Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno will host Summer School of the Belarusian Language and Culture

The fifth anniversary Summer School of the Belarusian Language and Culture "Under the bright name of Kupala" will be held from August 4 to 15 at the scientific library of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. More than 20 participants from Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are expected.

The School's program is designed for everyone who is interested in the Belarusian language, history, traditions and culture of the Belarusian people.

During the classes, guests will be able to learn the basics of the Belarusian language and literature and get acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of Belarus through lectures and outdoor activities. In addition, students will have guided tours of the center of Grodno and the iconic places of the Grodno region, visit the city's museums, participate in master classes, cultural events and creative evenings.

Taste of Belarus: The Summer school of the Russian language in Grodno opens doors to culinary traditions

A master class on cooking Belarusian cuisine was held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno as part of the Summer School of the Russian Language. This experience has become not only fascinating, but also informative, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural traditions of Belarus.

Under the guidance of experienced chefs, the participants mastered the recipes of famous Belarusian dishes such as draniki, kholodnik, baked apples and others. The master class was held in a friendly atmosphere where everyone could show their culinary skills and learn the secrets of the Belarusian gastronomic art.

Such an event contributed not only to the strengthening of language skills, but also to the creation of friendly ties between the participants. After the participants of the Summer School, an international evening was waiting for them, where they could taste the treats they had made and learn a little more about each other.

Chinese applicants are being interviewed at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

On July 31, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno hosts interviews for applicants from China who wish to enter the Faculty of Psychology.

To be interviewed, applicants for a bachelor's degree must demonstrate proficiency in English. Candidates for the Master's degree, in addition to language skills, must demonstrate knowledge of their specialty by answering questions also in English.

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is actively developing cooperation with Chinese universities and research centers, which creates favorable conditions for the exchange of experience and knowledge. Successful completion of the interview will be an important step for Chinese applicants to receive a high-quality education at YKSUG.

Foreign students of the Pedagogical Faculty of Master's degree in "Educational Management", together with Alena Bekman, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, visited the scientific library of our university. Svetlana Misyukevich, head of the Library Information Technology Department, conducted the tour for them. Together with her, the students got acquainted with new library technologies and ancient books from the collections.

On July 24, the first match of the hockey club "Neman" took place after the summer break. Foreign students of the Pedagogical Faculty of Master's degree in "Educational Management", together with Alena Bekman, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, attended the game and assessed the level of professional training of Grodno hockey players.

Kupalovtsy discussed cooperation opportunities with representatives of the Federal University of Santa Catarina of the Federative Republic of Brazil

The meeting was held on July 23 in an online format. The event took place thanks to established relations during the visit of Aleksandr Karevskiy, First Vice-Rector of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, to Rio de Janeiro in June 2025 to participate in the League of University Rectors of Brazil, Russia and Belarus, as well as the BRICS University Rectors Forum.

The meeting participants discussed promising areas of work, including conducting joint scientific research and publishing their results. Special attention was paid to the issues of staff exchange to ensure the educational process, as well as academic mobility of students, including in an online format.

Representatives of the YKSUG expressed interest in the "Language Without Borders" program implemented at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, which offers online Portuguese language courses. This initiative can become a valuable resource for staff and students of Kupala University.

Following the meeting, it was decided to start cooperation with the Federal University of Santa Catarina in the field of scientific research in the fields of biochemistry, biotechnology, ecology, artificial intelligence and other areas of mutual interest. It is planned to establish direct scientific contacts between scientists from the two universities in order to expand the range of interaction. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno opens a Centre for the Russian Language and Belarusian Culture in China

The joint project with the Sichuan Vocational and Technical College is planned to be launched in the autumn of 2025.

On July 24, a working online meeting was held between representatives of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Sichuan Vocational and Technical College. During the meeting, questions of organizing a Centre for the Russian Language and Belarusian Culture were discussed. The Chinese side presented options for sites for its placement.

The main goals of the Centre will be to popularize the Russian language and Belarusian culture, deepen the intercultural dialogue between Belarus and China and internationalize education, science, and culture.

The implementation of the project will expand opportunities for the exchange of teachers and students, joint scientific research and cultural events, which will contribute to the further development of partnerships between Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Sichuan Vocational and Technical College.

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has been awarded the title of laureate of the Government of the Republic of Belarus Quality Achievement Award for the fifth time

On July 18, 2025, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Government of the Republic of Belarus Quality Achievement Award 2024 was held in Minsk at the Palace of the Republic.

Viktor Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, presented the diploma to Iryna Kiturka, Rector of YKSUG, and Sergey Scherbinin, Head of the Quality Management Department.

– The contest was the 26th and demonstrated the broad involvement of various sectors of the economy and business in the process of improving the quality of their work, - said Viktor Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

The Award is an authoritative project of the competitive movement for quality in the Republic of Belarus. This project allows us to identify leaders among Belarusian organizations who build their development on the basis of quality, and recognizes their achievements at the state level.

Well-deserved awards for achieving significant results in the field of product, service or work quality were awarded to 40 organizations. Of these, 14 became laureates of the Award, 14 of them confirmed the title of the laureate again. 12 organizations were recognized as the winners of the competition. Three organizations have been awarded special awards.

During the awarding ceremony, diplomas were awarded to the winners of the 2024 contest "The best thesis and research work of students in the field of management and quality control". The awards were received from Alexander Bakhanovich, First Deputy Minister of Education. The diplomas were awarded to the scientific supervisor of the graduate of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Andrey German, as well as Victoria Bril and Anastasia Levkovich, graduates of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism and their research adviser, senior lecturer of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Iryna Skvarnyuk.

The exhibition was also held as part of the ceremony, where significant results of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno were presented.

We recall that Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was awarded the Government of the Republic of Belarus Award for Quality Achievements for the first time in 2010, then in 2015, 2018 and 2021.

Representatives of Yanka Kupala State University discussed cooperation prospects with representatives of Lanzhou College of Technology and Business

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno continues to actively implement its internationalization strategy, fostering academic and cultural cooperation with institutions in the People's Republic of China. July 10, an online meeting was held with representatives of Lanzhou College of Technology and Business.

The event featured Wang Huadong, the rector of Lanzhou College of Technology and Business; Su Guangping, executive vice-rector for academic affairs; and      Ma Yujie, director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges. Yanka Kupala State University was represented by First Vice-Rector       Alexander Karevsky; Elena Belokoz, head of the Education Internationalization Center; and Olga Minova, head of the International Cooperation Department.

The meeting included discussions on improving the academic qualifications of teachers and students, such as the admission of graduates from Lanzhou College to the master's program at Yanka Kupala State University without entrance exams. The participants also discussed staff exchanges to implement joint academic and cultural programs.

A graduate of Yanka Kupala State University has been recognized as the best young scientist in the Commonwealth of Independent States

The competition “Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025” is held annually in Astana for researchers under 35 who have made invaluable contributions to the development of science at both national and international levels. Vera Martynova, a graduate of the Law Faculty of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, has been named the best young scientist in the Commonwealth of Independent States!

The main goal of this project is to identify the best developments by young scientists in the fields of humanities and natural sciences, as well as to promote scientific interests and create a unifying platform for the advancement of science.

She submitted her works, including a scientific study on migration control and a portfolio of scientific achievements for 2023 and 2024, to participate in the prestigious competition back in December 2024. At that time, she was studying in the master's program at Yanka Kupala State University. The selection and review of the submitted works took several months, highlighting the high standards and thoroughness with which the applications were evaluated. The expert jury assessed each work, paying attention to both the originality of the research and its practical significance. The results of the competition became known only in the summer.

By decision of the international expert commission, Vera was declared the winner of the competition and awarded the medal “The Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025”, along with a certificate, diploma, and publication in a peer-reviewed international book edition. This achievement is not only an important milestone in Vera's scientific career but also opens new horizons for further professional growth and development in the field of law.

A letter of gratitude “For Supporting Active Youth in the International Project Among Scientific and Educational Institutions of the CIS” was awarded to the scientific supervisor of the laureate – Rimma Klyuchko, head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensics, candidate of legal sciences, and associate professor at Yanka Kupala State University.

It should be noted that Vera has been conducting extensive research activities for over seven years and plans to continue on an even larger scale. Her desire for scientific discoveries and in-depth analysis of current issues demonstrates her high level of professionalism and commitment to her chosen field. Her victory in the “Best Young Scientist of the CIS” competition highlights her significant contribution to the scientific community.

“During my master’s studies, I actively participated in scientific events, published works, and earned prizes in prestigious competitions. Throughout this challenging and fruitful journey, I was supported by Rimma Nikolaevna Klyuchko – my scientific supervisor. I am overwhelmed with indescribable emotions of happiness and gratitude towards my supervisor for her hard work, support, and belief in me. I still can't believe that my dream has come true; I became the winner of the “Best Young Scientist of the CIS – 2025” competition”. Vera shared her emotions.
