The Faculty of History, Communication, and Tourism hosted the defense of master's theses by Chinese students specializing in Journalism (Media Management) with English as the language of education

Students from the People's Republic of China studying in the field of Journalism (Media Management) successfully defended their dissertations. The students arrived at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in the autumn of 2025 and completed the program of the specialty during the academic year, preparing master's studies under the guidance of experienced professors of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism.

Many of the Chinese students had already gained experience working in the media, press services, and corporate communications departments in their home country, which influenced the choice of topics for their master's theses. According to the members of the state examination committee, which included Yuri Karnelovich, the Head of the Grodno TV and Radio Company, and      Zoya Telesh, Chief Specialist of the Department of Media Relations, Religious Affairs, and Nationalities at the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, the topics of the theses were highly practical and focused on addressing current issues. The master's students' research focused on the role of the media in shaping the historical memory of Chinese youth, the development strategies of Chinese media corporations, the influence of social media on the formation of media images of young people in China and Belarus, the representation of traditional culture in Chinese travel blogs, and others.

According to Inna Minchuk, Head of the Department of Journalism, during the academic year, the department not only organized high-quality teaching of English-language disciplines, but also conducted a number of excursions for students to Belarusian media outlets, introducing them to the historical landmarks of the city and the country. In May, a trip to the Nesvizh and Mir Castles was organized, allowing foreign students to gain a deeper understanding of Belarusian history.

The first graduation of Chinese students who received their master's degree in Journalism (Media Management) with English as their language of educatuon at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno will take place on Friday, June 27.
