Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno continues to actively implement its internationalization strategy, fostering academic and cultural cooperation with institutions in the People's Republic of China. July 10, an online meeting was held with representatives of Lanzhou College of Technology and Business.
The event featured Wang Huadong, the rector of Lanzhou College of Technology and Business; Su Guangping, executive vice-rector for academic affairs; and Ma Yujie, director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges. Yanka Kupala State University was represented by First Vice-Rector Alexander Karevsky; Elena Belokoz, head of the Education Internationalization Center; and Olga Minova, head of the International Cooperation Department.
The meeting included discussions on improving the academic qualifications of teachers and students, such as the admission of graduates from Lanzhou College to the master's program at Yanka Kupala State University without entrance exams. The participants also discussed staff exchanges to implement joint academic and cultural programs.

The competition “Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025” is held annually in Astana for researchers under 35 who have made invaluable contributions to the development of science at both national and international levels. Vera Martynova, a graduate of the Law Faculty of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, has been named the best young scientist in the Commonwealth of Independent States!
The main goal of this project is to identify the best developments by young scientists in the fields of humanities and natural sciences, as well as to promote scientific interests and create a unifying platform for the advancement of science.
She submitted her works, including a scientific study on migration control and a portfolio of scientific achievements for 2023 and 2024, to participate in the prestigious competition back in December 2024. At that time, she was studying in the master's program at Yanka Kupala State University. The selection and review of the submitted works took several months, highlighting the high standards and thoroughness with which the applications were evaluated. The expert jury assessed each work, paying attention to both the originality of the research and its practical significance. The results of the competition became known only in the summer.
By decision of the international expert commission, Vera was declared the winner of the competition and awarded the medal “The Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025”, along with a certificate, diploma, and publication in a peer-reviewed international book edition. This achievement is not only an important milestone in Vera's scientific career but also opens new horizons for further professional growth and development in the field of law.
A letter of gratitude “For Supporting Active Youth in the International Project Among Scientific and Educational Institutions of the CIS” was awarded to the scientific supervisor of the laureate – Rimma Klyuchko, head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensics, candidate of legal sciences, and associate professor at Yanka Kupala State University.
It should be noted that Vera has been conducting extensive research activities for over seven years and plans to continue on an even larger scale. Her desire for scientific discoveries and in-depth analysis of current issues demonstrates her high level of professionalism and commitment to her chosen field. Her victory in the “Best Young Scientist of the CIS” competition highlights her significant contribution to the scientific community.

Throughout this challenging and fruitful journey, I was supported by Rimma Nikolaevna Klyuchko – my scientific supervisor. I am overwhelmed with indescribable emotions of happiness and gratitude towards my supervisor for her hard work, support, and belief in me. I still can't believe that my dream has come true; I became the winner of the “Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025” competition”. Vera shared her emotions.

Vacation Master's Programs for Chinese Students are available at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
71 master's student from China is studying in the field of “Educational Management”. Classes for the master's students are held during the summer period as part of the academic break.
The training program consists of intensive study blocks and is designed to organize the learning process, where information and skills are acquired through short, focused sessions. This approach is effective for rapid material mastery and skill reinforcement, especially in areas that require precise information retention and quick responses.
Each block covers a specific discipline or topic, allowing students to focus on particular skills. The program is conducted in English over a condensed period: classes are held with a high academic workload for several weeks. Currently, the master's students are studying “Management Psychology”. This course is taught by Snezhana Semernik, a professor in the Philosophy Department.
“We constantly apply theoretical knowledge in practical sessions. We always use interactive methods and training. This way, students not only reinforce their knowledge and improve their skills but also build friendly relationships within the group and become more open,” Snezhana Semernik said.
This format of education for foreign students has been available at the Faculty of Education since 2020.

On July 7, an online meeting was held between representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and colleagues from Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law. The event was dedicated to discussing promising cooperation in the field of education and science. This event was an important milestone in strengthening international relations and opening up new opportunities for students and teachers from both sides.
Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law was represented by Elizaveta Tarasova, First Vice-Rector for Research in charge of the International Department, Professor Natalia Kalavi, a leading specialist at the Center for International Cooperation, and Alina Dobrunova, a leading specialist at the Center for International Cooperation.
Aleksandr Karevskiy, First Vice-Rector of YKSUG, welcomed the representatives of Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law and introduced the participants of the online meeting. Among them are Elena Belokoz, Head of the Center for Internationalization of Education, and Olga Minova, Head of the International Cooperation Department.
Aleksandr Karevskiy invited the Russian side to get acquainted with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno through a special video that vividly illustrated the life of the university, namely student events, achievements of teachers and students, as well as infrastructure, including modern laboratories and academic buildings. Thanks to this, representatives of the Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law gained a deeper understanding of the university's capabilities and resources, as well as got acquainted with its achievements in the field of education and research.
During the meeting, key issues related to future cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law were discussed. One of the central points was the discussion of the possibility of implementing educational programs, which will allow students from both sides not only to exchange knowledge, but also to gain experience in different educational systems. One of the topics that aroused particular interest was the priority areas and specialties offered by each of the universities. The participants discussed how courses and programs can be integrated to provide students with access to a wide range of knowledge and skills needed in modern labor market conditions. This cooperation can include both traditional academic disciplines and innovative programs focused on current trends in economics and law. Academic exchanges, both face-to-face and online, have also become an important aspect of the discussion. The participants talked about the possibilities of creating programs that will allow students to study courses in different countries, which will significantly expand their horizons and improve intercultural communication. In addition, the topic of organizing joint conferences, seminars and summer schools was raised. The participants discussed which topics would be most relevant for joint events, including issues of sustainable development, innovative technologies in education, and legal aspects of economic cooperation. This will allow not only to share knowledge, but also to create a platform for scientific communication and collaboration.
Attention was also paid to the possibility of students' participation in events held within the framework of the UNESCO Associated Schools. This will provide an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in international educational standards and expand their knowledge of global issues. The topic of conducting scientific research in various fields occupied an important place in the discussion. The participants noted that joint research can become the basis for the creation of new scientific publications and projects, which in turn will improve the scientific image of both universities.
Finally, special attention was paid to the training of highly qualified scientific personnel. The participants discussed the need to create postgraduate and doctoral programs that will take into account modern requirements and challenges facing the scientific community. The International Summer Law School on Anti-Corruption Policy has started at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
From June 23 to 27, the International Summer Law School "Anti-Corruption Policy: Modern Legal Regulation and Implementation Mechanism" is being held at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The educational project is organized by the Higher School of Economics, Management, and Law of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov in collaboration with the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminalistics at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

The scientific director of the school, Nadezhda Chertova, introduced the participants to the program. She emphasized that the school provides a unique opportunity for students and professionals to share their experiences and knowledge, which is particularly relevant in the face of global challenges related to corruption.
After the official opening, an interactive bibliokviz called "Neither Give nor Take" was held. Participants actively responded to questions based on literary works and films, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding corruption and its impact on society. This format of interaction encourages critical thinking while discussing complex topics in a relaxed environment.
In the afternoon, the participants attended introductory lectures on project work. They learned about various methods, such as mock trials and business games, which help them apply their theoretical knowledge in practice. These activities not only enhance teamwork skills but also prepare students for real-world legal challenges.
The school's activities focus on a comprehensive comparative study of Russian and Belarusian anti-corruption practices. This study encompasses both legal aspects and practical measures to effectively combat corruption. Lectures and seminars conducted by experienced professionals will provide participants with the opportunity to not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also learn about successful practices that can be applied in their future professional activities.
The International Summer Law School will serve as a platform for in-depth study of anti-corruption policies and the creation of a network of professional contacts, which will undoubtedly contribute to the development of legal awareness and a responsible approach to corruption among young people.

The forum "Youth of Russia and Belarus – Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State" is taking place from June 25 to 27 in Nizhny Novgorod. Over 700 people will participate in the plenary session.
On June 26, the Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Irina Kiturko, met with the Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod State Engineering and Economic University, Anatoly Shamin, and Vasily Kozlov the Director of the Branch of the Nizhny Novgorod State Engineering and Economic University, the Institute of Food Technologies and Design.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the prospects for cooperation between the universities, focusing on joint research projects and student exchange.

At the XII Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, "Young People of Belarus and Russia – Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State," Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Irina Kiturko, signed important agreements on international cooperation with three leading universities.
The first agreement was signed with the Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod named after N.A. Dobrolyubov. The agreement was signed by Irina Kiturko, Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, and Nikita Avralev, Current Rector of the Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod named after N.A. The conversation with the Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Tambov State University named after G.R.Derzhavin, was also held. During the discussion, key areas of cooperation were discussed, including the exchange of students and teachers, joint research and projects, and much more.
The negotiations resulted in the signing of a Roadmap for cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Tambov State University named after G.R.Derzhavin. This roadmap includes specific steps for implementing joint initiatives, such as holding conferences, seminars, and cultural events, which will facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge.
The Faculty of History, Communication, and Tourism hosted the defense of master's theses by Chinese students specializing in Journalism (Media Management) with English as the language of education
Students from the People's Republic of China studying in the field of Journalism (Media Management) successfully defended their dissertations. The students arrived at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in the autumn of 2025 and completed the program of the specialty during the academic year, preparing master's studies under the guidance of experienced professors of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism.
Many of the Chinese students had already gained experience working in the media, press services, and corporate communications departments in their home country, which influenced the choice of topics for their master's theses. According to the members of the state examination committee, which included Yuri Karnelovich, the Head of the Grodno TV and Radio Company, and Zoya Telesh, Chief Specialist of the Department of Media Relations, Religious Affairs, and Nationalities at the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, the topics of the theses were highly practical and focused on addressing current issues. The master's students' research focused on the role of the media in shaping the historical memory of Chinese youth, the development strategies of Chinese media corporations, the influence of social media on the formation of media images of young people in China and Belarus, the representation of traditional culture in Chinese travel blogs, and others.
According to Inna Minchuk, Head of the Department of Journalism, during the academic year, the department not only organized high-quality teaching of English-language disciplines, but also conducted a number of excursions for students to Belarusian media outlets, introducing them to the historical landmarks of the city and the country. In May, a trip to the Nesvizh and Mir Castles was organized, allowing foreign students to gain a deeper understanding of Belarusian history.

For the 5th time, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was awarded the «Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for Achievements in Quality»
This decision was made by the Commission for Awarding the Government of the Republic of Belarus Prize for Quality Achievements for 2024.
The competition for the Government of the Republic of Belarus Quality Award has been held annually since 1999 and is the most prestigious project in the national quality competition movement. It recognizes the leadership of Belarusian organizations that have developed their strategies and tactics based on quality, and ensures that their achievements are recognized at the national level. The participants of the competition take into account the modern principles and ideas embodied in the Government Quality Award model, demonstrating their mastery of effective management techniques, high performance, and sustainable development.
As a reminder, the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was awarded the Government of the Republic of Belarus the Prize for Quality Achievements for the first time in 2010, and then in 2015, 2018, and 2021, it confirmed its status as a laureate of this competition.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno - the winner of the online Telegram channel contest “Telegram Time”
On May 26 the results of the online contest of Telegram channels of educational institutions "Telegram Time", organised by Minsk City Institute for Education Development, were summed up. The aim of the contest was to improve the quality of information support of current events in the educational space. 105 participants from different parts of Belarus, including Vitebsk, Grodno, Minsk, Mozyr, Dzerzhinsk, Danilovichi and other cities and towns, fought for the victory.
