For the next 2 years, Yaroslava is the Youth Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goal number 12 "Responsible consumption and production".

The goal that we set for ourselves this year is to improve the condition of the environment and solve specific environmental issues in Belarus. This goal can be achieved through the popularization of environmental values and principles of sustainable development in the Belarusian society.

Our activities are aimed at:

• informing the population about environmental protection;
• promoting environmental values;
• development of cooperation with government agencies on environmental issues;
• protection of nature and human right to a healthy environment.

As a Youth Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus for the next 2 years, I consider it necessary and important to focus on SDG 12, within which appropriate measures should be taken to ensure the transition to sustainable consumption and production patterns. In our activities, according to the National List of Sustainable Development Goals indicators, it is possible to work in the following directions (specific objectives):

1. (12.3) Reduce food waste at retail and consumer levels and reduce food waste in value chains (Food Loss Index and Food Waste Index);

2. (12.4) Promote the environmentally sustainable use of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle in accordance with agreed international principles, thereby substantially reducing their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their negative impact on human health and the environment (generation of hazardous waste per capita and share of processed hazardous waste by type of treatment);

3. (12.5) Reduce the amount of waste from the population by taking measures to prevent their generation, reduce, recycle and reuse them;

4. (12.6) Inform the residents of Grodno (and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in particular) about the prospects for an environmentally friendly lifestyle in harmony with nature and about sustainable development;

5. (12.8.1) Promote education for sustainable development through non-formal education.
