In cooperation with Bialystok an international project dedicated to the history of Grodno is being implemented in our city. There is a program on how to preserve the memory of the legendary inhabitants of the city and make Grodno attractive for tourists, says "Vechernij Grodno".
Many have certainly noticed that stands with information about the writer Eliza Orzeszkowa have appeared on the streets. There are ten such stands and they are located not only in the center, but also on the outskirts of Grodno, for example, in the Rumlevsky park. All these locations are connected with the fate of Eliza Orzeszkowa.
The plans for the implementation of the project “Preservation of Eliza Orzeszkowa's and Liudwik Zamenhof's historical and cultural heritage in Grodno and Bialystok” were shared by the historian and ethnographer Vitaly Karnialyuk:
— These two historical figures closely link Grodno and Bialystok. A round table was recently held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, where a travel brochure created by historians of Belarus and Poland was presented. This is a guide to places related to Orzeszkowa and Zamenhof.
Liudwik Zamenhof was a linguist, an ophthalmologist and inventor of Esperanto. With this universal language he wanted to spread the idea of peaceful coexistence of different peoples and cultures.
Except that information stands have already appeared in the city, the work on a film and a website is in process. Information about Eliza Orzeszkowa will be presented there in three languages: Belarusian, Polish and English. Tourist routes are being developed for guests and residents of Grodno.
