Kupala students became prize-winners of the international volleyball tournament dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Higher School of Physical Culture and Sports of the I. Kant BFU
The tournament was held from March 27 to March 29 at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. Our team took the third place. Ulyana Abramovich, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Physical Culture of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, was recognized as the best player of the tournament. Congratulations to our athletes on a successful performance!
By the way, Kupala University has a long-term successful history of cooperation with the Immanuel Kant BFU in the scientific, educational, cultural, and sports spheres. For example, the team of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University has been participating in the International Volleyball Tournament among women's teams for the Yanka Kupala Rector's Cup since 2016.

Dear colleagues, We invite you to participate in II International seminar “Quality of higher education in Belarus with the stakeholders eyes” organized on the basis of Belarusian State Economic University in the framework of the international technical assistance project “Fostering Competencies Development in Belarusian Higher Education (FOSTERC)” of ERASMUS+ programme. Seminar objectives: 1. To examine various views of the role of higher education in preparing graduates for works in Belarus. 2. To discuss the teaching and learning approaches in Belarusian universities. 3. To disseminate the relevance in the use of innovative approaches in teaching and learning for the Belarusian Higher Education System. 4. To foster relationships and lines of communication with external stakeholders. This seminar is a joint event of the FOSTERC project and the Baltic Sea Region Universities Network (BSRUN). It aims at discussing best practices of cooperation of Belarusian universities with the Network participants, as well as the results of surveying graduates, teachers of Belarusian universities and employers of the republic. Analyzing the opinions of the given stakeholders in higher professional education will make it possible to identify bottlenecks in training graduates in the

On the 15th-16th of February, 2018 at Yerevan State University in the Academic Council Hall the seminar “Change in Classroom: Promoting Innovative Teaching and Learning to Enhance Student Learning Experience in Eastern Partnership Countries” was held.
Two participants Elena Opekun and Svetlana Gonchar represented Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
The main goals of the seminar were the promotion of development and innovation in teaching and learning , as well as the introduction of new technologies in the teaching process in Armenia, Georgia and Belarus and modernizing higher education in the partner countries which were discussed by the representatives of European Union and Eastern partner country universities: Yerevan State University (YSU), National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA), Vanadzor State University after H. Tumanyan (VSU) and National Center for Strategic Research in HE (NCSRHE), Ilia State University (ISU), Georgian Technical University (GTU) and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University (TeSaU), Belarusian State University (BSU), Brest State Technical University (BrSTU) and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (YKSUG), Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Universidade do Porto (U. Porto), Linkopings Universitet (LiU), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) and FH Joanneum Gesellschaft mbH (FHJ).
The first day of the seminar was dedicated to the presentations on the overall educational structures of EU and partner country institutions. The participants emphasized the role of innovative teaching & learning methods, current teacher training programmes as well as the challenges they face in their institutions.
The conference was attended by RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Vahram Mkrtchyan, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alexander Grigoryan, Head of Erasmus + Armenia Office Lana Karlova, representatives of universities and experts.
YKSUG holds Russian Language Winter School for the 3rd time
8 visitors froma abroad are going to be improving the knowledge of the Russian Language since February 4 till February 17.
For the new knowledge and practice of the language, students from the Institute of Russian Studies of Gdansk University will come to Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno with whom long-standing contractual relations have been established at the Department of Language training of Belarusian and foreign citizens of the Faculty of pre-university training. Among the participants is a student from Germany and a graduate student from Italy who took part in the Summer School of the Russian Language in 2015. The second time, a student from Poland, who was also a participant of the Summer School of 2015, will come as a volunteer.
Foreign guests will attend lectures on the history and culture of Belarus, classes "Karaoke in Russian", culinary classes "Belarusian cuisine", excursions in Grodno with a visit to one of the enterprises of the city, a trip to the capital of Belarus, master classes and film schools. In addition, daily foreigners will be able to practice Russian with students of Grodno University.
Upon completion of the project, foreign students will receive a certificate of the participant of the Winter School of the Russian Language at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Let it be reminded that for the first time the Russian Language Winter School was held in 2016. The project is a continuation of the Russian Language Summer School, which was first organized in 2015. Currently, the Summer and Winter Schools are successfully operating at the Kupala University and annually gather dozens of foreigners wishing to learn Russian and get acquainted with the unique culture, traditions, nature and architecture of Belarus. The initiator and organizer of the project is the Department of Language training of Belarusian and foreign citizens of the Faculty of pre-university training.

1. Grading system
In Belarus grades from 1 up to 10 are used, with 1 being worst and 10 being best. Grades of 1-3 are considered to be failing grades and are rarely seen on transcriptions, 4-5 satisfactory, 6-8 good, 9-10 excellent. The grade of Pass (Залiк) is a passing grade for courses that last longer than 1 semester, elective courses, laboratory and practical courses. It is listed on transcripts to indicate that the course requirements were met, but have not been validated by a final examination.
