Activities of partners of the environmental initiative "URA Grodno!" expanding the boundaries of the project "Civic engagement in environmental monitoring and improving environmental management at the local level", funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.

From September 18 to September 26, 2020, the annual  #ЗнайСвоиЦели (#KnowYourGoals) campaign is being held again and dedicated to the anniversary of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year's campaign is part of the Global Week of Action for Sustainable Development, the topic of which is A Turning Point #TurnItAround.

In addition, the partners of the environmental initiative "URA Grodno!" joined the mass movement of local authorities, united by a voluntary commitment to develop their territories on the basis of sustainable energy principles - the Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy.

For reference: As part of this European Union initiative, local authorities (of the city and regions) make voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by 2030 on their territory. The main goal of the initiative is sustainable energy development at the local level and the adoption of measures for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. More than 7 thousand cities and regions in different countries have signed the Agreement.

Volunteers of the environmental initiative "URA Grodno!" joined the organization of the Days of Sustainable Energy: an exhibition of creative works of the city public ecological forum participants was organized.

The “School of zealous owners” (a partner of the initiative “URA Grodno!” from Secondary School of Grodno №12) prepared and conducted an informational program in a playful form “Think globally. Act locally”. Workshops of the Days of Sustainable Energy were organized for students of Secondary School of Grodno No. 12 and their parents.

At the state educational institution Nursery-Kindergarten of Grodno No. 45 " (partner of the environmental initiative), another class was held at the School of Economic and Environmental Culture (S.E.E.C) "We are changing our habits for environmental". The pupils recalled the rules of economy and conservation of natural resources to their guests - the characters who came to the holiday. All together discussed the main causes of global warming and the impact of the greenhouse effect on climate change on Earth. As a result, it turned out to discuss the rules of an environmentally friendly lifestyle: keeping clean nature, sorting waste, using bicycles instead of cars, reducing the use of chemicals when growing vegetables and fruits, saving energy, water and heat.
