Staff members of YKSUG participated in International Scientific and Practical Conference “Results and perspectives of development of entomology in Eastern Europe”
2nd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Results and perspectives of development of entomology in Eastern Europe” took place on September 6th-8th at The Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources.
About 80 entomologists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, among them Aliaksandra Ryzhaya, assoc. prof. of YKSUG Zoology and physiology of humans and animals department, and Katsiaryna Gliakouskaya, laborant of Zoology and physiology of humans and animals department.
Aliaksandra Ryzhaya, organizational committee member, presented her paper “Ground beetles (Сoleoptera, Сarabidae) of peat briquetting plant vicinity (Lida region, Grodno oblast)”, and Katsiaryna Gliakouskaya presented her paper “Linden damaging phytophagous complex (Tilia L.) in green spaces of Grodno Poniemnie”.
Students and lecturers of YKSUG participate in Belarusian-Polish Law Academy
Joint classes of students and lecturers of YKSUG and University of Bialystok are conducted within the 1st Belarusian-Polish Law Academy
Belarusian-Polish Law Academy began its work on 11th September in Unibversity of Bialystok, YKSUG is represented by 6 students and 2 lecturers of the Faculty of Law.
Joint classes of two universities will last seven days, and during this week participants of the Academy are to study and compare fundamentals of Belarusian and Polish legislation, specifically constitutional, civil and criminal law. According to the words of Jaroslaw Matwejuk, University of Bialystok Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation between Eastern Europe Universities, both our countries are into commodities exchange and develop tourism, thus the necessity to know the fundamentals of both countries’ legislation is evident.
On the 14th September the Academy will continue its work in Faculty of Law of YKSUG. Represents of the two universities will attend lectures on civil and criminal law, participate in discussion and student event “Hospitable Belarus”.
Rounding-up and certificate issuing will take place on 16th September.
Diana Glukhava met the leading European jurists within the Human Rights Summer School in Lund (Sweden)
Cooperation between Legal Clinic of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and leading clinics of Belarus allowed Diana join courses at Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
The student became a participant of study program, which was aimed at development of participants’ practical skills of clients’ representation in the context of legal clinics activities. Besides our student, students of BSU, BSEU, PSU, The Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, MITSO, A.S. Pushkin State University of Brest and other universities participated in the Summer School, as well.
– This summer school included unique lectures and seminars for the clinical students of law faculties of the Republic of Belarus, conducted by the leading jurists of Belarus and Europe
Summer School allowed our student analyze practical experience of clinical legal education in Belarus and abroad.

Entrants of 2017 were initiated into YKSUG freshmen
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno hosted the initiation ceremony of former entrants into the freshmen. On the 30th August about 600 young people became members of large academic family of alma mater.
Following the tradition, Andrei Karol, the Rector, addressed students, their parents and guests and congratulated them with the coming academic year and Day of Knowledge.
– I congratulate with the beginning of the new stage of your lives, ‑ said Andrei Korol. – Collate between yourselves, create your own, but not the others, spread your vision and content into the world, without refusing historical and cultural heritage. During your study at YKSUG you will create new tasks and goals for yourselves, you will become adult and wise, and you will make new friends who will become loyal companions for you. I wish you do not lose yourselves, your uniqueness, won’t become a cliché, as the main result of the education is the search of oneself. Let the study at YKSUG stay in your memory with bright and joyful events for the rest of your lives. Be happy, remember your alma mater, congratulations to you!
The Rector issued student ID’s to the best freshmen, ones who achieved best scores in tests and entrance tasks. Between them were prizewinners of different stages of countrywide Olympics in school disciplines and school graduates with gold and silver medals.
During the initiation ceremony symbolic student ID and the Key to the Knowledge were given to the 1st year students, Anastasiya Kaliasen and Aliaksei Lipnevich, who got top points during the admission campaign. Pavel Siliavin, 3rd year students of the Law Faculty and member of Student Coordination Board, and Iryna Saulevich, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Pedagogy, congratulated students with the admission to Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno:
– You’ve made the right choice – you’ve chosen YKSUG. We hope that the path you’ve chosen will be a success and bring you to the victory. Good luck and success to you!
In turn, freshmen thanked everyone for the support during the admission campaign and expressed their hopes, that student life at YKSUG will be eventful. Freshmen, on behalf of all 1st year students, promised bring the dignifying name of “YKSUG student” with honor and pride.
The ceremony ended with a freshman’s oath. Students swore to bring the name of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno student with dignity, spare no effort to comprehend all fields of science, be worthy heirs of the Belarusian student traditions, be a sample of the honor, dignity, diligence and discipline, take active participation in public, scientific and cultural activities of alma mater, use obtained knowledge to empowerment and prosperity of the Republic of Belarus and be the worthy citizens of our country.
Student of the Faculty of Economics and Management of YKSUG Siamen Sorkin successfully completed traineeship in one of the leading universities of the world
The traineeship took place in Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
– I had a unique possibility to study features of enterprise activities of different organizational types in Israel. I’ve also discovered management structure in economic activity and foreign economic relations, – shared his impressions Siamen.
The work in libraries of Hebrew University, and National Library of Israel helped YKSUG student gather information for scientific conferences and diploma paper.

Improving knowledge in the field of programming and meet-up at HTP: how a student from Tunisia completed traineeship on the Faculty of Economics and Management of YKSUG
Traineeship took place in August, 2017 within IAESTE project at the Department of Mathematical and Informational Support of Economic Systems.
During her stay at the Faculty of the Economy and Management, Irad Chammam, student from Tunisia, got acquainted with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Belarusian educational system and got new knowledge in the field of programming. That was also a result of a meet-up@Grodno branch of Hi-tech Park, dedicated to the data analysis with R (“Comparison of standard of living of Polish regions and North Africa countries”).
Master students of “Applied computer data analysis” took part in the meet-up. Together with the represents of IT sphere and YKSUG lecturers they’ve discussed possibilities, problems and perspectives of information support, use of software and mathematical methods for analysis and management in social and economic, technical and other systems.
It shall be mentioned, that in April, 2017 students of the Faculty of Economics and Management together with the represents of HEI’s and research organizations from different countries participated in International Research and Study Programming School «R for solving statistical problems and visualization» in YKSUG.

The delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, headed by the Senior Vice-Rector Iryna Kiturka met with representatives of the University of Granada during the Staff Training Week, which the 9th time brought together participants from 15 countries of Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Delegates from YKSUG were the only representatives from Belarus for this major event.
During the Staff Training Week representatives of YKSUG attended seminars on the international aspects of mobility under the Erasmus+ programme, the organization of work with international students within the framework of incoming and outgoing mobility, acquainted with the educational system of Spain and the University of Granada. In addition, colleagues from Spain shared the experience of organization and management of academic mobility and usage of online procedures for the organization of academic mobility in the host University.
During the visit were held meetings with representatives of YKSUG and Spanish University. The parties discussed the promising directions of mutually beneficial cooperation in the 2017/2018 academic year and agreed on cooperation under the Visiting Professor Programme. So, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno will be visited by the Dean of the Faculty of Translation, University of Granada, Enrique F. Quero of Herve. In addition, lecturers of two higher education institutions will be able to publish their articles in scientific journals of the universities on a regular basis. The YKSUG stated willingness to accept students and staff of the University of Granada to Russian Language Summer School next year. Also colleagues reached agreement on the organization of training courses for employees of partner universities and joint participation in international projects.

During the meeting the parties discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation.
Welcoming the guests, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Yury Bialykh noted that this meeting was a continuation of the dialogue on cooperation between the two institutions of higher education, which was started in June during YKSUG delegation visit in China headed by the rector of the University Andrei Karol.
The Head of International Affairs of Xinjiang Normal University Ho Feng noted that Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno impressed as an institution of higher education with many years of experience of training of qualified specialists. In this regard, the representatives of the Chinese University called Chinese language training in YKSUG one of the key areas of interaction. In addition, during the meeting the parties talked about the establishment of closer academic contacts, as well as possible directions of joint research activities.

7th International Staff Training Week within Erasmus+ programe was held in Mikolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania) on3-7 July, 2017.
More than 40 staff members from 20 countries of the world took part in the event.
International Staff Training Week holds in order to broaden and deepen cooperation between European and Partner-countries universities within Erasmus+ programe. This time the meeting has been aimed on universities’ staff members, who are involved in the process of internationalization: staff members of international cooperation departments, international students offices, document management departments, project administration offices, library staff, as well, as faculty coordinators of international affairs. The 7th International Staff Training Week is a part of series of events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus+ programe.
Participants of the event had an opportunity to get acquainted with the organization of international cooperation, international project activities and academic exchanges in Mikolas Romeris University, exchange experience and make new contacts for further cooperation. Within the 7th International Staff Training Week Anna Bidnaya, the Head of the International Students and Academic Mobility Office of the Education Internationalization Center of YKSUG, presented educational opportunities and scientific potential of YKSUG foreign colleagues, shared her experience in organization of academic exchanges, realization of international projects, told about specifics of work with international students.

This is the result of Training mobility of Maryna Karpitskaya, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, to the University of Bialystok within “Erasmus+” programe
During the meeting with Marzanna Poniatowicz, the dean of the faculty of economics and management of the University of Bialystok, Maryna Karpitskaya discussed the programe of cooperation between the universities. She also invited staff members of UwB to join the “Visiting professor” programe. Also, Maryna Karpitskaya and Piotr Bialas discussed the possibility of future joint summer school.
The traineeship allowed Maryna Karpitskaya to get new experience in the organization of study process and scientific researches.
– I’ve studied the organization of study process, evaluation mechanisms and knowledge control of students, implementation of new educational technologies, attended lectures of leading specialists in economics.

Jan Piwnik visited Faculty of Innovative Mechanic Engineering of Yanka Kupalaa State University of Grodno within the “Visiting Professor” programe.
During the visit, the professor conducted lectures and practical classes with Master students of “”В рамках визита гость провел лекционные и практические занятия с магистрантами специальности «Construction Materials Processing In Machinery Manufacturing» in disciplines «Resource saving technologies of machinery manufacturing» and «Progressive processing processes of construction materials ».
During the meetings with the faculty staff Jan Piwnik shared his experience of work on international projects, ordered by Swiss, Austrian and Canadian enterprises.

First interdisciplinary diploma project defended at YKSUG
Students of different specialties of the Faculty of history, communications and tourism under the guidance of Valentina Morozova, professor of History of Belarus , archaeology and special historic disciplines department, and Irina Gerasimchik, associate professor of department of journalism, designed a unique project “Music of Centuries”.
The joint work of YKSUG students was evaluated by the members of state examination commission. The defense was also attended by Henadz Hachko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Aleksandr Niechukrin, Dean of the Faculty, staff members of Academic Affairs Department and other guests.
Authors and creators of the projects are students of the “History (World and National History)” specialty: Dmitry Stankevich, Nikita Karankevich, Anna Shulskaya and student of the “Information and Communication” specialty Darya Gavrilchuk. The main idea of the project is to organize tourist trip through Belarus in youth-friendly 2.0 format. That means introduction of remarkable pieces of historical and cultural heritage through cultural education and interactive part. The project is aimed on school students who are to pass exams or tests on history of Belarus, as well, as on freshmen students, who are keen on history of motherland.
Smorgon region is going to be an implementation venue for the project, because a lot of historical memorials are concentrated in the area: Krevo Caslte, St. Michael’s Chursch in Smorgon, museum in manor of Michal Kleofas Oginsky in Zalesye and museum in manor of Francisk Bogushewich in Kushliany. Moreover, those objects belong to different historical periods, but they are linked in one route by the idea of history reception, consistency of development of intellectual and spiritual potential of our ancestors, which in sum allows conducting a tour through space and time.
The students themselves developed touristic route, prepared leaflets and other information materials. Every checkpoint on the route is not an excursion, but also quests, games and fun activities to entertain introduction into history.
Project is interdisciplinary because it involves students of different specialties: Sociology, Tourism and Hospitality, Linguistic Support of Intercultural Communications.
Graduates proposed their project to various touristic companies, including Regional Tourism Center of YKSUG. Dean of the Faculty proposed students to enter Master’s studies and continue work on their project with help of the faculty and university.

The representative of Education Internationalization Centre of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the International Staff Training Week at SGH Warsaw School of Economics
International Staff Training Week united representatives of universities from 15 countries. International Staff Training Week was organized by SGH Warsaw School of Economics in the framework of Erasmus+ programme.
The International Staff Training Week was attended by representatives of Eurasia International University in Armenia, Georgia Institute of Technology, Moldova State University, Queen's University and Concordia University in Canada, Nagasaki University in Japan, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in Ukraine, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Fudan University in China and others. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was represented by Viktoria Kerget, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator, specialist of International Students and Academic Mobility Office of the Center for Internationalization of Education.
Participants of International Staff Training Week had an opportunity to learn more about the education system of Poland and SGH Warsaw School of Economics in particular.
- We got acquainted with the organization of academic mobility with partner universities at SGH, project support, science and research activities, student organizations, for example, such as ESN, the Student Research Association for International Relations, the Club of Partner Organizations, - noted Viktoria Kerget. - We were also told about organization of study process using information and electronic technologies, joint educational programs, summer programs of SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
In addition, a rich cultural program was organized for the participants: staff members from higher education institutions of different countries visited the cultural and historical sites of Poland, visited the library of SGH Warsaw School of Economics - one of the largest collections of economic literature in Poland.
The International Staff Training Week ended with a panel discussion on the possibilities for cooperation between universities with the participation of representatives of the Administration of SGH Warsaw School of Economics – Professor Jacek Prokop, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Ms. Elżbieta Fonberg-Stokluska, M.Sc., Head of the International Centre, Erasmus+ Coordinator at SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
- The participants of International Staff Training Week got an idea about the main aspects of the activities of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the scientific and educational potential of the participating universities,- added Viktoria. - In addition, it was possible to establish contacts with colleagues from various universities for further cooperation in the field of internationalization of education.
