Czech delegation visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on October 4, 2016. The main purpose of the meeting was to establish scientific and technical cooperation, to discuss issues of interaction in the field of scientific research.
Guests, who represented Central Bohemia Region, noted that their region is one of the most successful in the economic sphere and attractive for investments. Three areas are currently being actively developed and supported in the region– automotive, the sphere of mechanical engineering and chemical. Moreover, there is a Centre for Innovation in Central Bohemian Region, which has been working for many years. Its aim is to develop cooperation between academic science and companies and the business community of the region. The staff of the centre and universities undertakes a number of projects jointly with companies from China, Mexico, Germany, Austria and Israel.
During the meeting representatives of the Physico-Technical Faculty, the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering and ESPC "TechnoLab" have been presenting their innovations and projects, the authorship of which belongs to the scientists of the University.
“Educational laboratory equipment for schools and universities not only from Belarus, but also from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Mongolia, Azerbaijan is developed at Scientific and Educational Production Centre called "TechnoLab". All the equipment meets European standards of quality”, – noted Alexander Vasilevich, the Director of "TechnoLab". “We also design technological solutions for the construction industry. For example, our scientists have developed a special technology for the safe destruction of concrete and masonry structures using the method of electrohydraulic shock”.
Andrey Herman, the Dean of the Physico-Technical Faculty, noticed the fact that the faculty has more than 60 projects. The main fields of action are automation equipment, electronics, spectroscopy, the development of special purpose systems, methods of diagnosing objects and systems, laser technology.
Alexander Vorontsov, the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Resource-Saving Technologies( the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering), and Evgeny Ovchinnikov, the Associate Professor of the Department of Logistics and Management, suggested to the guests to cooperate in the mining industry, equipment development for medical purposes, as well as in the field of metalworking and woodworking.
“Our Czech colleagues after joining the free economic zone will have preferences in business organization and building a strong partnership with enterprises and organizations of Grodno region”, – said Alexander Vorontsov , the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Resource-Saving Technologies, the Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering.
At the end of the visit the Czech delegation suggested to analyze the work on a joint project invested by the European Union, and discussed possible areas of cooperation together with scientists of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Since September 30 to October 2 2016 in Lutsk (Ukraine) took place the international tournament in volleyball among women's teams "Lutsk meets friends 2016".
Took part 4 teams: “Volyn” Lutsk (Ukraine), “Kommunalnik-GRGU” Grodno (Belarus), “Orbita” Zaporozhye (Ukraine), “Megu-OSVSM” Rivne (Ukraine).
In a bitter struggle for the first place team “Kommunalnik-GRGU” won over “Volyn” with the score 3:1.
In the framework of the Days of Christian culture for students of the 1st year, speciality “Information Resources Management” of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of the YKSUG there was organized a lecture “The Art of the Belarusian manuscripts.”
Lecture in the Department of rare books of Historical and Archaeological Museum in Grodno was held by the Professor of the Department of Belarusian and comparative linguistics of the faculty of Philology Valentina Vasilievna Marshevskaya and the group tutor Elena Vladimirovna Sereda.
Students were familiarized with the ancient sacred manuscripts of X-XI centuries, miniatures of XIV-XVI centuries, technology of writing and decoration of books in various styles of ancient Byzantine Renaissance.
At the YKSUG in the Faculty of Economics and Management was held training seminar “The use of information resources and learning tools”. The teaching staff of the faculty were visited by the chief of the educational-methodical department for quality management education Daria Sergeevna Shpak and the head of the laboratory of educational innovations Oleg Vladimirovich Kolyago.
Daria Sergeevna introduced the audience with the methodology, procedure development and formation of the Fund assessment tools, emphasizing that FAT is a component of normative-methodical support of educational programs of higher education and is one of the means of measuring learning effectiveness and guarantee the quality of education.
“One of the compulsory parts of the fund assessment tools is a Bank of test items, placed on the platform of the educational portal. Consulting and technical support for the formation of the Bank of tests items has a laboratory of educational innovations”, - said Oleg Vladimirovich Kolyago.
During the seminar, head of the laboratory of educational innovations gave a master class on drawing up of test tasks, placing them in the Bank of questions and formation tests in the EMCD system on the educational portal. Oleg Vladimirovich also introduced the participants with activities of the Laboratory of Educational Innovation, presented the electronic scientific and methodological journal “University of educational innovation” and invited all the teachers of the Faculty of Economics and Management to cooperate.
During the solemn meeting, held in Minsk in early September, which brought together more than 100 Belarusian students who participated in the cultural and educational visit to China, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Tsui Tsimin declared a competition among students for the best essay and photo.
Among the participants of the competition were two YKSUG students ‑ 2nd year student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Evgenij Demidovich and 4th year student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism Olga Gracheva, who were lucky to visit China in the framework of educational visit.
Our students should share the impressions and tell about the importance of this trip to their lives. The winner of a competition will have an opportunity to study free of charge in any Chinese higher educational institution on any program – BA, MA, Ph. D.
“At the moment I am in the process of drafting an essay” ‑ said Eugene Demidovich. – “Competition works are to be handed over in mid-October, and the results will be known only at the beginning of December this year. I hope I'm lucky!”
The cultural and educational visit to China took place from July 20 to July 30 this year. During the stay in China more than a hundred Belarusian students, including two representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, visited a number of sights of this eastern country. Among them – Tszyuyyunguan - section of the Great Wall of China, the Centre of Chinese folk culture and crafts, national park "Mount Nyushou", Confucius’s Temple, Nanjing Museum, the residence of the President, a dynasty tomb of Ming, Imperial city, the Center of arts 798, Innovative science and technology park of "Zhongguancun", the Summer palace park and the Olympic Park. In addition, the students were introduced to Beijing, Naynkin, Dunnan, Tsinghua and Henan universities, attended lectures on the Chinese economics, as well as visited holidays and creative evenings, organized by Chinese students.
The Republic of Belarus Sambo Cup 16-17 September 2016 gathered more than 100 participants. Among them were representatives of the YKSUG.
After two days of competition the winners were the student of Faculty of Psychology Yekaterina Kalyuzhnaya and the student of Faculty of Physical Education Ksenia Danilovich. Third place went to student of Faculty of Physical Education Elizabeth Rusanova. The top five also included Julia Trahnevich the student of the Faculty of Law.
Coach of the YKSUG team was the head of sport games department, Faculty of Physical Education Alexander Revokatovich Bardin.
It worth mentioning, that the Republic of Belarus Sambo Cup is one of the first national sports event in the 2016/2017 academic year, where representatives of our alma mater win prizes and show good results.
On 17th September Grodno celebrated its 888-anniversary. The participants of the festive events were representatives of the YKSUG.
The academic community of YKSUG students marched in a column and carried the flag of Grodno through the main street of the city. The column was headed by Senior Vice-Rector Irina Fedorovna Kiturko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Gennady Alekseevich Gachko and Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Vasili Vasilyevich Senko.
The first event of the project was held on September 13,2016 at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The most active students, teachers and staff of our alma mater took part in sports competitions.
Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs has opened the marathon. Vasily Senko noted that YKSUG pays close attention to the development of sport and making priority of a healthy lifestyle. He also wished the participants of the marathon health, maintenance, gambling and fighting, good results, bright emotions and good impression.
The Chairman of the coordination student Council, the 3rd -year student of the faculty of Education, Jana Milyuk, adressed parting words to the participants.
Then the first competition has been started at University stadium. The participants competed in four kinds of sport: relay racing, kettlebell lifting, artistic cycling and playing mini-football.
Best in the mixed relay race 4x400 m were 3rd-year students of the Faculty of Physical culture: Alexander Khilmanovich, Alexey Senko, Andrey Ljubovic and Ian Sloma. The second and the third place also were taken by t students of Faculty of Physical culture, and the fourth place were taken by representatives of the Faculty of Law.
The competition in kettlebell lifting was held in three weight categories. The winners were 1 st-year student of the military faculty Andrey Yushchenko (weight category 75 kg), 1 st-year student of the Faculty of Physical culture Zahar Dmitrichenko (up to 90 kg) and 2nd -year student of the Faculty of Physical culture Arthur Veko (over 90 kg).
In the competition of artistic cycling the winners have been identified both among boys and among girls. They were 5th-year student of the Military Faculty, Dmitry Tarasov, and the 3rd -year student of the Faculty of Physical culture, Violetta Chuikova.
There were three teams in the game on mini-football. The best in the competition was the team of men students of the University called "Student club". Second place went to the team "Teachers of University" and the third went to the team called "Swallows of YKSUG , which consists of women students.
The competition ended with rewarding of winners and prize winners.
The next event of "Health Marathon" will be held in the City Day, on September 17. A score of representatives of our alma mater will take part in the orienteering, the "First start".
The project ""Health Marathon"" will last for five years and will end in 2020. During this period Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is planning a number of events. Sporting competition, Sportlandia, walking tours and bike rides, trainings and master-classes, charity events, concerts and flash mobs are among them.
The project designed to develop sustainable values among students for promoting the ideas of healthy lifestyle and health care as an resource of well-being and success.
The meeting organized by Goethe Institute together with Grodno regional library named after E.F. Karsky was held on September 9, 2016 in the children’s branch of the library.
Participants of the event were students of the first and the second courses of the Faculty of Philology, YKSUG, Associate Professor of department of Romance and Germanic Philology Svetlana Maslennikova and Senior Lecturer of department of Romance and Germanic Philology, lecturer DAAD Maximilian Dener.
During the meeting, the writer (Anna Kushnarova) told some about herself and more focused on her books – "Djihade Paradise" ("Paradise on the road to Allah") and "Junkgirl" ("Heroine"). Guest red out some of the most interesting passages and urged students to read her works entirely. Moreover, the writer raised one of the most pressing issues of our time - terrorism, and noted that many tragic events have served as a motive for writing some of her books.
During the event, students asked the guest questions in the native language of the writer, and at the end of the meeting, took pictures and got Anna Kushnerova’s autographs.

Eight 3rd-year students from Jilin University arrived at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno within international cooperation agreement.
New listeners of the foreign citizens department of Pre-university Training Faculty during the next year will study Russian language and special philological disciplines within the curriculum for the citizens of China. One-year study of Chinese philological students at YKSUG has become a tradition already: students from China have come to the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens for the third time.
