MARATHON DIARY: Yanka Kupala State University hosts a civil-patriotic marathon “Together for a strong and prosperous Belarus!”

Grand opening of the civil-patriotic marathon “Together for a strong and prosperous Belarus!” was held on November 12, 2019.

Deans, students and teachers of all faculties of the Yanka Kupala State University, as well as representatives of the Humanities and Technological colleges of the Yanka Kupala State University, schools of the Leninsky and Oktyabrsky district of Grodno gathered at Kupala University to launch the Civil-Patriotic marathon “Together for a strong and prosperous Belarus!”.

In 2020, the civil-patriotic marathon “Together-for a strong and prosperous Belarus!” gathered 18 teams at the Yanka Kupala State University. These are арт. teams of University faculties, teams of Humanities and Technological colleges of Yanka Kupala State University, combined teams of general secondary education institutions of Leninsky district of Grodno and Oktyabrsky district of Grodno.

For several months now (in accordance with the competition schedule), contestants have been participating in events of 5 cycles: the cycle of creative events “Youth. Initiative. Future”, a series of intellectual events “We are the heirs of Victory”, a series of military-sports events “Ready to defend the Fatherland”, a series of events to develop a responsible attitude to the family “Together in defense of life, morality and family values” and a series of sports events “Dad, mom and I are a sports family”.

The contest “History and Culture of Belarus” was held on February 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2020.

Teams of faculties, colleges and schools (5 boys and 5 girls in the team), under the terms of the competition, were computer tested for knowledge of the history and culture of Belarus.

The teams presented posters dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory to the poster contest “For the Glory of the Great Victory”.

Series of creative events “Youth. Initiative. Future”

Civil-patriotic historical project “Gather Belarus in your heart” was held under the theme of “Singers of Motherland”. Participants had to submit a video, photo presentation, essay and poem to the competition jury. All the works were dedicated to cultural figures of Belarus.

The cheerleading competition was held on February 27, 2020.

Students, college students and school students competed in two categories: dance category “Dance” and sports category “Cheer”. Participants were given 3 minutes to perform. During this time, the participants were to fully present an original spectacular performance with elements of acrobatics and gymnastics.

A series of events to develop a responsible attitude to the family “Together in defense of life, morals and family values”

The competition “Host and Hostess” consisted of two parts: a cooking competition “Hot bread” for girls and a competition for making decorative wooden products for boys.

The first to complete the tasks of the contest “Host and Hostess” were young men who made birdhouses at the Technological College of Kupala University on February 28, 2020. Participants were given 4 hours to build birdhouses. Before starting work, the participants studied the technology and process of making a birdhouse, prepared a sketch and made a details list. Then the participants designed the house, decorated it, painted it, and added additional elements.

On March 10 and 11, 2020, the girls baked bread in the educational-production laboratory of catering technology at the Yanka Kupala State University. In the presence of the jury members, the participants made dough and baked bread. After making bread, the contestants presented their products, read poems and treated the jury members to “hot bread”.

The jury evaluated the submitted works to the competition topic, the urgency and depth of the disclosure of the photo, significance and originality of designer solution, creative, artistic and aesthetic level of the work, technique and performance quality.

Participants of the competition showed their creative abilities and prepared interesting works for children: soft toys, crafts, paintings made in various techniques.

The jury estimated the originality, artistic and aesthetic level of the work, creative personality, technique and quality of performance.

All contest entries will be used during charity events, and the funds received from their implementation will be sent to orphanages and boarding schools and to help in the treatment of sick children.
