The results of the cycle of creative activities “Youth. Initiative. The future.” of the civil-patriotic marathon" Together for a Strong and Prosperous Belarus" are known.
The cycle included the holding of three contests that took place throughout April at the Yanka Kupala Grodno State University.
It should be noted that the first check for the participants of the civil-patriotic marathon "Together for a strong and prosperous Belarus" in the cycle of creative events was a civil-patriotic project of local lore "Zbyary Belarus svayim sertsy", then the students demonstrated their numerous talents in a free creative contest.
The judicial tribunal took into account the level of artistic and technical quality of the composition, synchronization of participants, flexibility, stretching in the performance of gymnastic and acrobatic elements, black jumping, the complexity of the program and the eccentricity of the creative idea.
Students of the Faculty of Law are recognized as the best in the category "Dance". The second place was taken by the teams of the Faculty of Economics and Management and Technology College of the Yanka Kupala State University.
In the category "Cher" the victory went to the students of the Faculty of Physical Culture. The second place was taken by representatives of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology, the third - schoolchildren of Leninsky district, Grodno.
As a result of the whole cycle, the team of the Faculty of Law is in the lead. In second place - students of the Faculty of Philology, on the third – schoolchildren of Leninsky district, Grodno.
Delegation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of the Yanka Kupala State University is visiting Chongqing Polytechnic University
Elena Livak, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Yanka Kupala State University, and Anna Karkanitsa, Senior Lecturer in the Chair of Advanced Programming Technologies, are discussing the point of joint educational program “GRSU-CQUT SE 2 + 2”.
The representatives of the Yanka Kupala State University met with the dean and employees of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering of the Chinese University, and also they got acquainted with the specifics of the students' training at the faculty.
It should be noted that the Yanka Kupala State University and Chongqing Polytechnic University signed the first agreement on joint training of specialists in the field of information technology in January of this year. The document is focused on strengthening friendly relations between Belarus and China, expanding the sphere of cooperation between universities, as well as preparing specialists in demand for social and economic development of their countries, exchange of faculty and development of research activities. The universities will provide training for bachelors and masters, as well as continue cooperation in the field of academic exchange of students. In addition to this, the agreemnt allows for the recruitment to a joint postgraduate course. If the educational program is successfully mastered, graduates will be able to obtain a diploma of higher education of the country in which the last two years of study have passed.

In the Grodno Regional Scientific Library named after Academician E.F. Karsky, took place another event within the framework of the regional action "We Try Times". This time it was timed to the 500th anniversary of the publication of the first book in Belarusian, published by Francis Skaryna.
The lecturers of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, as well as foreign students of the Ulaanbaatar University, Ikhtiyar Dzhumaniyazov, Nurbibi Maddurdyeva, Aziz Sheraliyev, Farhad Sheraliyev, Vanchen Wei and Gio Danielle Gloria, who study at the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Biology and Ecology and the Faculty of History, Communication and tourism took part in this event.
Together with the lectures, the children read Skaryna's well-known preface to the "Book of Judith" in different languages of the world: Old Belarusian, Bulgarian, Uzbek, Chinese, French, Serbian, Slovenian, Polish, Russian, English, German and Ukrainian.
The action ended with a joint recitation of a poem dedicated to the first Belarusian printer, Francis Skorina.

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has achieved significant progress within the framework of «PICASA» project
«PICASA» project, within three years - from 2013 to 2016 was implemented out under the TEMPUS program, with financial support from the European Union in Armenia, Georgia, Belarus and Ukraine.
PICASA was created to promote recognition of Eastern Neighboring Area higher education systems through the development and integration of internationalization dimensions into structural and cultural components of higher education institutions management.
The project aimed to integrate international dimension into teaching, learning and research functions of universities through developing and implementing respective policies and procedures. Priority functions of «PICASA» project include: the development of skills and knowledge in students, faculty and staff to promote internationalization and development of ethos and culture hat values and supports intercultural and international perspectives, initiatives and their quality assurance.
The main results of the international project include highly trained personnel and the revised the functions of the International Centers of Partner Universities. All this, according to executors of «PICASA» project, will be a basis for the development of internationalization in the university. Also within the framework of the project, in the creation of curricula and educational programs, scientific cooperation, the development of academic mobility of students and staff, the universities adopted their own policies and strategies for internationalizing, developed new approaches to implementation of the international component.
In addition within the framework of the implementation of PICASA program, a model of quality assurance of the internationalization process was proposed and the guidance on this topic was developed. By the way, the guidance includes problems of using benchmarking instruments (the process of identifying, understanding and adapting of existing examples of the effective functioning of the company with the aim of improving its own work - note) and issues related to internationalization of educational and scientific activities.
The PICASA project has enabled Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno to achieve significant successes and to confirm its own status in international educational space. In particular, the main indicators of implementation of the strategy of internationalization and procedures governing the process of sending students to study abroad have been developed in Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno within the framework of the University Development Strategy for 2016-2020.
The international project fostered to creation of Education Internationalization Center in Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The activities of the new structure are aimed at the development of exports of educational services, generating positive public image of the university in the world educational space, the coordinating the activities of the university in internationalization activities and ensuring the implementation of the strategy.
Seminars for heads of departments and university staff responsible for international activities were held In Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Information and consultative events for international activities development of the university within the context of internationalization were held at faculties.
In accordance with the principles of internationalization, academic programs "Information resource management" and "Information Technology Software" were revised. As noted in the project development sector of the Yanka Kupala State University, the revision process helped to intensify the use of international experience and knowledge in teaching separate courses, helped to develop cooperation with faculties of the same specializations in universities of other countries, to develop collaborative student projects, to increase student exchanges and participation in international conferences.
With funding from "PICASA" project the material and technical basis of classrooms has been upgraded, allowing to develop distance education and to include the university to the world scientific space and, thereby, to deepen the process of internationalization.
It is expected that the project will contribute to integration of principles of internationalization of education and science in the relevant documents not only in higher education institutions, but also in the ministries of education and science of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine.
The international day of the theatre was celebrated at the university for the second time. There was held a universitywide festival of pop sketches and theatre performances “Youth Association of Student Theaters of the State University of Grodno” (“M.O.S.T. Grsu”).
All participants presented different styles of theatrical performances and tried to surprise the jury, on committee were representatives of the public association "Belaya Rus", Grodno Regional Drama Theater and Grodno State College of Arts. The commission of experts was headed by Elena Stelmakh, the head of the department of cultural-mass and leisure activities of the ESWD.
The best were students of the Faculty of Economics and Managements. The second place was taken by the participants of universitywide conversation studio “Conferense”. And the third place was shared by theater lovers of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics and the Faculty of Innovative Engineering Technologies.
The winners were named in seven categories.
The leading lady was the participant of the studio "Conferense", the student of the Faculty of history, communication and tourism – Margarita Ruksha, and the best male role - the student of the Faculty of Innovative Technology of Mechanical Engineering – Evgeny Sakovich.
The supporting female role was played by Julia Vasechko, the student of mathematics and computer science Faculty, and the best supporting male role of – the student of the Faculty of innovative technologies of engineering – Evgeny Bozik.
The best script and scenography, according to jury’s opinion, turned out to be the students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, and the best direction – participants of the studio "Conferense".
On the 18-19th of March, 2017 the members of the club of international student initiatives “ESN YKSUG” Nadezhda Kuryan, Andrey Minevich, Dmitriy Shumeiko, Vera Brichova and Julia Gaponik visited the 31st National Platform in Kaunas, Lithuania. The chairman of ESN YKSUG– Alexander Lapatneu, who studies at Mykolas Romeris University now under the programme Erasmus+, also visited this event.
Besides, Ekaterina Gorgun and Veronika Gaydukevich took part in the International meeting of national delegates of ESN Poland in Białystok, Poland.
During the meetings, our students presented Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, the ESN section of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and visited numerous seminars and workshops on effective adaptation and integration of international students. Moreover, the contacts with different ESN sections` representatives were established: The National Board of ESN Lithuania (Darja Kupsaite, Inessa Cvetkova, Karolis Krutka), Exchange Ability Coordinator of ESN Lithuania ( Ignat Plavslij), the National representative of ESN Poland (Igor Pater) and the representatives of ESN Czech Republic, ESN Slovakia. The students set the goals for the future cooperation and collaboration, exchanged the experience.
On the basis of the Dresden University of Technology, The Federal Republic of Germany, the partners' meeting of the project «Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries / LNSS» was held from 1st to 3rd of March, 2017. The project has been implemented under Erasmus+ programme and it is co-financed by European Commission. The delegation from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno included director of scientific library Hrynko Mikalai -the coordinator of the project and the head of the department of international project activity Knor Alena, manager of the project.
During the meeting partners from Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, Ireland, Romania, Germany and Greece analyzed the results of the first year of LNSS project implementation, provided financial reports, discussed training modules developed by the universities and results of pilot trainings for library staff.
Special attention was paid to the planning of National Awareness Day, which would be held within each partner country.
In Belarus this important event will take place on the 19th of May, 2017 in Minsk on the basis of Belarusian State University. The objective of National Awareness Day is promoting of services and enhancing the status of libraries in the society, popularization of reading and knowledge.
Colleagues from Dresden University of Technology organized excursion for consortium partners to Saxon State University Library of Dresden (SLUB), which located on the territory of the university and which is one of the biggest libraries of Germany.

International technical assistance project «Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries / LNSS» is one of the four projects of Erasmus+ programme implemented in Belarus for 2015-2017 years.

The parties are planning to realize joint projects in the field of inclusive education.
These and other fields of further cooperation were discussed by the Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Andrey Korol, and the Rector of Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities, dr. hab. Tamara Zaharuk during the meeting.
Both universities cooperate for about a decade. Every year represents of YKSUG take part in international conferences, scientific seminars and conduct scientific researches in the field of pedagogics and philology jointly with Polish colleagues.
Re-signing of the agreement of cooperation gave start to the new stage of cooperation between the two HEI’s. This document provides cooperation in the field of scientific work, joint research in the field of inclusive education, joint internships, widening of academic exchanges of students, academic and administrative staff. Thus, the guests shared their hope, that YKSUG representatives will take part in annual Congress on inclusive education, which will take place in Siedlce in April. In turn, YKSUG administration proposed students of Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities to join Russian Language Summer School, which enjoys popularity within foreign guests.
Andrey Korol, YKSUG Rector, noted that the agreement grants the possibility to deepen and broaden academic exchanges opportunities of academic staff. The parties are the most interested in applying for Erasmus+ mobilities, as well, as cross-border project on inclusive education.
The first guests to visit the Club were 15 international students
During 5 days in our city guest students from Russia, Spain, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece and Germany lived in the atmosphere of Belarusian youth life.
– Students of “Linguistic Support of Intercultural Communications” from the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism told foreigners about the history of Grodno, organized excursions to the New Castle, got them acquainted with the University, held master-classes on Belarusian and English Languages, puppet crafting, Belarusian cuisine, Chinese gymnastics Qigong, - told Anna Inozemtseva, one of the faculty students. – Our guests attended Shrovetide celebration, together wished farewell to winter, took part in Russian folk dances and competitions, even took part in topical contests.
The culmination of the event was search quests in city center, organized by the students of History of Belarus, Archeology and Special Historical Disciplines department, and back-to-USSR party.
The working meeting of partners within “Library Network Support Services: Modernising of library staff development and reforming libraries / LNSS” project, which is being realized within Erasmus+ programe and co-financed by European Commission took place in Dresden University of Technology.
The delegation of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno consisted of Nikolay Grinko, Director of Scientific Library and Project Coordinator, and Elena Knor, Head of the International Project Management Office.
During the meeting, partners from Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, Ireland, Romania, Germany and Greece analyzed the results of the first year of LNSS project realization, presented financial reports, discussed study modules, designed by universities, and results of pilot trainings on professional qualification of librarians.
– Special attention was paid to the planning of National Library Day, which will be held this year in every partner country. In Belarus, the event will be held on 19th May in Minsk at Belarusian State University. The organization of National Library Day is aimed at promotion of services and status of library in society, popularization or reading and knowledge, – explained Elena Knor.
Besides, within the meeting, colleagues from Dresden University of Technology set an excursion to the Saxon State and University Library (SLUB), which is situated at the university and is one of the largest libraries in Germany.

International technical assistance project “Library Network Support Services: modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries / LNSS” is one of 4 Erasmus+ programe projects, being implemented in Belarus in 2015-2017. Academy of Public Administration of Armenia is the coordinator of the project.
Within the LNSS there are implemented events on librarian retraining and reforming of library systems in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus.

Bright flashmob took place on 24th February at the University Flag Square of YKSUG.
Students formed two sevens, which symbolized the 77th anniversary of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. Students warmheartedly congratulated alma mater with Birthday.
The event continued with concert. Yana Miliuk, Chairman of Student Coordination Board, spoke to YKSUG community.
– Today’s not only our University’s birthday, it is also Birthday for all of the students! – mentioned Yana. – On this solemn day I want to wish YKSUG big family swiftness in crossing obstacles, success, great mood and all the best!
The training lasted one semester within Erasmus+ academic exchanges programe.
Whilst in Warsaw School of Economics, Yuliya Haponik, Faculty of Economics of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, studied disciplines related to world trade and international business.
– The educational system at Polish university differs from one of ours. I’ve been mostly impressed with so called “null session”, during which students pass test exams. If a student manages to pass an exam with excellent mark, he won’t pass this exam again, - told Yuliya. During my exchange I not only managed to improve my English, but also improved conversational German and Polish.
A pleasant surprise for our student was a possibility to visit local “Facebook” building, where she got acquainted with latest developments of the company and traineeship possibilities. Besides, Yuliya visited Warsaw stock exchange, where she learned about trading procedure. A big presentation was conducted also by largest financial conglomerate «Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.».
Besides the study itself, the exchange was full of cultural and educational activities.
– During my stay in Poland I have also visited Krakow, commemorated World War II casualties in Auschwitz and Birkenau, also visited Wroclaw and Prague, – added оur student. –Erasmus+ – is a great experience of professional skill development, as well, as intercultural communication. All of this contributes to the quality training of modern specialists in the field of world economy.

Besides YKSUG guests there were also participants from Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Technological University and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
– The training program included not only getting acquainted with the study process and scientific work of the Engineering Technologies Faculty of the Belgian university. We, as well, attended classes and presentations on solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells, optics, lasers and optical fibers, materials properties and electromagnetic compatibility – told us Vitaly Stiepuro, leading researcher of the R&D department. – Moreover, we were proposed to do laboratory works with optical fibers, bio-diesel synthesis, materials properties study and wind velocity measuring and its impact on dunes.
