Azerbaijan, Irak, China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan… Hundreds of foreign students from 10 countries of the world at Yanka Kupala Grodno State University were united by the creative living room "Belarus – the crossroads of national cultures".

This year, representatives of 13 universities of Belarus, Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the multinational cultural dialogue. Among them are: Tashkent State University of Law, Volgograd State University, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute.

Irina Kiturko, Rector of Kupala University, gave a strat to the cultural international event:

– Belarus is a unique country. This is a «living room», a home for many nationalities. We appreciate the versatility, multinational, multicultural nature of our country. The task of our university, as well as the whole Republic of Belarus, is to make students who come to study, feel at home here. And when they go home, so they can take with themselves a piece of Belarus in their hearts.

The program of the creative living room is rich. During the day the talents, culture and national traditions of their countries were demonstrated by the students in various contests and competitions. And also – we got acquainted, talked, had an interesting and fun time, exchanged impressions. Some of them have known Belarus for a long time, while others are just beginning to discover its beauty.

Umidbek Ekubzhanov, student of the Law Faculty of the Yanka Kupala State University (Uzbekistan): – I am in Belarus for the first time and arrived a few months ago. The main thing that impressed me was the people. I have never met such kind people anywhere. And this place have a very interesting history and a beautiful city. My favorite places here are the old Sovetskaya Street and the embankment with two Castles.

The students demonstrated their knowledge and intellectual capabilities in the brain ring. The participants admitted that they had to prepare for the game with all their might. There are many and different questions – about history, religious traditions, national heroes. They fought not only in intellectual tournaments, but also revealed the creative national flavor. One of the most colorful interactive platforms was the round table "Evolution of the national costume". Here, foreign students not only talked about national clothes, but also demonstrated them in a unique variety.

Alonso Jose Cespere Savalo Student of the Faculty of Law of the Yanka Kupala State University (Venezuela): – I represent the national Venezuelan costume, which is called "Likvi likvi". We have many versions of this costume – each region of Venezuela has its own version. I want to show the most popular and latest model. And I will be glad to introduce to Belarusian students  a piece of the culture of my country.

There are many opportunities to show talents in the creative living room. So, at the readers' contest " Мой родны кут, як ты мне мілы", the poems of the classics Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas melodiously sounded with English, French and Chinese accents. The bright final of the event was the concert "Voices of thousands of national cultures".

Then the event was attended by representatives of three Grodno universities and the Belarusian State University. Over the years, the geography of the event has expanded. Now the creative living room has become international. Guests from foreign universities come to communicate, share traditions with pleasure.
