, Cheng Xinru.
During the sessions, the students became familiar with methodological tools of the latest technologies for researching creative thinking and conducted diagnostics of creative thinking using experimental AI-assisted projective techniques.
The participants highly appreciated the organization of the seminar and expressed their gratitude for the interactive sessions, as well as their hope for further practical application of the knowledge gained.
Safety issues in the summer period discussed with international students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Today, July 16, an information and preventive event for international students was held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Representatives of law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed the students about the main requirements of Belarusian legislation and the rules of conduct during the summer period.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Vasiliy Sianko, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Affairs of YKSUG. Addressing the international students, he noted the relevance of the topic of the meeting, the need for an integrated approach to forming an understanding of the laws of the Republic of Belarus and safety rules, and their observance by students.
The speakers of the event were Dzina Sytaya, Head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Leninsky District Police Department of Grodno, and Siarhei Filipovich, Senior Inspector of the Life Safety Promotion Centre of the Grodno Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In her speech, the Head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Leninsky District Police Department raised the issue of crime prevention. Dzina Sytaya drew special attention to the need to comply with the rules for paying fares on public transport, safe behaviour during the summer period, and the legal regulation of labour relations.
Siarhei Filipovich familiarised the international students in detail with the rules of conduct on the water and in the forest.
Such meetings are an important part of the work on adapting international students to studying and living in another country. Communication with representatives of law enforcement agencies helps to prevent emergencies and avoid violations of the law.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno hosted a delegation from Southwest State University
On July 16, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno welcomed a delegation from Southwest State University. The main topics of the meeting were the discussion of promising areas of cooperation and the signing of the Cooperation Roadmap for 2026–2027.
Southwest State University was represented by Sergey Emelyanov, Rector of Southwest State University, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Svetlana Belskaya, Research Fellow of the Department of Software Engineering.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was represented by Iryna Kiturka, Rector, Aleksandr Karevskiy, First Vice-Rector, Vyacheslav Ramanenka, Vice-Rector, Aleksandr Varantsou, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Dzmitry Linnik, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Sviatlana Cheburanava, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Siarhei Shcherbinin, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department, Anton Glazev, Head of the Research Division, Alena Belakoz, Head of the Center for Internationalization of Education, and Hanna Milasheuskaya, Acting Head of the International Cooperation Department.
The visit of the delegation of Southwest State University began with a visit to the Scientific and Technological Park of YKSUG. The Russian colleagues were introduced to the structure of the Technopark, informed about its main activities, and shown its technical equipment.
The participants then proceeded to Zhiliber Park for a solemn rally dedicated to the celebration of the Liberation Day of Grodno from the Nazi invaders. Representatives of the two universities laid flowers and wreaths at the Mass Grave of Soviet Soldiers and Partisans, honouring the memory of those who gave their lives for the freedom of the city of Grodno.
The main event of the day was the business negotiations within the walls of the main building of YKSUG.
At the beginning of the meeting, the guests from Russia were introduced to YKSUG, its departments, history and achievements. Then the Rector of the University, Iryna Kiturka, invited the colleagues to discuss promising areas of cooperation between the two universities, as well as the Cooperation Roadmap for 2026–2027 before its signing.
The Roadmap provides for cooperation in two areas: research and academic. The research sphere implies the identification of areas of scientific cooperation, the initiation of research practices, as well as the publication of research results in scientific journals of educational institutions. Within the framework of academic cooperation, staff exchanges for internships, professional development courses and lecturing will be carried out. The parties also agreed on the participation of universities in scientific-educational, cultural-enlightenment and civic-patriotic events, including the creative lounge "Belarus – a Crossroads of National Cultures," the open women's volleyball tournament for the Cup of the Rector of YKSUG, and the International Civic-Patriotic Marathon "Time Has Chosen Us!"
The outcome of the business negotiations was the signing of the Cooperation Roadmap. At the conclusion of the meeting, Iryna Kiturka thanked the Russian colleagues for the productive dialogue and presented them with commemorative gifts.
After the official part, the representatives of Southwest State University were given a sightseeing tour of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

Cooperation between Southwest State University and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno began with the signing of an international cooperation agreement on June 7, 2022.
During the period from 2023 to 2026, representatives of Southwest State University took part in numerous international scientific conferences, seminars and round tables, as well as International Student Olympiads and intellectual tournaments of YKSUG.
During the period from March 3 to 6, 2026, the Head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensic Science of Southwest State University took part in the XXVIII International Scientific-Practical Conference "Paradigm of Law in the Context of the Modern Development of Legal Science and Practice," organized by YKSUG.
Mini-Badminton tournament for Master's students from China held at YKSUG
On July 11, a mini-badminton tournament was held at the Faculty of Physical Education of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Its participants were nine master's students from China.
The tournament was held within the framework of the educational course "Modern Technologies of Health-Improving Physical Culture," organized by lecturers Alexei Abelevskiy and Iryna Tonkablatova for master's students from China. The course is conducted with the aim of supporting international students and introducing them to Belarusian teaching methods.
Following the intense competition, the winners of the badminton tournament were master's students of the Faculty of Pedagogy Wang Haidong and Zhou Xuezhe.
Students and staff of YKSUG get acquainted with the history of Belarus
On June 28 and July 4, students and staff of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno were welcomed by the hospitable Sula History Park.
Summer is the best time to explore new places and gain unforgettable impressions. Students of our university had the opportunity to learn more about the history of their native land in the most engaging ways. The excursion programmes included a boat trip along the Sula River, visits to a blacksmith's forge and a pottery workshop, and even real tests of strength and agility! They also managed to celebrate one of the most impressive traditional Belarusian holidays – Kupala Night. Weaving wreaths, dancing in circles, and searching for the mythical fern flower became essential elements of this magical evening.
The excursions were attended by students specialising in "Language Support of Intercultural Communication" and international students accompanied by staff of the Faculty of Psychology.

Summer School for students from Uzbekistan held at YKSUG
From June 27 to July 4, the Summer School "Introduction to the Legal System of the Republic of Belarus" was held at the Faculty of Law of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. It was attended by 13 students from Tashkent State Transport University.
The students enjoyed a rich programme: informative lectures delivered by faculty members, a sightseeing tour introducing them to the city, as well as a tasting of products at the advanced enterprise JSC «Molochny Mir». On July 3, the guests took an active part in the celebrations dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.
Such an experience helps students form a comprehensive understanding of the legal system of the Republic of Belarus and develop skills in comparative legal analysis.
Representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the X International Scientific Conference "Language in the Coordinates of Mass Media" at St. Petersburg State University
The jubilee conference, organized by the Institute "Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communications" of St. Petersburg State University and timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of journalism education at SPbU, brought together media communications researchers from July 1 to 4 in the northern capital of Russia. The delegation of YKSUG was represented in person by Inna Minchuk, Head of the Department of Journalism, and Tamara Pivavarchyk, Associate Professor of the Department.
During the conference, our representatives not only delivered presentations but also moderated plenary sessions. Inna Minchuk presented a report on the topic "Representation and Interpretation of Historical and Cultural Memory in Modern Media Text," while Tamara Pivavarchyk delivered a report on "Grammar of Media Speech and Grammatical Organization of Media Text." On the sidelines of the forum, meetings of the participants of the International Association of Researchers of Media Communication Language were held, established on the initiative of the Department of Medialinguistics of SPbU under the leadership of Professor Lilia Duskaeva. Representatives of the Department of Journalism of YKSUG, being active members of the association, made proposals for the development of research areas within the working groups and planned activities for 2027.
An important event within the framework of the conference was the meeting of our representatives with Anatoly Puy, Director of the Institute "Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communications," Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor. During the meeting, Inna Minchuk and Tamara Pivovarchik presented the Director of the Institute with a congratulatory address from the Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Iryna Kiturka on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of journalism education at SPbU. Discussions were held on the prospects for developing cooperation between the universities, including the possibility of exploring the development of a joint educational program in the field of "Journalism." Anatoly Puy expressed his interest in strengthening ties and joining forces in the training of journalism personnel in St. Petersburg and Grodno. In recognition of their long-term cooperation, dedication to the common cause and significant contribution to the development of medialinguistics as an independent scientific discipline, Inna Minchuk and Tamara Pivovarchik were awarded letters of gratitude from the Director of the Institute, President of the International Association of Researchers of Media Communication Language Anatoly Puy, and Vice-President of the Association Lilia Duskaeva.
For reference: The Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism of YKSUG has long-standing relations with the Institute "Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communications" of St. Petersburg State University. Back in 2012, on the initiative of Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Maria Konyushkevich, scientific ties began to develop between the Department of Journalism of YKSUG and the Department of Medialinguistics of SPbU. Currently, a joint cooperation program for 2025–2026 is being implemented. Representatives of the universities are actively developing research topics with subsequent publication of results (3 collective monographs have been prepared), joining forces in organizing scientific conferences and international competitions for students. In May 2026, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Lilia Duskaeva worked at YKSUG under the "Visiting Professor" program and delivered lectures and practical classes for students majoring in "Journalism" and "Information and Communication" on the discipline "Language of Mass Communication Media".
New Agreements, opening of the "Peili Workshop" and the Confucius Institute: how the delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno's visit to China went
The large-scale working visit of the delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno led by Rector Iryna Kiturka to Gansu Province is coming to an end. Today, on July 1, the final meetings with representatives of Chinese educational institutions took place. Five major cooperation agreements were signed, which will make friendly and educational ties even stronger.
The working day began with a visit to Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation. During the meeting, trilateral negotiations were held with the participation of the college leadership and representatives of the UNESCO Association of Gansu Province on the implementation of the "Peili Workshop" project on the basis of YKSUG. The meeting concluded with a sightseeing tour of the college. Our delegation became acquainted with the advanced material and technical base, modern educational laboratories and the unique experience of colleagues in training highly qualified specialists.
The next stop on the business trip was Lanzhou Institute of Business and Technology. Rector Iryna Kiturka and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Liavontsi Paulau met with representatives of the institution to discuss vectors of joint work. During the negotiations, the parties discussed academic exchange, the launch of joint educational programs and strengthening scientific ties between teachers and students of the two higher education institutions.
The main event of the day was the opening ceremony of the First Belarusian-Chinese Regional Forum, which was attended by representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
During the plenary session of the forum, Iryna Kiturka delivered a report on "Strategic Approaches in the Development of Regional Partnership with Universities of China." In her speech, she noted that the cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and the People's Republic of China is a contribution to the implementation of the strategic task of developing regional partnership set by the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko. Iryna Kiturka emphasized the international recognition of the university, noting that in 2023 it passed international accreditation and its diplomas are successfully recognized in China. She also presented the key mechanisms of interaction between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chinese partners and shared plans for further strengthening ties between educational institutions of the two countries.
On the sidelines of the forum, representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno signed five important agreements allowing them to expand the horizons of cooperation with Chinese colleagues. These include the Agreement on the Implementation of the Project to Establish the China-Belarus Educational Center "Peili Workshop" with Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation, the Memorandum on Deepening International Cooperation with Lanzhou Modern Vocational College, the International Cooperation Agreement with Lanzhou University, the Roadmap for 2026–2027 on the Establishment of the Confucius Institute of YKSUG jointly with Xinjiang Normal University, and the International Cooperation Agreement with Lanzhou University of Arts and Science.
The signing of such a large number of agreements confirms the high status of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on the international stage and opens up new opportunities for professional, scientific, educational and cultural interaction.
For reference: The history of cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chinese educational institutions began in 2001 with the signing of an agreement with the South-Central University of Economics and Law. Today, YKSUG interacts with 48 universities and organizations of the People's Republic of China.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno collaborates especially closely with educational institutions and organizations of Gansu Province. On August 3, 2018, during the visit of the Gansu Province delegation to YKSUG, the opening ceremony of the Gansu Province Personnel Internship Center was held.
Since 2023, cooperation agreements have been signed with Lanzhou City University, Longnan Normal College, Hexi University, Lanzhou Institute of Business and Technology, Lanzhou Vocational and Technical School of Experimental Art Qi Ai, Lanzhou Modern Vocational College and Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation.
Since 2025, together with Chinese partners, the International Center for Language and Cultural Exchange and the China-Belarus Vocational Education Practice Base have been established and are operating at Lanzhou Modern Vocational College.
To discuss vectors of interaction, representatives of YKSUG and delegations of Gansu Province regularly make mutual visits. Discussion of cooperation prospects also takes place in the format of online negotiations.

Students and staff of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the International Scientific Conference "Economic Science: Current State and Prospects"
Today, the Faculty of Economics and Management hosted an International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
For 20 years now, researchers have been conducting joint studies on the development of regional economy, the introduction of social innovations in areas with low levels of urbanization, the application of risk management mechanisms, and other priority areas of the socio-economic sphere. The Institute of Economics has consistently served as a training ground for highly qualified scientific personnel. Within the framework of the anniversary events, a cooperation agreement was signed, which will give a new impetus to scientific and academic interaction.
Marina Karpitskaya, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Professor of the Department of Finance and Accounting, on behalf of the Rector of the University Iryna Kiturka, congratulated the staff of the Institute, and also presented them with certificates of honour and valuable gifts. She thanked the researchers for their effective joint work and wished all those present new ideas, scientific discoveries, prosperity and personal happiness.
Lecturer of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Rimma Klyuchko took part in the St. Petersburg Legal Forum
From June 24 to 26, the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum – a large-scale expert platform for specialists from around the world – was held in St. Petersburg. Among the participants was Rimma Klyuchko, Head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensic Science of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
The event was held under the motto "It's Time to Be in Law" and brought together more than 5,000 participants. Within the framework of eight thematic blocks, legal specialists discussed the implementation of artificial intelligence in law, crypto-assets, the protection of traditional values, and cross-border arbitration.
Rimma Klyuchko took part in the thematic panel "Safety Umbrella of Eurasian Integration," held on June 24. The discussion participants analyzed models of legal support for various areas of security, as well as directions for improving the model legislation of the CSTO taking into account the transforming challenges and threats in the Eurasian space.
The participation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in an international forum of such a level demonstrates the high level of professional knowledge of the academic community of the university and its readiness to share unique experience with foreign colleagues.
Expanding the boundaries of cooperation: Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Iryna Kiturka signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Lanzhou Modern Vocational College
On June 30, within the framework of the opening of the First Belarusian-Chinese Forum, the delegation of the Grodno Region met with representatives of Gansu Province. The delegation included representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno – Rector Iryna Kiturka, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Liavontsi Paulau, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Translation and Intercultural Communication Wang Tao.
The work of the Grodno Region delegation on the sidelines of the forum began with negotiations with the Chinese side. The Belarusian representatives met with Ren Zhenhe, Chairman of the People's Government of Gansu Province, and Liu Jianxun, Mayor of Lanzhou. During the meetings, the parties discussed the main areas of partnership. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening ties in education, scientific research and youth policy.
The main event of the day for the representatives of YKSUG was the signing of a Memorandum of Intent aimed at deepening academic cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Lanzhou Modern Vocational College. The parties agreed on specific directions for developing relations. These include using the academic potential and infrastructure of YKSUG to modernize educational standards, jointly seeking ways to implement competitive and cultural-creative initiatives, as well as establishing bilateral mobility of students and teachers to develop projects in the field of public catering.
The signing of the Memorandum opens new vectors of cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Lanzhou Modern Vocational College, and also facilitates mutual exchange of experience.
Representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno spoke at the II Constitutional Readings in Kyrgyzstan
As part of the international conference dedicated to the Day of the Lawyer of the Kyrgyz Republic, Associate Professors of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Barys Balakhonau and Aksana Shupitskaya took part in the II Constitutional Readings. They delivered topical reports reflecting their scientific research.
Barys Balakhonau, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure, presented a report on the topic "Peculiarities of the Legal Regulation of Issuing Temporary Protective Orders (Protective Injunctions) in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Belarus." His comparative analysis of the protective mechanisms of the two countries aroused lively interest among colleagues and was recognized as highly relevant and in demand.
Aksana Shupitskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of International Law, presented a report on "The Constitutional Complaint as an Institution for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Belarus." During the discussion, participants highly appreciated the proposed approaches and asked a number of clarifying questions.
We congratulate our colleagues on their successful presentations! We are proud that the scientific developments of our scholars attract interest and receive recognition far beyond the borders of Belarus. Participation in the conference strengthened international cooperation in the field of constitutional law.
