Volunteer's diary: Kupala residents have completed their work at the II Games of the CIS countries

On August 13, a solemn ceremony of awarding champions and prize-winners of the II Games of the CIS countries in field hockey took place.

Over the course of ten days, athletes from more than twenty countries competed for awards in twenty sports. Sports competitions in weightlifting and field hockey 5 * 5, which took place in Grodno, met the expectations of both our volunteers and all participants, guests and organizers of the celebration of sports.

The II Games of the CIS countries is a real holiday and an excellent experience of holding large–scale sports competitions in our country.

Creative, bright, friendly and energetic – this is how the audience and athletes of the II CIS Games in Grodno will remember the Kupala volunteers. Our guys completely immersed themselves in the competitions and were able to make them unforgettable for everyone!

Karina Burlakova, student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, volunteer:

– The impressions are simply incredible! I got a lot of adrenaline during the competition. I liked working with people. My profession is connected with this, and during my volunteering I received additional competencies. In the press center, I helped journalists navigate the competition facility, watched their work, gained experience. Acting as a translator, I learned to work quickly. While working at the information desk, I told people about the sights of our city, and heard their enthusiastic reviews in response," the girl emotionally shared.

Ksenia Litovchik, student of the Faculty of Philology, volunteer:

– I accompanied weightlifters from Vietnam. During the days spent in Grodno, we really became friends. Their reward is two silver and a bronze! After the performances, the guys had a few free days before leaving for their homeland, and they spent them together with the Vietnamese, who have long settled and live in Grodno. How friendly they are! And hospitable, like us, Belarusians. We walked around the city together, saw the sights, even went to visit the dacha of a Vietnamese family who has been living here for decades. The guys were delighted with our city, Belarus," Ksenia said.

FOR REFERENCE: As a result of the II CIS Games, Belarus won 236 medals (48 gold, 78 silver, 110 bronze), taking second place in the overall standings. In the first place is Russia, which has won 288 awards (149, 89, 50). Uzbekistan is in third place — it has 105 medals (28, 25, 52).

We thank our volunteers for the quality work done, for high professionalism and hard work!
