Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and American International Campus Private Limited in Sri Lanka will begin joint training of specialists in postgraduate programs
The parties signed the corresponding agreement for a period of five years on October 9.
The agreement provides training for specialists in postgraduate programs at the Yanka Kupala Grodno State University on the basis of the AIC Campus in Colombo. At the end of the graduate school, each specialist will receive a diploma of a researcher of the Republic of Belarus and an opportunity to submit a thesis for defense.
It should be noted that the cooperation of the two institutions of higher education began in 2017. At the end of January, the universities signed an agreement on the training of students for the program of the YKSUG in the territory of Sri Lanka at American International Campus Private Limited. Within the framework of this agreement, in the last academic year, ten students of preparatory courses were trained at the AIC, who were examined in September by the dean of the Faculty of Pre-university Training Yury Ramanousky and Head of the Department of Technologies of Pre-University Education Iryna Karliukova. At the same time, the prospects of training specialists in postgraduate programs at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno were discussed. The result of this was the current agreement.
It is planned that in the near future representatives of two universities will sign an agreement on training specialists at the first stage of higher education in the specialties "Preschool education" and "Psychology".
Representatives of the Chinese province of Gansu will study Russian at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
For the first time the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno organizes the School of Russian language for the citizens of the PRC. The employees of the Government, the Corporation for the Development of Highways, Aviation and Tourism, the Department of Health and the Commerce Department of Gansu Province to learn the language for two weeks - from October 13 to 27.
Grodno oblast and Gansu province have a long history of cooperation, which is established in a wide range of sectors: economy, industry, tourism. Active interaction of the regions over the past few years has led to the need for training cadres for the Russian language for more effective cooperation. In September of this year, during the visit to Grodno of a delegation from Gansu province, an agreement was signed to support the organization of training between the Office of External Relations under the Government of the Gansu Province of China and the Economy Committee of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.
The program of the School includes daily 6-hour interactive classes in the Russian language, many of them will be conducted in the form of business games, with the use of case studies and modern teaching methods. In their free time the participants of the School will visit enterprises of the Grodno region and get acquainted with the economy and culture of the oblast.
It is worth noting that the Yanka Kupala State University has more than 20 years of experience in teaching foreigners to the Russian language. In addition, since 2015 the University has successfully implemented the projects "Summer and Winter Russian Language School", the number of participants and geography of which is growing every year.

The Gansu Province is located in the north-western part of the People's Republic of China. Its administrative center and the largest city is Lanzhou, whose population is more than 25.5 million people.
For centuries, Gansu was a vital corridor between China and Central Asia: through it passed a nearly 1600-kilometer stretch of the Great Silk Road. The first lesson in the Russian language for representatives of the Chinese province of Gansu was held at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Representatives of the Chinese province of Gansu will study Russian at the YKSUG during two weeks.
The program includes daily 6-hour interactive classes in the Russian language, many of which will take the form of business games, with the use of case studies and modern teaching methods. The classes will be conducted by the Associate Professor of the Department of Language Training of Belarusian and Foreign Citizens, PhD (Philology) Natallia Muzychenka.
The training project organized by the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee in conjunction with the Yanka Kupala State University and the Office of External Relations of the Gansu Provincial Government is primarily aimed at developing business relations between the Grodno oblast and the Ganshu province.
– I came to Grodno for the second time, – said the employee of the Department of Commerce of Gansu Province Zhang Yaouha. – At the first visit, unfortunately, we did not manage to get acquainted with the city, but this time we were able to walk along Grodno and see the main sights. The project is a good chance for the province of Ganshu and Grodno oblast to establish trade and economic cooperation, as well as to exchange talented specialists, to find new partners.
The project involves not only teaching the Russian language, but also acquaintance of guests with the economy of the Grodno region, including a visit to the Free Economic Zone "Grodnoinvest", as well as enterprises of the Grodno region.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is admitted to the Compostela Group of Universities
This became known during the XXIII General Assembly of the Compostela Group of Universities, which was held at the University of Pecs in Hungary in September this year.

The forum was held at the University of Pécs in Hungary and gathered dozens of participants from Europe and continental America. Belarus and the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno were represented by Sviatlana Hanchar, head of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology.
Within the framework of the conference dedicated to traditions and innovations, the role and social responsibility of universities in the modern world, Sviatlana Hanchar spoke in the debate on the reports of the director of the Association for Academic Cooperation Bernard Vechter and the director of the Center for International Relations of the Ministry of Education of Hungary Istvan Tarrosi. Also, the representative of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in the round table "Generation Z, the search for new scientific approaches in teaching".
- In the process of informal communication, contacts were exchanged with potential partner universities from Hungary, Belgium, Mexico, Brazil and Peru, - said Sviatlana Hanchar. - This is necessary for the expansion of academic cooperation within the new network, as well as the presentation of the educational and scientific potential of the bathing university with the aim of promoting the interests of the university abroad.

The rector of Bialystok Technical University, Professor Lech Dzenis, visited Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for the first time and met with the university's authorities
During the meeting, which was attended by the Senior VIce-rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Iryna Kiturka, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Yury Bialykh, Vice-rector for Scientific Affairs Uladzimir Barsukou, the parties discussed further prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation.
As emphasized by Irina Kiturko, Grodno University is ready to expand bilateral relations, which will allow the cooperation of the two universities to reach a completely new level. This is facilitated by the introduction of a visa-free regime, which provides new opportunities for expanding and strengthening contacts between employees.
- This year a scientific and technological park was created in YKSUG, cooperation within the framework of which can become another direction for joint activity, - said Iryna Kiturka.

The agreement on training of listeners Дof YKSUG preparatory courses in Democratic Social Republic of Sri Lanka in American International Campus (AIC) have been concluded in January, 2017. Within this agreement 10 listeners of the preparatory courses finished their study.
Yury Ramanousky and Iryna Karliukova took exams in Physics and Mathematics for the listeners of the preparatory courses in AIC in Colombo on 12th and 13th September. As a result of the examinations, successful listeners have obtained certificates of completion of preparatory courses of YKSUG. Two listeners are going to continue their study in YKSUG in “Tourism and hospitality” specialty this year.
During the visit parties also discussed joint training of students of the 1st degree of higher education, and perspective training of Sri Lanka citizens in YKSUG post-graduate programmes.
It is planned, that listeners of preparatory courses in Sri Lanka in 2017-2018 will have interim evaluation in YKSUG online and have regular exams in summer with the representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Shandong University of Railways
Study programme “2+2” between Shandong University of Railways (Jinan, PRC) and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is to be realized for the first time in 2017-2018 academic year.
Two citizens of the People’s Republic of China have already been admitted to the Yanka Kupala Stet University of Grodno. На обучение в купаловский университет приняты две гражданки Китайской Народной Республики. Tao Zhan had been studying in Shandong University of Railways for two years, and then came to Grodno within “2+2” programme. She was admitted to the 3rd year of the Faculty of Philology, specialty “Russian Philology (business communication)”; in two years she graduates YKSUG. As a result of her study, she’ll obtain the diplomas of both universities. The realization of “2+2” programme became possible after the agreement on universities’ study plans.
Within the agreement between the two universities, Yan Hayrong had been enrolled to the Preparatory Department for the Foreign Citizens. She will stay for training at YKSUG and study Russian language during the year. This agreement also includes academic exchange of lecturers, staff members, students and cooperation in the field of science.

The conversation with guests from Riga (Latvia) were dedicated to the development and widening international academic cooperation.
Besides the faculty authorities, representatives of “Tekhnolab”, Center for Technology Transfer and Sector of International Project Activities of YKSUG participated in the meeting.
The representatives of YKSUG with their Latvian colleagues discussed the opportunities and perspectives of cooperation in form of joint participation in international projects, revitalization of academic mobility of students and staff between both institutions.
Agreement on cooperation with «RISEBA» has been signed in August, 2017. As it is today, both parties have agreed on the programme, according to which students and teachers of the Faculty of Economics and Management get opportunities to implement trainings abroad and participate in international conferences and projects.
Experience of the Latvian colleagues of YKSUG is of great interest for YKSUG.

Students and lecturers of YKSUG organized the flashmob “Congratulating libraries of Grodno”
International students and the lecturers of the Russian as a foreign language department, participants of the “Commonwealth” programme, visited libraries of Grodno within the Library Day on September, 15th.
First of all, warm words of congratulations from flashmob participants were addressed to the staff of the scientific library of the Yanka Kupala State University. In response, library director Nikolai Grinko thanked for congratulations and, addressing foreign students, stressed that the doors of the book treasury are always open for them, and the employees are ready to provide the necessary assistance.
Then the participants of flashmob congratulated the employees of the department of publications in foreign languages and the youth department of the Grodno Regional Scientific Library named after E.F. Karsky. The next point of the route of congratulations was the department of art of the Grodno Oblast Scientific Library named after EF. Karsky. Polish-Belarusian Academy of Law ended at YKSUG
1st Polish-Belarusian Academy of Law took place from 11th till 16th September in University of Bialystok and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Papers on constitutional, administrative, civil and criminal law were presented to students in Polish and Belarusian languages, which allowed not only discovering legal system of both countries, but also enjoying language practice.
«The idea of the Academy was given by the life itself, - said Jaroslaw Matwejuk, University of Bialystok Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with Eastern Europe Universities. – Belarus and Poland cooperate within business and tourism, that’s why law students must know basics of their countries’ legislation».
Yaroslaw Matweyuk also mentioned that a lot of students in University of Bialystok would like to participate in such an event, and those who had participated were very glad to discover Belarusian law.
It is planned that the Academy starts again in a year. The first venue will be YKSUG, then the activities continues in University of Bialystok.
Charity fair “Hospitable Belarus” took place at the Faculty of Law
17 teams of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years cooked national meals, decorated exhibits and rehearsed creative performances.
The funds collected during the fair are to be transferred to the Vasilishki Orphanage’s foster-children, which has been a partner of the Faculty of Law since 2012.
The jury, headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Sviatlana Chaburanava, also included the guests of the faculty – Jaroslaw Matwejuk, University of Bialustok Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with Eastern Europe Universities, and Piotr Bialas, senior employee of the International Department of University of Bialystok. YKSUG was represented in jury by Vialeta Kurouskaya, leading specialist of the Cultural and Leisure Activities, Volha Piashkun, Chair of the Trade Union Bureau of the Faculty of Law, Pavel Sialiavin, Chair of the student self-government of the Faculty of Law, and Natalya Filon, secretary of BSYU section.
The jury assessed participants by 4 criteria: table making, meals, costumes and announcers’ contest.
The winners were students of the group 173 of the 2nd year of the specialty “Jurisprudence”. Second place was for the group 171 of the 1st year of the specialty “Customs Affairs”, and the last winning place was for the group 64 of the 2nd year of the specialty “Jurisprudence”.

On 7th September, within the “Fellowship” project implementation, international students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno together with the lecturers of the Department of the Russian as a foreign language participated in oblast event “Reciting classics together”.
The event took place in J.F. Karsky Grodno Oblast Scientific Library. Students and lecturers of YKSUG recited poems of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas in Belarusian, French, Arabic, Turkmen and English.
Favorite verses of classical literary heritage were also recited by honorary guests: Deputy Head of Lenin District Administration of Grodno Aliaksandr Koush, Head of the Logistics and Sales Department of “Molochny Mir” JSC Piotr Pagranousky, Deputy Head of Grodno Oblast Trade Union Organization of JSC Savings Bank Belarusbank Chaslava Muliarchyk.
