New horizons of cooperation: meeting with representatives of Gansu Province held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

On June 10, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno welcomed a delegation from Gansu Province, China: representatives of the UNESCO Association of Gansu Province and Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation. The meeting was held to discuss new areas of cooperation.

 

The UNESCO Association of Gansu Province was represented by its Chairman, Du Yongjun. The delegation of Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation included: Nan Zhanjun, Rector of the College; Yang Hai, Head of the International Relations and Cooperation Department; Li Hai, Dean of the Automotive Faculty; and Guo Kaiming, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management.

 

YKSUG side was represented by: Aleksandr Karevskiy, First Vice-Rector; Liavontsi Paulau, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Dzmitry Linnik, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Viktar Varapaev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Tatsiana Bulay, Acting Head of the Educational and Methodological Department; Alena Belakoz, Head of the Education Internationalization Centre; Volha Minava, Head of the International Cooperation Office; Alesia Belko, Head of the International Projects and Academic Mobility Office; and Wang Tao, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Translation and Intercultural Communication.

 

After an exchange of greetings, Liavontsi Paulau presented a presentation to the Chinese colleagues on the cooperation between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and the UNESCO Association of Gansu Province. The parties then proceeded to discuss collaboration. Participants raised issues concerning the exchange of staff for internships and lecturing, as well as the participation of university staff in scientific and educational events of partner universities. Special attention during the discussion was paid to joint work on the establishment of a "Peili Workshop" at YKSUG. The meeting participants discussed the experience of the Chinese side in creating the "Peili Workshop," principles of work organization, and joint actions.

 

The outcome of the meeting was the signing of an International Cooperation Agreement between Kupala University and Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation.

 

After the official part, the Chinese guests were given a tour of the university and the Faculty of Engineering. For June 11, a tour of Grodno is planned for them.

 

For reference: Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation is a provincial-level continuing education base for vocational and technical personnel. Its structure includes 10 secondary colleges offering training in 35 specializations in areas such as automotive engineering, intelligent connected new energy vehicles, modern logistics, urban rail transit, aviation services, and intelligent transportation systems.

 

The college promotes extensive interaction between educational institutions and enterprises, as well as deep integration of industry and education. In 2023, the first SAIC Volkswagen training base was officially established on the institution's premises. To date, the college has signed cooperation agreements with 40 companies and has established long-term partnerships in student internships and employment with more than 130 organizations.

 

Furthermore, the college actively develops international ties. Cooperation agreements have been signed with 8 institutions from 6 countries, including New Zealand and Spain. In 2024, Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation established the "Peili International Education and Training Base" in collaboration with Gwadar Technical College in Pakistan. In 2025, an agreement was signed with the All-Nepal Research Center for International Vocational Education "Learning with Results."

 

Cooperation with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno began with a visit by Liavontsi Paulau, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. The meeting took place on April 15 as part of a working visit by a delegation of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee to Lanzhou. During these negotiations, a partner for joint work on establishing the "Peili Workshop" was identified.

 

Interaction continued on May 8 with an online meeting between representatives of YKSUG and representatives of the UNESCO Association of Gansu Province and Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Transportation. The parties discussed current issues, details of establishing the "Peili Workshop" at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, and the agenda of the upcoming in-person meeting.
