The opening ceremony of the National Universiade-2016 in Pinsk gathered more than 3000 students and employees from 52 universities of Belarus. Among the participants of the sports fest was the delegation from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno headed by the rector Andrey Dmitrievich Korol.

   Mikhail Anatolyevich Zhuravkov, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Viktor Viktorovich Yakzhik, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, representatives from Pinsk city and Brest regional authorities, Marian Damalski, FISU Vice-President, Oskar Ros, representative of Polish Sports Association of University Sports, country’s leading sportsmen and sports federations chairmen visited the event.

   In his salutatory speech, Mikhail Anatolyevich Zhuravkov noted that the National Universiade is one of the most important projects in the life of all students. The Minister of Education wished luck in competitions, happiness and victories to the sportsmen.

   Then, the awarding ceremony was held for the winners and prizewinners of the National Universiade-2015. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took the third place. The organizers presented a diploma and a cup to the rector of our university Andrey Dmitrievich Korol.

   The first place in this groop was awarded to a specialized university – Belarusian State University of Physical Culture, the second place was won by Belarusian National Technical University.
