The head of the Grodno regional customs, Andrey Kovalchuk, addressed to the first-year students of the law faculty of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno. He noted that such unique kind of "step into the profession", acquaintance with customs, customs officials who teach special disciplines at the university, is an important stage in the educational process during preparing future customs specialists.

The virtual guide provides all the information about the unified educational platform of the university, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to use it for training and communication. According to the head of the educational and methodological department of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno, Marina Kolotsey, educational portal was created in 2011 and it is a network platform, a single information resource that contains organizational and all educational materials for each academic discipline that ensure the educational process at the university. In addition, the educational portal of Yanka Kupala state university of Grodno is not just a repository of information, but an effective interactive platform for communication between teachers and students, as well as students among themselves. An electronic publication "Educational portal: to the teacher and student" was created in order to show the numerous opportunities and tools of the educational platform to teachers and students.
The first part of the publication includes recommendations for teachers on how to use the main tools of the portal, in particular, the modules "Lecture", "Task", Forum", "Seminar", "Wiki", "Test", as well as instructions on how to organize distance learning in the format of webinars and video conferences using WebEx, Zoom and Microsoft Teams services. The second part of the electronic manual contains tips and recommendations for students about using educational materials of the educational portal, instructions for participants of remote classes in real time, and information about their personal account. Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno announced a competition for grants for research and innovation projects
Grants will be allocated from the innovative development foundation, which was formed at the university in December last year.
The competition is open and will take place at the university for the second time. Participants of the competition can be both individual researchers and research teams from among full-time employees of the university, including separate structural divisions, students, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students, as well as scientific associations of the university students from among student research laboratories and student design bureaus. Materials and information submitted to the project competition must be original and not contain information that explicitly or indirectly violates any obligations of confidentiality of authors or intellectual property rights.
Financial support from the innovative development foundation of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno can be provided on a competitive basis to employees and students of the university who are working on the realization of innovative projects planned for inclusion in the State program of innovative development of the Republic of Belarus, the realization of export-oriented innovative projects, as well as projects aimed at creating and organizing the activities of small innovative enterprises engaged in commercialization of the results of scientific activities of the university. Employees, students, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students of the university can apply for grants, whose scientific and innovative activities are aimed at research, design and development works that ensure the creation and production of new products, improved technologies and services new to our Republic and the world economy, as well as the acceleration and realization of innovative projects and developments, ensuring the realization of research results in the production process of enterprises and organizations in the country.
The competition for grants will take place in 3 stages. The first stage starts on September 21 and continues until October 30. During this period, participants must submit an application for the competition, the business project and its feasibility study, as well as the estimated financial costs of the project. Only one application is accepted from each participant. Participants of the competition can provide additional documents to the project, including reference materials related to the implementation of research, development and development work, as well as work on the development and production of new types of goods and services. The subject of projects submitted for the competition must correspond to the list of priority areas of scientific and technical activities and the list of priority areas of scientific research of the Republic of Belarus.
From 2 to 30 November, the examination of the submitted materials will be carried out. During the examination the papers will be evaluated on criteria such as innovation, technological way of introduced technologies and their origins, the planned volume of production of high technology products, commercial and export potential development, the payback period of the project, the reality of the timing of the stages and work in whole, the validity of estimated costs. When selecting projects for funding from the university's innovation development foundation, priority will be given to projects based on technologies of the V and VI technological structures, as well as those that end with the release and sale of innovative products. The selection of projects and summing up of the competition results will take place from December 1 to December 20, 2020.
The competition for grants for research and innovation projects is aimed at creating conditions for supporting the commercialization of scientific results, stimulating research and innovation activities of employees and students of the university, selecting promising research and innovation projects for further assistance in their implementation and promotion, and developing project skills among the participants of the competition, creating conditions for the potential and personal growth of the contest participants and ensuring the realization of the University's development priorities.

Sport holiday brought together staff and students of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno. Irina Kiturko, rector of Yanka Kupala state University of Grodno, welcomed participants, fans and representatives of jury and opened the summer sports festival. – Today we are gathered here in the fresh air to improve our health. The campaign for settling to hostels starts at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on August 28
The campaign for settling to hostels of first-year students will last from August 28 to August 31. In order not to lose the right of accommodation in the hostel for 2020-2021 academic years, students need to address for the direction on the settlement, to have a medical check-up and check in a hostel no later than September 5.
Kupala residents will be informed about time and place as well as rules of living in a hostel remotely, using information technology.
Besides, moving to the hostel, students will be instructed on fire safety rules and will study the internal regulations of the hostel.
It should be noted that today the campus includes five hostels in Dovatora St., 27, BLK St., 3; Proletarskaya St., 16 and in Limoges St., 27/1. More than 2000 students live there. The opening of the sixth hostel in Dubko Street will become one of the most expected events of the beginning of academic year. The modern 13-storey hostel will open doors for 1030 students.

Students of Yanka Kupala State University are given discounts on tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic year
Kupala University held a meeting of the commission on providing discounts from the formed tuition fee to students who study on a paid basis.
Every year, the number of Kupala residents who receive discounts on tuition fees increases. So, in 2018, Yanka Kupala State University reduced the final tuition fee for 90 students, and in 2019 – for 130 students. In 2020, 167 people received discounts on tuition fees. Of these, 130 - for high performance in educational, research activities and active participation in public life, 37 – on social grounds.
In the new academic year, 119 University students will benefit from a 40% discount. In 2019, there were 99 people, in 2018- 71 person. The maximum discount in tuition fees (60%) this year the u niversity will provide 47 Kupala residents. This is 1.5 times more than in 2019 (30 people), and 2.5 times more than in 2018 (19 people). A discount of 20% will be the cost of education for one student in 2020.

The week of sports and health has started at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Kupala students are taking part in competitions of various sports.
The week of sports and health started at Kupala University on September 7. A friendly mini-football match between the student teams of Yanka Kupala State University and Grodno State Medical University opened the Republican complex sports and a mass event. Before the start of the match, the head of the Sports Club Kirill Akulich made a welcoming speech. The friendly match ended in favour of the students of the GSMU.
Mini-football competitions were also held among students who live in the dormitories of Kupala University. According to the results of a series of matches, the first place was taken by the team of the students of the dormitory No. 4. The second place is taken by foreign students of the new dormitory No. 6, and the third place is taken by the students of the dormitoryl No. 3.
Mass sports events within the framework of the week of sports and health will last until September 11. Kupala students will compete for the championship in competitions in street-ball, powerlifting, tennis, darts and weight lifting.
The meeting of the Student Art Council of the university was held at Yanka Kupala State University
Representatives of creative youth of all faculties summed up the results of the Council's work in the past academic year and discussed the prospects for future creative activities at the university.
Vice-rector for Educational Affairs of the university Vasiliy Sianko wished the students fruitful work and inexhaustible energy in the new academic year. The mentor of the Council, head of cultural and leisure activities of the Department of Educational Work with Youth Elena Stelmakh, thanked the student of the 4 academic year of the Faculty of Engineering and Construction Artem Boltut for caring, conscientious and creative attitude for several years - the student performed the duties of Chairman of the Student Art Council. Irina Pashinskaya, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism, was elected as the new Chairman of the Student Art Council.
Among the issues discussed at the meeting were the university's creative life of activists, the recruitment of first-year students to the university- amateur clubs, the functioning of creative studios in the new dormitory in Dubko street, and the first-year amateur competition "Alma mater – love from the first year".

Yanka Kupala State University signed a contract with a new resident of the Science and Technology Park
An individual entrepreneur Alexey Tulko, who is implementing an innovative project related to the maintenance of household sewing machines, have become a new resident.
The resident company of the Technology Park, founded by Alexey Tulko, is engaged in maintenance and repair of household sewing equipment. At the same time, the main activity of the entrepreneur is to extend the service life of sewing machines.
– We have been repairing household sewing equipment for the past five years and today we can confidently say that with the help of regular proper maintenance of sewing machines, you can extend their service life by 2 – 3 times, - said Alexey Tulko. – I noticed the problem and built my business model on its solution. The fact is there are several components and assemblies that constantly require attention in household sewing equipment.
