A representative of Kupala University is among the winners of the XXIII International competition of scientific papers Bozhena Eremich, a Master's degree student at the Faculty of Law, was awarded the second degree

More than 150 students, undergraduates, postgraduates and teachers of higher educational institutions of the CIS took part in the XXIII International competition of scientific papers. The XXIII international competition of scientific papers was organized by the All-Russian society for scientific research "ARSSR PTScience" in September 2020 as part of the implementation of the international competition project PTScience.
According to the results of participation in the competition, Bozhena Eremich, a Master's student of the Faculty of Law, was awarded a II-degree diploma in the category “Scientific articles in legal sciences” for her work on the topic: "On the need to adopt common standards for legal clinics in the Republic of Belarus". The article was prepared under the guidance of Natalia Ramult, senior lecturer of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure, Head of the legal clinic of Law Faculty of Yanka Kupala State University.

Language cafes take place at Yanka Kupala State University Kupala residents are invited to improve their knowledge of Polish and English in an interactive format

Within the framework of language cafes, participants have the opportunity to improve their level of foreign language proficiency by communicating in an informal setting on specific topics. This year's meetings are held in Polish and English. Students of our University, as well as foreign students – native speakers who came to Yanka Kupala State University to take part in academic exchange programs, traditionally act as the leading language cafes. So, the host of this year's Polish language evenings is Tomasz Hyła, a student from Poland who is studying at Kupala University as part of the Erasmus+ program. 5-year students of the Faculty of Philology Victoria Galaburda and Polina Sadiuk help with the practice of English.
Traditionally, meetings are held in an interactive format. The organizers offer participants the necessary set of foreign vocabulary for familiarization. Using it, participants discuss a given topical topic in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The level of knowledge of the language does not matter.
The next meeting of the Polish language cafe will be held on Wednesday, October 14, and you can communicate in English on Friday, October 16. Language cafes will be held on these days in the main building of the University at the address: Ozheshko, 22, room 334. Meetings start at 18.15.
The organizers invite everyone to join the interactive evenings. They are held weekly in both languages. Pre-registration is required to participate in them. Language cafes in different languages have been held at Yanka Kupala State University for four years. Last year cafes were organized in Spanish and proved to be very popular among students and employees of the University. The language cafes are organized annually by the Education Internalization Centre together with the ESN YKSUG club of international student initiatives.

Head of the Grodno region Vladimir Karanik got acquainted with the possibilities of the Science and Technology Park of Yanka Kupala State University

The Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee spoke with residents and discussed the prospects for the development of the Technopark with the University management.
Currently, the construction of a new building of the Science and Technology Park is going on. According to the regulatory deadlines, the completion of the second stage is scheduled for May 2021. Work is being carried out ahead of the schedule, and residents are actively forming a waiting list for office and industrial premises in the new building of the Technology Park. At the moment, the demand for office space is satisfied with 80 percent. All available space in the first building, which was opened two years ago, is already occupied by the residents.
– The main direction of economic development at the present stage is innovation, – the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Karanik said during a visit to the Technology Park. – One of the obvious advantages of such Technology parks is that people of different interests and activities gather here. After all, it is at the intersection of the interests of representatives of different spheres that new, most interesting and breakthrough technologies are born.
The total area of the first building of Yanka Kupala State University Science and Technology Park is more than a thousand square meters. With the commissioning of the second stage of the Technology Park for creating innovative products, potential residents will have another 6.5 thousand square meters, while half of the area will be provided for organizing the production process.
– We will provide residents with technological opportunities, and they will be able to place their equipment here and produce an innovative product, –Yury Ramanouski, Vice-Rector for Science at Yanka Kupala State University commented. – At the moment, we continue to form a waiting list and accept applications from residents who wish to rent production facilities in the Technology Park. I would like to remind you of the preferences that residents of the Science and Technology Park can expect: preferential rental of equipment and space, income tax at a lower rate, as well as the possibility of access to University scientific thought.

12 resident companies have already taken advantages provided by the Technology Park. By the way, almost half of them were opened by the staff and students of Yanka Kupala State University. The Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee was also told that a lot of work is being done at Yanka Kupala State University to attract students and teachers to innovative entrepreneurship during his visit to the Technology Park. Vladimir Karanik spoke with residents and noted that the region has a fairly good industrial potential and the most promising scientific developments, having been tested in small-scale production, can later be launched into large-scale industrial production at enterprises of the Grodno region. Thus, the Science and Technology Park can stimulate the emergence of innovative industries in the region and create new jobs.

The elimination rounds of the competition "Alma Mater – love from the first year – 2020" will be held at Yanka Kupala State University

Freshmen of the University's Faculties will present their creative performances to the audience and the jury.
The competition "Alma Mater – love from the first year" will celebrate its anniversary this year. Traditionally, the final is preceeded by elimination rounds: for several days, each Faculty demonstrates its performances to compete for victory in the main creative competition of Kupala University. Freshmen take part in the performances.
Performances of Kupala students will start on October 26 and will last until October 29. The topic of the contest is "25 years – love from the first year!".
On Monday, October 26, freshmen of the Faculties of Mathematics and Informatics, Innovative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering and Construction will show their performances.
On Tuesday, October 27, Kupala residents are invited to evaluate the performances of students of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Physical Education.
On Wednesday, October 28, cadets of the Military Faculty, students of the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Biology and Ecology will take the stage at Kupala University.
The elimination rounds of the competition will end on Thursday, October 29, with performances of freshmen teams of the Faculty of Art and Design, Pedagogy and Law Faculties.

14 students of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno were transferred from the fee-paid to the free-of-charge type of education

A meeting of the commission of transferring students to study at the expense of the Republican budget took place at Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno.

The transfer was made according to the availability of free budget places at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno at the end of the previous academic year. The competition for filling vacant budget places was attended by 20 students who study well, who have achieved high results in research and public works.

As a result of the meeting of the commission, 14 students were transferred from the fee-paid to the free-of-charge type of education. This number is by the way 6 people more than in the last academic year. These are students of the faculty of arts and design, faculty of history, communication and tourism, faculty of economics and management, faculty of innovative mechanic engineering, law and philological faculties.

We also remind that this year 167 students of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno who study on a paid basis and have high results in educational, research and social work, received discounts on fees at the rate of 20 to 60% of the whole tuition fee.

Over the past five years at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, 518 students have received these types of social support from the state at Yanka Kupala state University. 475 of these students got discounts on tuition and 43 students were transferred to the free-of-charge type of education.

The virtual guide provides all the information about the unified educational platform of the university, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to use it for training and communication. According to the head of the educational and methodological department of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno, Marina Kolotsey, educational portal was created in 2011 and it is a network platform, a single information resource that contains organizational and all educational materials for each academic discipline that ensure the educational process at the university. In addition, the educational portal of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno is not just a repository of information, but an effective interactive platform for communication between teachers and students, as well as students among themselves. An electronic publication "Educational portal: to the teacher and student" was created in order to show the numerous opportunities and tools of the educational platform to teachers and students.

The first part of the publication includes recommendations for teachers on how to use the main tools of the portal, in particular, the modules "Lecture", "Task", Forum", "Seminar", "Wiki", "Test", as well as instructions on how to organize distance learning in the format of webinars and video conferences using WebEx, Zoom and Microsoft Teams services. The second part of the electronic manual contains tips and recommendations for students about using educational materials of the educational portal, instructions for participants of remote classes in real time, and information about their personal account. By the way, the electronic publication "Educational portal: for teachers and students" has already been published on the Educational portal, and it is planned to be published in the personal account of each first-year student in the near future.

Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno announced a competition for grants for research and innovation projects

Grants will be allocated from the innovative development foundation, which was formed at the university in December last year.

The competition is open and will take place at the university for the second time. Participants of the competition can be both individual researchers and research teams from among full-time employees of the university, including separate structural divisions, students, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students, as well as scientific associations of the university students from among student research laboratories and student design bureaus. Materials and information submitted to the project competition must be original and not contain information that explicitly or indirectly violates any obligations of confidentiality of authors or intellectual property rights.

Financial support from the innovative development foundation of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno can be provided on a competitive basis to employees and students of the university who are working on the realization of innovative projects planned for inclusion in the State program of innovative development of the Republic of Belarus, the realization of export-oriented innovative projects, as well as projects aimed at creating and organizing the activities of small innovative enterprises engaged in commercialization of the results of scientific activities of the university. Employees, students, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students of the university can apply for grants, whose scientific and innovative activities are aimed at research, design and development works that ensure the creation and production of new products, improved technologies and services new to our Republic and the world economy, as well as the acceleration and realization of innovative projects and developments, ensuring the realization of research results in the production process of enterprises and organizations in the country.

The competition for grants will take place in 3 stages. The first stage starts on September 21 and continues until October 30. During this period, participants must submit an application for the competition, the business project and its feasibility study, as well as the estimated financial costs of the project. Only one application is accepted from each participant. Participants of the competition can provide additional documents to the project, including reference materials related to the implementation of research, development and development work, as well as work on the development and production of new types of goods and services. The subject of projects submitted for the competition must correspond to the list of priority areas of scientific and technical activities and the list of priority areas of scientific research of the Republic of Belarus.

From 2 to 30 November, the examination of the submitted materials will be carried out. During the examination the papers will be evaluated on criteria such as innovation, technological way of introduced technologies and their origins, the planned volume of production of high technology products, commercial and export potential development, the payback period of the project, the reality of the timing of the stages and work in whole, the validity of estimated costs. When selecting projects for funding from the university's innovation development foundation, priority will be given to projects based on technologies of the V and VI technological structures, as well as those that end with the release and sale of innovative products. The selection of projects and summing up of the competition results will take place from December 1 to December 20, 2020.

The competition for grants for research and innovation projects is aimed at creating conditions for supporting the commercialization of scientific results, stimulating research and innovation activities of employees and students of the university, selecting promising research and innovation projects for further assistance in their implementation and promotion, and developing project skills among the participants of the competition, creating conditions for the potential and personal growth of the contest participants and ensuring the realization of the University's development priorities.

The summer sports festival took place at Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno

Sport holiday brought together staff and students of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno. Irina Kiturko, rector of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno, welcomed participants, fans and representatives of jury and opened the summer sports festival. – Today we are gathered here in the fresh air to improve our health. And the good weather confirms that, despite the autumn on the calendar, the summer sports Festival takes place on a wonderful warm day, – told Irina Kiturko all participants. - I wish all athletes good luck, and fans do not spare their applause, actively supporting the participants of the competition! Each person could take part in the summer sports festival. Employees and students of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno competed in such disciplines as long jumpsl, forward bends, jogging, chin-ups and abs-exercises. A pleasant bonus for sports and active residents of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno – participants and fans of the festival – was a tea party, which complemented the sport event.

The campaign for settling to hostels starts at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on August 28

The campaign for settling to hostels of first-year students will last from August 28 to August 31. In order not to lose the right of accommodation in the hostel for 2020-2021 academic years, students need to address for the direction on the settlement, to have a medical check-up and check in a hostel no later than September 5.
Kupala residents will be informed about time and place as well as rules of living in a hostel remotely, using information technology.
Besides, moving to the hostel, students will be instructed on fire safety rules and will study the internal regulations of the hostel.
It should be noted that today the campus includes five hostels in Dovatora St., 27, BLK St., 3; Proletarskaya St., 16 and in Limoges St., 27/1. More than 2000 students live there. The opening of the sixth hostel in Dubko Street will become one of the most expected events of the beginning of academic year. The modern 13-storey hostel will open doors for 1030 students.
