Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno learned about the changes to be made to the updated Education Code and were invited to attend one of the spring parliamentary sessions.
Lilya Kiryak is the Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. Welcoming the students of the University, she noted that it was very important for her to have a frank discussion on relevant topics with representatives of her home university.
– I look forward to an honest conversation and I’m ready to answer any questions or suggestions you may have, said Lilia Kiryak. - There are future teachers among you, so I am sure you will be interested to learn about some of the innovations of the draft new Code on Education of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the deputy, the draft of the new Code envisages the amendment of those articles that define the rights and obligations of participants in the educational process. Lilia Kiryak also drew attention to innovations in the bill related to social support for graduates of higher education institutions. In particular, young professionals and associated preferences now will be available to university graduates who have paid for higher education. The target enrolment in institutions of higher education will be expanded in order to ensure a personnel contract, and the restrictions for target areas will be removed on the basis of area. A further innovation is the adoption of the new Education Code, distance education as an independent form of education would be legislated, noted Lilia Kiryak.
During the meeting, the participants asked whether the status of Master would be enshrined in legislation. The Member of the House of Representatives replied that work was under way and that the status of the Master would subsequently be specified in a by-law. In addition, students were interested in the distribution of graduates, asked about the creation of conditions for the self-realization of young people in the chosen profession, discussed ideas on how to support young and talented children to stay in the study and work in the home country. They also spoke about various youth initiatives, volunteer activities and the importance of civic and patriotic education in the educational institutions of Belarus.

At the beginning of the competition, the leaders noted the symbolism of the holiday: «Miss and Mister University» takes place in 2021 in the 21st century and 21st time. This time it was special for students of YKSUG - last year the final part of the competition wasn’t held due to epidemiological situation. That is why this spring celebration of beauty, youth and artistic prowess took place under the motto «Reboot», giving all spectators of the contest the opportunity to enjoy truly beautiful and impressive show. Yanka Kupala State University’s Rector Irina Kiturko welcomed the participants, guests and jury.
– Today, there will be harmony, flourishing and the sincerest feelings, all of the 8 boys and 8 girls are wonderful. They have already achieved their first victory - victory over themselves - by coming to this stage.
Irina Kiturko noted that she was particularly pleased to see the first year students who had just became members of a YKSYG family and were not afraid to make a serious move by loudly declaring themselves on the university’s main stage.

For two and a half hours, the students surprised the guests in competitive defiles and incredible choreographic numbers, and revealed their special talents in a creative contest. There were all kinds of dances at the stage: with notes of the east and elements of the contempt, sensual slow and enthusiastically dynamic. The contestants also recited poetry and demonstrated excellent vocal abilities. The holder of the title «Miss University - 2021» became a student of the 3rd course of the Law Faculty Karin Sorgovitskaya. She received a handmade tiara from the winner of the 2019 contest, Gleb Kodentsova. The title «Mister University - 2021» was won by 1-year student of the faculty of physical culture Miroslav Romanchuk. The symbol of the contest - the velvet cylinder - was presented to him by the holder of the title Miss University - 2019» Tatiana Scherbach. Winners were awarded with monetary certificates from the university for the sum of 500 rubles, as well as the possibility of free education in the driving school «Autoelite».
The winners of the competition were determined and in separate nominations - the children received gifts from partners and monetary certificates from Yanka Kupala State University. Maria Kaminskaya, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Innovative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering, was awarded the titles «Miss Internet» and «Miss Audience Sympathies», becoming the best on the results of voting online and in the auditorium.
«Miss friendship» according to the version of the contestant of the contest was a student of the 1st course of the philological faculty Ekaterina Matyukevich, and participants named the holder of the title «Mister leader» - it became a student of the faculty of physical culture Miroslav Romanchuk. The visit of the delegation from the Russian Federation to the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took place on the 29th of March.
Head of the Department of Pressure Metal Processing Igor Mazur and Head of the Department of International Relations Anna Pozdniakova represented the Lipetsk State Technical University. Head of the International Center of Education Elena Belokoz, Dean of Engineering and Construction Faculty Alla Volik, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Innovative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering Victor Voropaev, Professor of Materials Science and Resource Saving Technologies Gennady Kostyukovich and Chief Metallurgist of JSC «Belkard» Nikolay Deshuk represented the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Igor Mazur, Head of the Department of Pressure Metal Processing, noted the recent increase in interaction between Russian and Belarussian universities in the field of education and science, with an emphasis on the involvement of the regions of both countries. Head of the International Center of Education, Yelena Belokoz stressed that Yanka Kupala State University was actively developing international cooperation and constantly searches for new directions and proposals for joint programmes and that it has more than 200 cooperation agreements—most of them with Russian universities.
During the negotiations, representatives of the Lipetsk State Technical University discussed with colleagues from the Yanka Kupala State University the implementation of the «Visiting Professor» program, the implementation of individual education for foreign students on the educational standards of Belarus. Separately, the parties referred to the post-college or post-college education process - what benefits are provided to students and what programs they continue to receive. The representatives of the Lipetsk State Technical University expressed particular interest in the mobility of students of intermediate and higher education institutions, with the possibility of internships in local enterprises.
Youth Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goals and the student of the YKSUG Yaroslava Sapach held a meeting with the students of Yanka Kupala State University
The theme of meeting on March 31 was «Sustainable development - the future of the planet in our hands».
The idea of meeting with students of different faculties and the activation of the Coordinating Student Council was initiated by Yaroslava Sapach, a fourth-year student of the Biology and Ecology Faculty and Youth Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals. She informed students about 17 sustainable development goals, their history and significance in today’s world, noting that they were a call to action from all countries, aimed at improving human well-being and protecting the entire planet.
The meeting continued with a dialogue on what is being done in Belarus to implement the Sustainable Development Goals and with a discussion with the students on what they can do to fulfil those ideas in their daily lives.

The Professor of Theoretical Physics and Heat Engineering, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Slavamir Anoufric was awarded with the Certificate of merit of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research and with the memorial sign «In honour of the 90th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» for achievements in the field of laser physics and optics, fruitful development of international scientific cooperation, the successful implementation of the projects of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.
Certificate of merit of YKSUG was given to the head of the Information and Analytical Centre, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Evgeniy Olizarovich for many years of fruitful work, high achievements in professional activity and for significant personal contribution to the development of the Yanka Kupala State University. During the University Council meeting the rector of YKSUG Iryna Kiturko congratulated her colleagues for conferring academic degrees and titles. Head Professor of the Foreign Languages Department Natalia Levchenko and Senior Professor of Finance and Accounting, Candidate of Economic Sciences Anastasia Chigrina were awarded with the Candidate’s degree of Philology. The academic title of assistant professor in specialty «Military Art and Military Construction» was awarded to Igor Naryshkin.
The best student scientific associations were named in the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Student scientific circles, research laboratories and the design bureau of the Yanka Kupala State University took part in the competition of student scientific associations.
The competition was held with the aim of stimulating and popularizing scientific research activities of swimmers and supporting student scientific societies of the university.
In order to participate, the contestants provided an annual report on their research and innovation activities and a list of published research papers by members of student science societies. Following the results of the competition of student scientific associations, the winner and diploma holder of the I degree became the student scientific circle «Theory and history of music art in the context of culture» of the musical art department, of the faculty of arts and design. Head of the student scientific circle is Tatiana Baranovskaya, head of the Musical Art Department. The II-degree Diploma is given to the student scientific circle of the Department of Romance-German Philology of the Faculty of Philology under the supervision of the Assistant Professor of Romano-German Philology Svetlana Maslennykova. III-degree Diploma is awarded to the Sociological Research Laboratory of the Department of Sociology and Special Sociological Disciplines of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism Head of Department of Sociology and Special Sociological Disciplines—Nikolai Myslivec.

The agreement on the implementation of the joint educational program was signed by the Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Iryna Kiturka, and the Rector of the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade, Sarsengaly Abdymanapov. The official launch of the program was announced during an online meeting between the two universities.

– The Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno cooperates with universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the framework of 16 agreements on international cooperation, noted Yury Bialykh. - Effective cooperation in the educational and scientific fields has been established with regional and capital institutions of higher education in Kazakhstan. Today, we are pleased to launch our joint educational program with the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade to train masters in economics.
The training will be implemented under the «1+1» pattern. It is planned that master’s students from Kazakhstan will start their studies in Yanka Kupala State University in the second semester of the new academic year. In the first semester they will study at the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade.
– We have been cooperating with this university in educational and scientific activities for more than five years. But realization of such joint educational program for us is a pioneering project, - shared the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Marina Karpitskaya. The joint training of master’s students in economics will take into account our practical-oriented component as well as the presence of elements of digital economy at Yanka Kupala State University, as many subjects will be taught in our IT-laboratories. Representatives of Grodno enterprises - our personnel customers - will be involved in the educational process. I’m sure the program will be eventful. We are now developing road maps within the framework of the signed agreement and we are preparing to receive the first group of masters from Kazakhstan.
The possibilities of joint master’s students training according to pattern «1 semester + 1 semester» were discussed as early as November last year during the visit to Yanka Kupala State University by Asel Rakhimbekova — the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Kazakh University of Economics, and International Trade. The visit took place within the framework of realization of program «Invited Professor». It is now known that more than 20 master’s students from Kazakhstan will participate in the joint educational program.
Oleg Romanov was appointed the Rector of Polotsk State University
The appointment was approved by the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on March 11.
Until now, Oleg Romanov has been the first Vice-Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Oleg Romanov graduated from Yanka Kupala State University in 1997. In 2001, he defended his PhD thesis “Socialization of Personality under the Conditions of Social Transformation”. In 2012 he accomplished his doctorate program at the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Philosophy”, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and three years later defended his doctoral thesis “The Eastern Slavic civilization as a subject of modern global social transformations”. Oleg Romanov was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Since 2000, Oleg worked at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor and professor at the Philosophy Department. Since February 2018, Oleg Romanov was the first Vice-Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Oleg Romanov was awarded a scholarship by the President of the Republic of Belarus as a talented young scientist in 2017. His research interests include the problems of the genesis, structure and prospects of the development of the Eastern Slavic civilization, classical and modern Russian philosophy, and the fate of the state in a globalizing world.
In 2019, Oleg Romanov was elected as a member of the National Assembly Council of the Republic of Belarus during the seventh convocation from the Grodno region. He was appointed to the position of the Rector of Polotsk State University on March 11, 2021.

The results of the advanced training for teachers and employees «University of Educational Innovation» were summarized in Yanka Kupala State University
About 50 university lecturers and staff attended the sixth season of the advanced training.
18 directors and specialists of educational and methodological offices mastered the content of the educational program «Organization and technical support of the educational process using ICT», and 30 teachers of the Yanka Kupala State University learned the content of programs «Innovative Teaching Methods».
From January to March, the course participants studied four training modules: «The Educational Portal of Yanka Kupala State University as an interactive educational platform», «Google Learning Services», «Video as a learning tool for teachers and students», «Microsoft Teams: creating a collaborative learning environment». The organizational methodology of the sessions has helped to establish a productive learning environment. During the course, participants recorded training promo- videos in Russian and English, in which they explained why subjects of different specializations were important for the development of the professional competences of future specialists.
The videos will be posted on the educational portal of YKSUG and the website of the electronic scientific and methodological journal «University of educational innovations». During the final event, the participants presented their experiences and shared their results on the course platform, in the classroom, in the computer room and in the video studio.
– The course programme was interesting and eventful. Despite the fact that some topics were already familiar, the moderator managed to present them from creative side - explained the head of the teaching and methodological office of linguistic computer technologies Elena Snezko.
– When I was recording a video in Academic Discipline, I didn’t think it would be possible to receive any personal information – shared the senior lecturer of the Department of Logistics and Management Methods Tatiana Gostik. - The video performs not only didactic functions, it allows to realistically evaluate one’s own work, behavior in front of the camera, the ability to be a convincing and interesting teacher.
– The platform Teams is aimed at active users - emphasized in communication with colleagues the course moderator, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Tatiana Vankova. - It will be a real breakthrough for teachers who focus on interaction with students who need instant feedback, for whom the productive activities of students during distance learning come first.
– The proposed courses were initially surprising. However, after a while, it became clear that their duration not only provide useful information from moderators and videos on discipline, but also expand the range of communication, learning about the experiences of colleagues working in other faculties, sharing their success, difficulties, plans, - noted Assistant Professor of Theoretical Physics and Thermal Engineering, Vladislav Kurstak.
Participants received certificates of advanced training from the moderators of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Five new educational and scientific laboratories are opened in the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development
2,350,000 euros under the loan have been allocated for the development of the material and technical base of the Yanka Kupala State University.
YKSUG —is one of 18 universities of the country that take part in the project of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus «Modernization of Higher Education of the Republic of Belarus». The project is carried out from 2021 to 2025 with funds from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The main funds of the loan will be directed towards the establishment of research and training laboratories in order to achieve the main objective of the project - to provide conditions for new quality practice-oriented learning as well as traditional specialties of higher education in Yanka Kupala State University, such as «Intellectual Systems», «Industrial robots and robotic complexes», «Applied physics», «Biochemistry», «Biology», «Ecology», «Industrial and civil construction», «Information and measuring technology».
From 2021 to 2023, new educational and scientific laboratories are being established at the Yanka Kupala State University on loan funds. It is a research laboratory of innovative building materials and energy efficient construction technology, training and research center «Smart House», training and production laboratory «Intelligent Systems and Robotics», laboratory workshop «Intellectual Protection» and inter-department training and production laboratory «Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology». The integrated use of laboratories equipped with the modern equipment will make it possible to improve the quality of specialists' training and to ensure a higher level of educational and research work within the framework of course and diploma design, Scientific and innovation activities of university students and employees.
