Yanka Kupala State University is a large international family that values and respects the culture of different nations. And it has long been a good tradition to celebrate Chinese New Year. Everyone could join the celebration. We tell you what interesting things the organizers have prepared.

The start of the celebration was given by the grand opening of the event. The guests were addressed by Alexander Karevskiy, First Vice-rector of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, who conveyed warm wishes from Rector Irina Kiturko and presented thanks to Daniil Kulikovskikh, a representative of the Yaotian Educational Center.

According to Liavontsi Paulau, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, initially the Chinese New Year was celebrated within the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, but now the celebration has acquired a university scale. This was facilitated by the desire of the students, as well as the opening of the Chinese-Belarusian Center for the implementation of the “Ban Mo (Ruben.Mozi) college” in the direction of “Preschool education”. This event was an important step in strengthening ties between Belarus and China in the field of education.

After the official opening of the festive events, master classes were held, which became guides to the world of oriental culture. The participants were able to touch the Chinese traditions and feel the subtle and elegant art of China. The guests of the festival received lessons in playing traditional Chinese instruments and experienced the motifs of great China.

No less interesting was the master class dedicated to paper cutting. In Chinese culture, this is a separate trend called jianzhi. This type of decorative and applied art is classified by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. The works are very different in complexity, the most skillful ones resemble lace. The guests were very happy to try their hand at this painstaking task.

An important part of Chinese culture is the tea ceremony, which has a history of several thousand years. A master class was also dedicated to her, which was conducted by representatives of the Yaotian Educational Center.

In addition, an exhibition of works by contest participants dedicated to the celebration of the Chinese New Year was organized in the lobby of the second floor. Here, the guests were able to see creative and original works reflecting the spirit of the holiday and the inspiration of the students.

The festive day ended with a bright concert prepared by Chinese students. The event became a bright chord of this eventful day. And this holiday took place thanks to the Center for Internationalization of Education, the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism and the Humanitarian College of the Yanka Kupala State University.
