Development of International Dialogue: Lecturers of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Implement a Joint Educational Programme in China

Lecturers of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of Kupala University – Elizaveta Uzlova, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, and Anastasia Sakovich, Associate Professor of the Department of Systems Biology – are conducting classes at Qilu Normal University (People's Republic of China). The visit was organized within the framework of the implementation of the experimental joint educational programme "Biology 4+0" and is aimed at strengthening academic ties between the partner universities.
The educational process for Chinese second-year students is organized in lecture and laboratory formats. The lecturers of YKSUG teach the specialized disciplines "Microbiology" and "Plant Ecology," successfully combining the transmission of fundamental theoretical knowledge with intensive practical work.
Particular interest among international students is aroused by laboratory workshops, where theoretical material finds direct practical application. Under the guidance of Belarusian specialists, the students work with biological objects, master modern research methods and learn to analyze the results in detail. This format allows Chinese students not only to assimilate the academic modules more deeply, but also to clearly see the integration of biological science into research and professional activity.
The joint educational programme "Biology 4+0" serves as an effective platform for professional, scientific and cultural interaction between representatives of the two universities. For the teaching staff of YKSUG, this is an excellent opportunity to share advanced domestic experience and get acquainted with the specifics of the organization of higher education in China. In turn, for Chinese students, this is a unique chance to learn from leading specialists from a different educational environment and significantly expand their understanding of modern biological science.
The successful implementation and development of this programme serve as another confirmation of the systematic strengthening of the international academic ties of Kupala University and the expansion of the horizons of scientific and educational cooperation.

Work is cool! It was under this motto that the work semester was held for 19 international students who became part of the university's construction student team.

Its participants were students from Xinjiang Normal University (China) and a representative from Germany. The organizer was the Department of Russian Philology, which prepared an intensive and diverse programme for the guests.
Over three weeks, the participants completed 60 academic hours of Russian language – daily four-hour classes helped them make significant progress in learning grammar, vocabulary and conversational speech. Additionally, each participant could choose one of three 10-hour special courses: "Karaoke in Russian," "Linguistic and Cultural Studies," or "Business Russian."
The educational part was harmoniously complemented by cultural and educational activities. A series of lectures on the history and culture of Belarus were organized for the guests, daily language practice with Belarusian students was arranged, as well as master classes on national cuisine and making traditional souvenirs. Bright highlights of the programme were excursions around Grodno, the Grodno region and other iconic places of the country. The participants deepened their language skills and also gained a unique opportunity to get to know Belarusian traditions, everyday life and hospitality more closely.
The closing ceremony of the Russian Language Summer School was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. He thanked the students for choosing YKSUG and noted that over three weeks of study they had a unique opportunity not only to significantly improve their language competencies, but also to get to know the rich culture, unique traditions of Belarus and the centuries-old history of Grodno.
The event acquired special significance because six out of seven school participants represent Xinjiang Normal University (China) – a long-standing and reliable partner of YKSUG. Liavontsi Paulau emphasised that the development of this cooperation has become an important stage in the university's international activities. The Vice-Rector also warmly welcomed the guest from Germany and expressed hope that she would return home with the brightest impressions and would definitely tell her friends and fellow students about the weeks spent at the school.

At the university, teachers explain grammar clearly. At first, it was difficult for me to speak Russian, but now I feel that my language skills are improving quickly. In class, we read texts and did exercises. I am very glad that I came here. This trip gave me a lot of new knowledge and vivid impressions. I will remember my studies here for a long time."

For the third time, it has opened its doors to ambitious young people ready to present and implement advanced ideas. This year, the school acquired international status, bringing together 100 young analysts from Belarus, Russia and China, as well as specialists from various fields. Among the participants are students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
At the Summer School our university is represented by third-year students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science Victorya Akulchik and Ilya Pomas, fourth-year students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science Palina Kavtsevich, Sofia Myachina and Euhenia Malevich, fourth-year student of the Faculty of Law Marya Maretskaya, second-year student of the Faculty of Pedagogy Marya Matyuk, fourth-year student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism Veranika Melnik, and third-year student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism Daria Ptashits.

Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Ekaterina Petrutskaia addressed the gathering with a welcoming speech. She emphasized the importance of the youth analytical movement:
– The opinion of talented young people is very important to us, as they are capable of proposing non-standard solutions. It is gratifying that the project has acquired a truly international scale, uniting the best minds from different countries. I am convinced that the synergy of cultures and competencies will allow us to reach a new level of effectiveness and give us truly breakthrough ideas that will form the basis of future strategies.
The Young Analyst Summer School has already established itself as a platform for exchanging experience, establishing business and friendly relations, and generating new ideas. Darya Ptashits is participating in the Young Analyst Summer School for the second time and notes that the school is a place where one can communicate directly with leading experts.
– There are not many platforms where young people can offer their ideas and discuss them with managers of such a level. And the international format of the school gives a fresh perspective on familiar things: when students from different countries come together in one team, non-standard solutions are born, we learn to understand each other and find answers to common challenges, – the student noted.
During the training, participants will enjoy exclusive lectures and master classes from recognized experts from relevant ministries and departments, work with experts from the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies and BelHARD company, and practical sessions on solving real business cases. The programme includes an excursion to the Great Stone Industrial Park, a trip to Brest, as well as cultural and sports events.

A feat that unites: international students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno touched the history of the Great Victory

On August 11, the international students of YKSUG had a day far from the usual summer routine – it turned into a real journey through time. The students residing in Dormitory No. 3 (BLK, 3), together with teacher-organizer Karyna Toustyuk and educator Volha Shcherbakova, set off to the legendary memorial complex "Kurgan Slavy" (Mound of Glory) – a place where history comes alive and memory speaks louder than words.
The excursion turned out to be both educational and deeply moving. The students learned with genuine interest about the history of the monument's creation, its architectural solutions and the symbolism embedded in every element of the majestic structure. Particular delight was caused by the open-air exhibition of military equipment – the legendary vehicles from the war years appeared before their eyes, and most importantly, they allowed them to feel the incredible price at which the Victory was won.
The culmination of the visit was the acquaintance with the capsule containing a message to future generations. This touching moment made everyone think about the fragility of peace and how important it is to preserve historical truth. For the young people, "Kurgan Slavy" became a living reminder that heroism has no nationality, and memory knows no borders. After all, the feat accomplished many decades ago still unites the hearts of those who honour the past for the sake of a peaceful future.
