There are 34 Fraternities of foreign students at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
The project "Commonwealth" is being implemented, the main goal of which is to educate students of high culture of interethnic communication.
Educational work at the university is international in nature. Foreign students are involved in social and cultural life of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, they also have the opportunity for effective intercultural interaction in organizing cultural, educational, scientific, and sporting events.

In April 2017, leaders of the community sectors conducted the career-oriented campaign of the educational institution “Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno” in Turkmenistan. As part of the action, a meeting was held between the leaders of the sectors of the community with members of the Association of Foreign Alumni of the State University named after Yanka Kupala, which discussed the prospects for interaction and areas for further cooperation, were awarded letters of thanks to graduates.
Members of the community took part in the Republican festival of foreign students “Days of the Russian language and Belarusian culture” for students in educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus, which was held at the Belarusian State University (Minsk) (May 17 - 19, 2016, 2017).
On October 27, 2017, a football tournament dedicated to the Independence Day of Turkmenistan was held with the participation of teams of students from Turkmenistan from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and State medical University and Grodno.
The creative group "Commonwealth" and a 2nd year student of the faculty of law Allaberdi Avraykulov took part in the contest "#StudyInBelarus", organized by the Republican Institute of higher education. The creative group "Commonwealth" won, and Allaberdi Avraykulov was awarded a diploma of the participant (November 2017).
Foreign students of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno took an active part in the Republican festival of creativity of foreign students "F.-АRT.by", which took place from November 17 to December 20, 2017. In the exhibition-competition “Asensavanne Spradvechvnga”, a student of the law faculty Sapa Dzhumakov and the chairman of the Community of Foreign Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Geldy Bairammyradov were awarded with a diploma of the 1st degree. Chinara Khodzhieva, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Design, received a diploma of the second degree. Diplomas for participation were awarded to Inessa Bagriychuk, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Design, and Nurina Materova, a law student.
Students of the faculty of Philology Jennet Mammadova and Rovshen Ovezov received a diploma of the III degree in the Republican interactive project "Moy rodny Kut, Yak ti me Mili!". A diploma for participation was awarded to a student of the faculty of history, communication and tourism, Wei Wancheng.
The first degree diploma for the best video essay on the topic "Point of view: choice, time, opportunities" was awarded to the author's team of students of the faculty of history, communication and tourism and students of the faculty of pre-University training, which included Kan Shi, Rihanna Adams, Rita Musong, Osei Josephine Poku, Shemshat Rakhmanova, karvahal and Henri Marcelo.
Students of the faculty of history, communication and tourism Eziz Kakabayev and Eldar Islamov received the II degree diploma in the contest of quest initiatives "Vade Mecum".
Students of the Faculty of Philology Arslan Bayramgeldyev, Durdy Bayrammyradov and Nigara Mammedova were awarded with a diploma for participating in the Interaction-action "#follow_fest_art_by".
A group of foreign students from Yanka Kupala State University from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Bangladesh was awarded a diploma for active participation in festival events.
University stage of the festival at the Yanka Kupala State University became the creative lounge "Belarus - the crossroads of national cultures", which was organized on November 28, 2017. The event was attended by the second secretary of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus, Li Wanhu. A round table entitled “Unity and Diversity of National Cultures” was held as part of the creative living room, interactive venues were organized, the reconstruction of the traditional Belarusian wedding ceremony, a master class in Arabic calligraphy, a master class in Chinese calligraphy, a master class in Latin American salsa and bachata, a workshop on weaving bracelets Aladtche and the Chinese tea ceremony
December 7, 2017 on the basis of the Yanka Kupala State University hosted a regional oratory contest among foreign students “Singing My Fatherland”. The winner of the competition was a student of the Faculty of Innovative Engineering Technologies Nikolay Idolenkov. The third degree diploma was awarded to the student of the Faculty of Education Hassan Bepari.
A concert dedicated to the Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan was held on the basis of the Campus on December 12, 2017.
Nikolai Idolenkov and Aziz Sheraliev, representatives of foreign students' communities, became the finalists of the Miss and Mr. University 2018 contest, which was held on December 19, 2017 and won the nomination for “Best Creative Number”.
On December 30, 2017, an excursion of a team of foreign students, who took third place in the XXII freshmen’s amateur art competition “Alma mater - first-year love”, took place in Belovezhskaya Pushcha and the residence of Santa Claus.
On the initiative of the community of foreign students, in January-March 2018, the university administration congratulated the university administration on the New Year (01/03/2018), video congratulations were prepared for university students and staff on Defender of the Fatherland Day (02.23.2018) and International Women's Day (03.03.2018). Fellowships took part in celebrations dedicated to the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the University’s birthday, participated in the contest “Selfie with a teacher”, the student’s action “Happy Birthday, University!”, The student’s party “UNIVER”, as well as foreign students prepared Congratulations on Teacher's Day (10/07/2018).
Community of foreign students participated in organizing the work of the interactive platform of the Yanla Kupala State University of Grodno "Student Karagod" in the framework of the XII Republican Festival of National Cultures, which was held June 1-3, 2018.
July 16, 2018 at the initiative and with the participation of foreign students from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, members of the communities, a meeting was held with the participation of People's Artist of Turkmenistan Halbike Dovyva (07/16/2018).
In the first contest of student startup projects “InnoStart”, community members Mammadova Jennet and Dzhumakov Sapa took 1st place in the “Service” nomination with the draft idea of international transport logistics: comprehensive booking and ticket purchase for foreign students, payment for medical examination for admission to the university, booking buses to the route Minsk Airport-Grodno, payment of tourist services through the university, the appointment of a responsible mentor for arriving for training.
On February 27, 2019, a meeting of the asset of the community of foreign students with the rector Irina Kiturko was held. In the format of a sincere open dialogue, students were able to offer their fresh interesting ideas, as well as discuss with the university leader all topics of concern to them. As part of the meeting, representatives of the community of foreign students were presented with letters of appreciation and letters of appreciation and souvenirs. On March 26, 2019, the Novruz Bayram festival was held at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The holiday, symbolizing spring and new life among the eastern peoples, brought together foreign students from ten universities of Belarus at the Yanka Kupala State University.
For the third time at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno they are organizing a national celebration of the spring equinox. This year, the features of their culture were demonstrated by representatives of ten universities in Belarus. Among the participants are students of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, the Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperatives, the Grodno branch of the Private Educational Institution “BIP - Institute of Law”, the Grodno State Medical University, the Grodno State Agrarian University, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Interstate educational institution of higher education "Belarusian-Russian University", Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Medical University.
As part of the festival, interactive venues were organized where guests of the event plunged into the national flavor of other nations.
Students from Azerbaijan treated everyone with baklava, jam, homemade sugar. As the guys said, the main feature of these sweets is that they are all made with nuts. It was also possible to taste dolma, pilaf, and “holy food” sumialek. According to students, traditionally it’s made from wheat. Students noted that preparations for Novruz begin a few weeks before the holiday, and the first thing is decided to grow this indispensable attribute of the festive table. According to Azerbaijani beliefs, sprouted wheat is a symbol of spring, fertility, prosperity and prosperity.
On the site of students from Turkmenistan, everyone could taste manti, chak-chak, samsa and pilaf, and Kupalians from Iraq treated guests to brian stuffed with rice, onions and pasta, chicken, as well as national soups.
The guests were able to see the household utensils of other nations and even try on national costumes at the exhibition “Rainbow of Creativity”. For example, students from Tajikistan brought a wedding dress made of special material and embroidered with symbolic patterns. Traditionally, tailoring is done exclusively by hand.
Sports enthusiasts were united by a tournament in the national Turkmen wrestling goresh. This is one of the varieties of wrestling on belts, which has its roots in ancient times. In historical sources, there are reports that among the ancestors of Turkmens, not only men, but also women possessed the methods of struggle. In bitterness, wrestlers need to earn points, forcing the opponent to touch the carpet with any part of the body except the feet.
The festival ended with a concert, during which foreign students continued to acquaint the audience with their culture through creative numbers.
More than 200 foreign students were united at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno by the creative lounge “Belarus - the crossroads of national cultures” on November 29, 2019: foreign students from 10 higher educational institutions of the country became participants in the creative lounge in 2019. These are the Yanka Kupala State University of Belarus, the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Institute of Law, the Belarusian National Technical University, the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Grodno State Agrarian University, Grodno State Medical University.
Students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno took part in various sports competitions. The week of sports and health started at Kupala University on September 7. A friendly mini-football match between the student teams of Yanka Kupala State University and Grodno State Medical University opened the Republican complex sports and a mass event.
Mini-football competitions were also held among students who live in the dormitories of Kupala University. According to the results of a series of matches, the first place was taken by the team of the students of the dormitory No. 4. The second place is taken by foreign students of the new dormitory No. 6, and the third place is taken by the students of the dormitoryl No. 3.
The "Native word flows from the mouth" event was held in the Scientific Library of Yanka Kupala State University in March 2021. The event, which was attended by Belarusian and foreign students of Kupala University, was held as part of the Mother Tongue Week. In the reading room of the Scientific Library of Yanka Kupala State University, poems were performed not only in Belarusian, but also in Chinese, Turkmen, and Uzbek.
On March 19th 2021 the Novruz Bayram festival was held for the 4th time. During the festival students took part in football tournament, essay contest, amateur performance concert. Sports fans enjoyed the indoor football tournament on March 18th. The festival ended with a concert, during which foreign students showed the audience their culture through creative performances. At the end of the concert the participants were given a sweet gift from Rector Iryna Kiturka.
A friendly mini-football tournament was held at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The competition was dedicated to the Independence Day of Turkmenistan and brought together teams from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Grodno State Medical University.
Works by Yanka Kupala have been read in different languages in Yanka Kupala State University. The flash mob has combined two events: the university birthday and the 140th anniversary of Yanka Kupala’s birthday.
In February 2022 the meeting of the Fraternities and Iryna Kiturka was held. Foreign students discussed their news and achievements in different spheres of the university life with the Rector. They also discussed their concerns and asked some important questions. All the participants received certificates and souvenirs.
Novruz Bayram united the students of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for the fifth time in March 2022. The indoor football tournament, a fair-exhibition "Rainbow of Art", an amateur concert and an essay contest were held during the holiday. The first Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus Azimjon Abdullayev and Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Hadjiakbar Vakhabov became the honored guests of the festival. The festival ended with a concert, during which foreign students showed the audience their culture through creative performances. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Eduardovich Belykh addressed the guests and organizers of the holiday with congratulatory words.
For the sixth time, the bright festival brought together students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. And although this holiday is traditional for the peoples of Central Asia, students of all nationalities join it at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
In the foyer of the second floor of the main building of the university, a cheerful and generous celebration unfolded – the Kaleidoscope of Creativity fair-exhibition, where students from various countries told about their traditions and treated everyone to national dishes. The festival was opened by the rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Irina Kiturko. She thanked all the children for preparing for the holiday and for choosing Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for their studies.
Within the framework of the festival, language workshops were held, as well as an amateur concert and a video contest "Novruz is My Spring". Undoubtedly, the study and comprehension of different traditions is the key to good–neighborly relations, as well as the proximity of several peoples at once. This is the way of peace and creation!
On December 8, the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno hosted the creative living room "Belarus – the crossroads of national cultures" for the fifth time. The event gathers students, teachers and guests of the university to share cultural experiences and knowledge.
This year, representatives of 20 universities from Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan are taking part in the multinational cultural dialogue. Among them are Volgograd State University, St. Petersburg State University, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute, Urgench State Pedagogical Institute, Karaganda State University, Tajik National University, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology.
Within the framework of the creative living room, an intellectual game "Brain Ring", an interactive round table "Weddings: a variety of traditions and customs", a competition of readers of Belarusian poems "Мой родны кут, як ты мне мілы" and a game of intercultural taboos were held. The bright finale of the event will be the concert "Polyphony of national cultures".
Yanka Kupala State University is a large international family that values and respects the culture of different nations. And it has long been a good tradition to celebrate Chinese New Year. Everyone could join the celebration. We tell you what interesting things the organizers have prepared.
The start of the celebration was given by the grand opening of the event. The guests were addressed by Alexander Karevskiy, First Vice-rector of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, who conveyed warm wishes from Rector Irina Kiturko and presented thanks to Daniil Kulikovskikh, a representative of the Yaotian Educational Center.
According to Liavontsi Paulau, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, initially the Chinese New Year was celebrated within the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, but now the celebration has acquired a university scale. This was facilitated by the desire of the students, as well as the opening of the Chinese-Belarusian Center for the implementation of the “Ban Mo (Ruben.Mozi) college” in the direction of “Preschool education”. This event was an important step in strengthening ties between Belarus and China in the field of education.
After the official opening of the festive events, master classes were held, which became guides to the world of oriental culture. The participants were able to touch the Chinese traditions and feel the subtle and elegant art of China. The guests of the festival received lessons in playing traditional Chinese instruments and experienced the motifs of great China.
No less interesting was the master class dedicated to paper cutting. In Chinese culture, this is a separate trend called jianzhi. This type of decorative and applied art is classified by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. The works are very different in complexity, the most skillful ones resemble lace. The guests were very happy to try their hand at this painstaking task.
An important part of Chinese culture is the tea ceremony, which has a history of several thousand years. A master class was also dedicated to her, which was conducted by representatives of the Yaotian Educational Center.
In addition, an exhibition of works by contest participants dedicated to the celebration of the Chinese New Year was organized in the lobby of the second floor. Here, the guests were able to see creative and original works reflecting the spirit of the holiday and the inspiration of the students.
The festive day ended with a bright concert prepared by Chinese students. The event became a bright chord of this eventful day. And this holiday took place thanks to the Center for Internationalization of Education, the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism and the Humanitarian College of the Yanka Kupala State University.

For the sixth time already, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno welcomed representatives of various nationalities at the creative meeting “Belarus – Crossroads of National Cultures”.
The creative meeting was opened by Vice-Rector for Academic Work Leontiy Pavlov. In his speech he welcomed the guests, congratulated them on the opening of the favorite event, wished fruitful intercultural communication and excellent mood.
– It is gratifying that the creative meeting held at the Yanka Kupaka State University has become a platform for expanding intercultural dialogue. We started to organize contests within the framework of our event in a distant format in November. 20 works were submitted for the contest of video clips. The topics ranged from “My Belarusian History: How Belarus Changed My Life” to “Belarus in the Lens”, allowing participants to share unforgettable moments and personal experiences of life in Belarus. The essay contest was attended by 75 students, each of whom presented the peculiarities of their nation's culture. The results of the essay contest and the video contest will be announced today. In addition, the creative meeting will feature poems in different languages of the world, interactive round tables, games, a concert, and most importantly – the students will have an opportunity to get acquainted, make friends, talk about the cultural peculiarities of their country, – Leonty Pavlov said.
Representatives of Karshi State University, Irkutsk State University, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute named after Mukimi greeted the participants of the creative meeting in the online format.
This year more than 400 students – citizens of 21 countries are taking part in the multinational cultural dialogue: Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Morocco, Iraq, Myanmar, Syria, Kenya, Yemen, China, Maldives, Congo, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Ecuador.
The participants of the creative meeting represent 27 universities from Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and China. They include Belgorod State National Research University, Karshi State University, Irkutsk State University, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute named after Mukimi, Karaganda State University named after Buketov, Tajik National University and Xinjiang Normal University.
Today, within the framework of the event, students will demonstrate not only their creative abilities, but also their knowledge. The program includes an intellectual game “Brain-ring” and a fascinating game “Intercultural taboos”.
An interactive round table will allow one to immerse oneself in the traditions and culture of different countries. The range of topics is wide: from traditional games and entertainment to national symbols of happiness. The participants will show their oratorical skills at the recitation contest “My native land, how dear you are to me”, where they will hear the works in Belarusian or any other native language.
The final chord of this bright holiday will be the concert “Multivoiced National Cultures”.
The event was organised by the Education Internationalization Centre together with the GRSU named after Yanka Kupala foreign students' fraternities.
Let us remind you that the first interethnic student meeting was held in 2017 as part of the Republican Festival of creativity of foreign students “F.-ART.by”. Then representatives of three Grodno universities and BSU took part in the event. Every year the geography of participants expanded. And now the creative meeting has become an international event.
The creative meeting “Belarus – Crossroads of National Cultures” is held with the aim of developing intercultural interaction between students, fostering a tolerant personality in the multicultural environment of the university, increasing the interest of foreign citizens in the Republic of Belarus, its traditions, history and culture.
The VII open Festival Novruz Bayram is taking place at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
The holiday of the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year, a symbol of unity and harmony. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno celebrates the eastern holiday of Novruz Bayram for the seventh time.
For many centuries, Novruz has been associated with the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, as well as with the renewal of nature and life. On this day, people gather together to celebrate the arrival of spring, exchange gifts, cook delicious dishes and congratulate each other on the New Year.
The celebration was opened with the exhibition-fair "Kaleidoscope of creativity". Irina Kiturko, Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, greeted all the guests of the holiday. She noted that Novruz Bayram is a truly unifying holiday that allows students to present national culture and get acquainted with the traditions of other peoples.
– Today you are celebrating this wonderful holiday away from home, but I hope that you feel family warmth and support. Thank you to all the guys for taking part in the fair and introducing us all to their traditions and national dishes, – Irina Kiturko thanked.
According to the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Leonty Pavlov, students from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Venezuela, China, Japan, Yemen, as well as Sri Lanka presented their country and culture at the fair – representatives of this country came to visit from Grodno State Medical University.

We are happy to respond to their suggestions and initiatives. One of them was the celebration of Novruz Bayram, which was held for the first time in 2017.
