Igor Martynenko, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure of the Law Faculty of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, took part in a seminar on the protection of the archaeological heritage of Belarus

Specialists in the protection of historical and cultural heritage, representatives of the land management service, the departments of architecture and construction and housing and communal services, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus met to discuss issues of improving the protection of archaeological sites and artifacts in the E.F. Karsky regional library.

- Today, we have done a lot to protect the monuments of archeology, - said Elena Klimovich, First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee. - In all districts of Grodno region, inventory of the monuments has been carried out, also in many regions some projects have been developed for the protection of monuments of archeology. Such projects as Ivie, Mosty, Ostrovets, Oshmyany districts today are on the approval of the Ministry of Culture.

During the seminar Igor Martynenko, the head of the law and process department of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, introduced the basics of responsibility for violations of legislation in the field of protection of historical and cultural heritage and also he demonstrated some examples of vandalism, destruction of monuments, illegal excavation of archaeological excavations.

It should be noted that complex and systematic studies of the legal protection of historical and cultural heritage are conducted at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, one of the results of which is the introduction of the special course "Legal Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage" in the educational process and the publication of the same textbook in 2017.

The seminar was organized by the management of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Grodno local government.

Students-athletes of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno named the best in mini-football and volleyball competitions at the sport and athletic metting of student youth of the Union State

In the Brest hero-city, competitions were attended by more than 200 students from 20 universities of Belarus and Russia.

Many of the participants are candidate masters of sports. Among them are students-athletes of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, who repeatedly won and became winners of regional, national and international competitions.

As part of the Spartakiad, the students of YKSUG showed a high level of sports training: young men and women performed well in two sports, taking first place. The men's national team of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno named the best among the teams in mini-football. The guys beat all the teams in their subgroup and won with the score 7: 6 with the BSUFK representatives in the final meeting. Arkady Obilevsky, the senior lecturer of the sports games department, was training this team.

The women's team won in volleyball.

- Our volleyball players easily beated other players from the Fyodor Dostoyevsky Omsk State University, completing the game with a score of 2: 0. With the same result the match with the Southern Federal University ended in favor of our team. In the game with representatives of the Baranovichi State University, we also won with a score of 2: 1.- said Stanislav Lisovsky, the coach of the women's volleyball team at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, the senior teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. - In the finals we met with athletes of the Belgorod State National Research University and won in two games over rivals.

The teams of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno returned home with Cups and diplomas of the winners.

University of Granada is interested in increasing contacts with the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

It was noticed by Enrique Federico Kero Hervilia, the dean of the faculty of translation, the editor-in-chief of the magazine «Slavic World», the director of the Russian Center of the Russkiy Mir Foundation at the University of Granada, during the meeting with the administration of the Grodno University and the deans of the faculties.

The successful cooperation of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Granada University (Spain) began in 2012 as part of the study placement and participation of representatives of the Grodno State University in scientific events, which were held under the auspices of the Spanish University. In 2015 a cooperation agreement between the two higher educational institutions was concluded, ant it opened up new opportunities for realizing the potential of universities, their students, teachers and employees.

The parties plan to develop partnerships within the framework of the Erasmus + program. At the meeting with Tamara Pivovarchik, dean of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, the preparation of the project application for joint master's programs, the issues of research in the field of automated translation and intercultural communication were discussed.

Dean of the Spanish University was interested in short-term and long-term courses of Russian as a foreign language. As Yuri Romanovsky , the dean of the faculty of pre-university training, said the most successful project in this field is the Summer and Winter School of the Russian language. Students from the University of Granada have already taken part in these projects.

Inna Lisovskaya, the dean of the Faculty of Philology, continuing the topic of studying the Russian language, offered cooperation in the field of training specialists in Russian and Slavic philology. Perspectives in the interaction of a colleague are seen in the training of foreigners under the program "Russian as a foreign language" at the I and II levels of higher education.

Another important area of cooperation is the exchange of publications in scientific journals of the University of Granada and the Yanka Kupala Grodno State University. Thus, professors, teachers and staff of two higher educational institutions will continue to publish the results of their scientific research in rating editions.

Traditionally the academic mobility of students and teachers is important for both sides. Enrique Federico Caro Herviglia noted that the Spanish university is particularly interested in expanding the academic exchange of undergraduates and doctoral students of various specialties, as well as the university is interested in the participation of leading teachers of the University of Granada in the program "Visiting Professor".

At the end of the meeting, colleagues stressed that they are ready for further interaction not only in the humanitarian sphere, but also in the natural sciences.

- The University of Granada is interested in expanding contacts with Belarus. Grodno State University is the most active and valuable partner for our university. In the framework of the Erasmus + program we allocate the largest number of places among the Belarusian universities for the Yanka Kupala State University, - Enrique Federico Kero Herviglia summed up.

It should be noted that Enrique Federico Kero Hervilia, the dean of the faculty of translation, the professor of the department of Greek and Slavic philology, the editor-in-chief of the magazine «Slavic World», the director of the Russian Center of the Russkiy Mir Foundation at the University of Granada, is in Grodno State University as part of the "Visiting Professor" program. In the next few days he will give lectures on the disciplines "History of Russian Literature", "Professional Etiquette of an Interpreter" and conduct practical exercises "Practical Course of Translation of the Second Foreign Language of Spain", "Workshop on the Culture of Speech Communication". Also he will teach Spanish as the second foreign language for students of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism and the Faculty of Philology.

The website of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is recognized as the winner of the Open Internet Site Competition "EAPU Internet Awards" – 2017

The victory was awarded to the Grodno State University in the nomination "For the relevance of the content of the site" of the International Open Competition of Sites of Educational Organizations of Higher and Further Professional Education "Internet Award EAPU" – 2017.

According to the expert council, the website of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno shows great openness. This is evidenced by a fairly well-made adaptive mobile version of the site. Also, the website of Grodno University was also awarded in the category "Professional Interaction".

Websites of higher educational institutions of the CIS countries - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia participated in the competition. Websites of universities were evaluated by such criteria as the relevance of the content, the provision of professional interaction and interactivity, the availability of content characterizing the relationship of the university with the regional community, the usability of the site, design, functionality and adaptability, the informative and open content, the usefulness of information for a wide audience circle of users and the availability of mobile version.

The winners were named in ten categories: the jury chose the most convenient website for the user, the most technologically advanced website, the most adaptive website, the most informative website, the most useful website for a wide range of users, the best website design, the best mobile version, the website with the actual content, and also the jury determined the best in the nominations "The best provision of professional interaction" and "Ensuring the connection of the university with the regional community".

The organizers note that the competition promotes the creation of a model for international public ranking of higher education institutions on the Eurasian educational space. In addition, the contest of this competition is aimed at improving the quality of web-based representations of universities, as well as increasing the competence of specialists working in the field of development and support of university sites.

Yanka Kupala Grodno State University senate started work in a new staff

The renewed staff of the University senate includes heads of structural units, representatives of the faculty, as well as authorities, enterprises, institutions and organizations.

Among them are Viktor Liskovich, Deputy Chairman of the Grodno regional Executive Committee Director of the Grodno Meat Cutting Plant, Anatoly Grishuk, the Member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Economy, Budget and Finance, Andrei Korol, rector of the Belarusian State University, Anatoly Sviridenok, the member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Vera Grishechko, the chairman of the Grodno regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Education and Science.

At the meeting, the first pro-rector Irina Kiturko congratulated Vladimir Lyavshuk, the senior lecturer of the Department of International Business and Marketing, with conferring the degree of candidate of historical sciences and also she congratulated Leonti Pavlov, the head of the military faculty, with the award of the academic title of associate professor. Irina Fedorovna presented the diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus to Nina Makarova, the assistant professor of the Chair of Modern Programming Technologies, the diploma of the Ministry of Education to Zoya Akhremova, the senior lecturer of the department of theory and methodology of special education.

In addition, valuable gifts for the long-term fruitful work within the walls of Grodno University were awarded to Viktor Watyl, the professor, the head of the Department of Political Science, Alexey Petkevich, Leading Research Associate Professor, and Alexander Nechukhrin, the professor and the head of the Department of General and Slavic History.

Within the framework of the meeting of the Council of the University, the strategy of the staff policy at the university and the development of engineering education at the Yanka Kupala State University were discussed. The representatives of the faculty were elected by the competition for filling the vacant positions of the staff and presented to the academic rank of associate professor.

The students of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the International Oratory Competition "The Power of a Word"

The competition gathered 27 young speakers from different parts of Belarus in the Academy of Postgraduate Education. Among the participants are Polina Goncharuk and Daria Pospelova, four- year students of the specialty “Linguistic Support of Intercultural Communications”.

Contestants competed in the ability to express their thoughts, argue correctly, convince, refute and prove their point of view in foreign languages. Daria and Polina defended their works in English.

During the first round, the girls gave a prepared speech. Daria told about how to be happy, and Polina told about the most popular languages.

In the second round contestants participated in debates. Each of the participants had to present and argue their point of view to the opposite side clearly and logically. So, Polina defended the position of "Work", and her rival defended "Entertainment". Daria defended the point of view of "Cooperation", her opponent ⎯ "Competition".

The third round was the final in the competition, where the participants were offered to improvise on a topic chosen by lot. Polina explained to Sahara inhabitant what is snow, and Daria told about what is country's wealth.

All participants, according to the organizers, showed their oratorical skills and fluency in foreign languages. The contestants from the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno were awarded with letters of commendation and certificates.

Foreign students of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno have got involved with an opening of the Republican festival of creativity of foreign students of institutions of higher education "F.-ART.by”

The opening of the festival took place on the International Students' Day. Hundreds of foreign students from all universities of the country met in a major festival of cultures and nations in the National Library of Belarus. Among them are representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

This year the festival is held under the slogan " World Youth: Identity, Solidarity and Cooperation".

As part of the festival, interactive stands were in operation and the gala program "Belarus meet friends" was organized. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno presented an information platform on the export of educational services and an exhibition of creative works of foreign students "World impression".

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the diplomatic corps, rectors and vice-rectors of institutions of higher education in the Republic of Belarus. On behalf of participants and guests of the solemn opening of the republican festival, Eduard Tomilchik, the Head of the Main Department of Educational work and Youth Policy of the Ministry of Education, welcomed audience.

Hasan Bepari, a first-year student of the Faculty of Pedagogy, said: “Such outstanding events as the republican festival of creativity of foreign students “F. - ART.by” unite people of all nationalities, whose representatives study at universities of the Republic of Belarus. It is a great opportunity to find new friends and tell everyone about our university”.

On  November 17, International Students’ Day, the most active and initiative students acted as vice-rectors, deans and teachers at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

Today ten students played roles of headers. Among them is Jana Milyuk, student of the pedagogical faculty, the Chairman of the Coordinating  Student Council. The girl took on the role of the senior vice-rector and got acquainted with the nuances of this responsible and difficult work.

Yana said: “I recognized that the senior vice-rector has a very busy schedule, and a list of duties is a long list. In the new position, I happen to host an honorary guest at the university - Alexander Kremer, Head of the World Bank's government in the Republic of Belarus and see how negotiations and meetings are held at a high level. Also, with Irina Fedorovna Kiturko, Senior Vice-rector of the university, we discussed activities of the Coordinating Student Council and took part in the transfer of a time capsule to the Museum of History of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno”.

By the way, all students interested in imprinting of this solemn and important moment in the life of the university were invited.

Irina Fyodorovna said, greeting participants of the event: “Dear students, you were honored to be present at such an amazing event - a symbolic "laying" of the time capsule. I congratulate you on the International Students’ Day. This is the first, you can say, professional holiday in your life, because now you are students. I wish you successfully get a profession in the Yanka Kupala State University, which will open the door for you and will instil confidence in you. Active members of the Coordinating Student Council wrote a wish to the students of 2027: "You are keeping in hand a capsule of time, which we, students-2017, have laid for you on International Students’ Day. For us, student life is time of activity, positive emotions and self-realization. On the way to profession, we set goals and achieve them, we win and we rejoice at achievements. Dare, conquer, create, take the initiative, make your own discoveries, and let all your achievements be for the benefit of your native university and the Republic of Belarus! We hope that 10 years ago we laid the foundation for a new tradition, and you will support us and write your wishes to the students of 2037."

The time capsule will be kept in the Museum of History of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for the next 10 years as one of the exhibits.

During the Days of Self-Government in Grodno University a number of interesting events were held. For example, for the first time students took an exam from teachers within the framework of the action "We were students, too ". A day before the test, the invitations and the list of questions for preparation developed by representatives of the Coordinating Student Council was sent.

The organizers said: “At the exam teachers came with record books. Each of them pulled a ticket, which included two theoretical questions and one practical task. By the way, the questions were related to the traditions and history of the university, student life, besides, the students included as it is called "comic" questions, so that each examiner could concont”.

And at the same time, the students of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno passed the quest on the territory of the university. The students had to successfully complete a number of tasks and answer numerous questions just like the teachers at the exam. The best in the quest were students of the Faculty of Law, students of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics showed good knowledge.

Also on the International Students’ Day everyone could leave the most kind and sincere words to the entire academic community of students on the Board of Wishes in all buildings of the university. Day before guys were able to have fun at the party "Univer: Students’ Day" in the youth center "Grodno". The student press center worked actively at the events.

Days of student self-government will end with the final  show of first-year students talents"Alma mater - love since the first year". The best creative team of faculty will be announced tonight. In addition, the winner of the contest "I'm a student of the best teacher" will be known for the most original selfie with a teacher.

According to the participants of the Days of Self-Government, who were able to try their hands at executive positions today, such events are necessary for any university. The students note that this allows to get acquainted with activities of the leaders, to take responsibility and, at last, get acquainted with the organization of work at the university.

Jana Milyuk, the Chairman of the Coordinating Student Council, the participant of the events, said: “Days of student self-government are an opportunity to approve yourself, to know what you are capable of and whether you are ready to become a leader in future. The days of self-government are also experience, new skills that will be useful in future professional activities.

Teachers and pedagogists of Belarus, Russia and Poland discussed pre-university education at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

Within two days, teachers and educators from the three countries will share their experience, get knowledge and exchange impressions.

Yury Belykh, vice-rector for academic matters at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno said, greeting the participants of the conference: “The topic of the conference "Methodology and technologies of pre-university education" is relevant. At present, it is important not only to support the interest of young people in education, but also to stimulate it. I hope that the result of your work during the scientific forum will be new ideas, cooperation projects, and this will all have a logical continuation. I wish everyone a good work and a good day!”

The conference takes place at the Yanka Kupala State University for the second time. And, as Svetlana Kovalevskaya, Head of the Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Head Education Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee noted, Grodno University became a center for discussion of topical issues of modern education not by chance.

Svetlana Stanislavovna said: “Grodno region has been a leader of the Belarusian education system for many years. The success of Grodno school students and university students would not have been possible without work of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. As the result of this Grodno region became one of the best regions of the country based on the results of centralized testing and participation of students in subject Olympiads. It is very pleasant that the Education Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the university cooperate and hold together many events, among which are the forum "Prospects for talented youth", handing of 100-ball certificates to applicants. All of them bear fruit and will enlarge the treasury of the region's success in the field of education”.

Representatives of St. Petersburg State Economic University, Don State Technical University, BSU and Grodno University gave a speech to participants at the plenary session. The lectures spoke about the place of the system of innovative educational technologies in the strategy of pre-university education, a system of continuous education, peculiarities of adaptation of foreign citizens in BSU, professional self-determination of pupils, future applicants, and the qualitative designing of educational programs.

During the conference sections will be worked and the participants will consider the technologies of pre-university education, innovative forms of career guidance and innovations in the training of foreign citizens.

A master class and a seminar are to be held at the university on November 17, 2017.

Teachers, psychologists, social teachers of institutions of general secondary education were invited to the master class "My STARTUP" for professional self-determination of high school students.

During the meeting, high school students will try to solve an open heuristic task and answer the question: “My “profession of the future”- what is it?” The event is focused on involvement of adolescents in creative productive activities aimed at search for personal meaning, weighing various factors, steps regarding profession choice, adjustment  of it to adolescents further aspirations, self-realization in the future sphere of professional activity, lifestyle and culture in general.

The seminar "From creative search, improvement of professional competencies - to Olympus" will be devoted to research activity of pupils. It will be held by Andrei Herman, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, and Irina Korlyukova, Head of the Department of Current Technologies of Pre-university Education. Participants plan to discuss issues of research activities of students, organizational and methodological features of research activities of school students and system of activities on working with endow students of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
