Students of Yanka Kupala state University have visited Volkswagen plant in Kaluga

Students of the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering took part in the excursion to the Volkswagen Group Rus plant, which is located in the Grabtsevo Technopark in Kaluga.

Currently, Volkswagen and ŠKODA automobile production, as well as a gas engine production plant, are located on the territory of the enterprise. The automobile plant produces Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Polo and ŠKODA RAPID models. The maximum production capacity of the plant is 225 thousand cars per year. Alexander Kazmin, senior lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Technical Operation of Cars, told that the trip allowed to acquire unique knowledge on the subject "Technology of production and repair of cars". Students visited the car body production workshop, where the car body is assembled from stamped blanks by spot and semi-automatic welding. They learned about the methods of optimization and improving the comfort of employees, observed the process of painting individual parts and the body as a whole. The children were able to see the work of the assembly shop, where, unlike other workshops, manual labor predominates in order to improve and control the quality of products. The last point of the tour was a visit to the engine production workshop. Students learned about quality standards and product control, as well as methods of transporting parts received from partner manufacturers to the place of their installation, saw the parking of finished cars and a test track to check the quality of the assembly of the suspension and brake system. In addition, as part of the trip, students from Yanka Kupala State University visited the Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. The students were especially interested in the full-size model of the Soyuz-1 space station, as well as the real capsules on which the astronauts returned from orbit to the earth.
